I was chat restricted for 24 games, please tell me how?

I realize it's one sided. So to give context, our jg flames and trolled us as well as the ADC did the same. I pinged for help top and asked for it and the jg just laughed and that was the start of it. At no point did I flame, bully or troll anyone. I did call him out for being AFK and for trolling and what not to myself. (Circling around nexus when we still have outer turrets for around 5-6 minutes is basically AFK without the kick notification.) I realize me saying "They can have top, I'm out" may sound like I gave up. But I was in voice with mid lane. We both suggested that if I said that maybe our jg would actually come top. Shocking, he didn't. And obviously I didn't give up on the game and still played on. I did lose lane, bad. I'm not saying I didn't. I do have bad games just like everyone else. But that didn't tilt me, I didn't afk. I didn't give up and I most certainly didn't troll anyone. I did inform them that with their trolling and flaming and all of that bad stuff that I'd report them. I also muted them so I didn't have to pay attention to them going crazy on me any longer.

After the game I was hit with a 24 game chat restriction. Can anyone tell me where I was in the wrong to warrant such a disciplinary action to be taken against myself?

Constantly telling the person how you're going to report them and how they're going to be chat restricted/banned is viewed as negative by the IFS.

In this situation, it would have been better to just report them and move on, rather than continuing the conversation with them.

That is not in IFS. In the Code of Conduct it also is not in it. In my message I stayed calm besides the fact that I was being destroyed by my lane and the two toxic players trolling/flamming the whole time. Again, I have not seen it at all in the CoC that I cannot simply say that I am reporting someone. Letting them know, "Hey, this behavior is warrant for report" should not be discouraged. I let them know that through their actions I was going to report them. Constantly is not the word I'd use to describe how many times I told them I'd report them. I said it twice. So a couple times would be more appropriate.

You haven't seen it in the code of conduct or the Summoner's Code because Riot doesn't actually have a set of rules. The Summoner's Code is merely a set of guidelines, and you have to discover the actual rules either by being punished or reading or hearing about people who have. For example, there's nowhere that specifically says if you tell someone to kill themselves you will immediately suffer a 14-day ban, but that is a rule that is enforced.

As far as simply saying "I am reporting you" goes, you may not be punished for that. However, when you say it in a way that could be viewed as taunting, you will be punished for it. And what I quoted wasn't the entirety of what you were punished for in that chat log. The general arguing with the guy trolling you is also something the IFS punishes for. And based on the severity of that chat log (I'd say the IFS likely only considered it mildly negative), you likely had other games that were flagged as valid reports before you were hit with this chat restriction.

Running around nexus with our outer turrets still being up for around 5-6 minutes is basically AFK without the kick notification. He was trolling very hard. I didn't give up on top, I ganked mid and came right back top to get rolled by their top.

I didn't see that in IFS. Most times just saying something simple as "reporting you" gets people to realize their actions and chill out as well as even apologize sometimes. But as you can see, I shortly after just muted them and let it be the rest of the game.

I highly disagree with that statement. In most cases it just escalates the situation, which is actually why it gets marked by the system in the first place.

LMAO. What game are you even playing? This never happens. I remember in season 7, I troll, inted and afked quite a few games, even winnable ones when someone threatened to report me. Been playing since season 5 and I have never ever ever seen a threat to report actually produce positive results. I myself can react extremely negatively to someone threatening to report me. I don't run it down anymore for that but I'm not thinking about pleasing someone threatening to report me either.
