New to game, does behavior get better?

Hey everyone. I'm new to League, having come from playing Smite on console. I've only played about four or five matches against actual people and the last match was less than ideal. There was a guy whose username mentioned which lane he was going to feed, and of course, he charged straight into it. Nobody on our team was really responding to his griefing, so I tried to keep morale up by cheering everyone on.

Long story short, as time went on and he realized that nobody cared what he was doing he got agitated, calling us racial and homophobic slurs (he called me a rioter if anyone knows what that means). We went on to win and he got even angrier, telling people to kill themselves and continued on with more slurs.

So as a new player, I'm curious if behavior like this gets mitigated the more I play or is it just standard to League? I'm not someone who gets bothered by this stuff so it's not discouraging to me, it's more of an annoyance. Also, is Riot usually good about taking action against accounts? People like this shouldn't be allowed to ruin other people's experience.

Thanks!

P.S. If any would like to show me the ropes I'd love to play with you! (As long as you're not a jerk.)

no, it stays the same and/or gets worse

there are nice people, your best bet is to find 4 people to play with that are chill and to turn off the ability to see what the enemy team is saying.

Real answer : If you were playing agasint bots, its probably your team had a few bots themselves ( not league bots, but players using 3rd party programs to grind there accounts up fast ). but if it was a normal game . . . yea that's just gonna have to be something you occasionally get used too XD

League of Legends has hands down the most toxic community I have ever had the displeasure of playing with. It's gotten better recently I think, but a lot of people are passionate about this game, and a lot of those people don't know how to properly channel that passion in positive and productive ways.

Kinda.

As you get better there is less likelihood of people picking on you but no matter what you will find people who love to troll or are just mean. All i can say is be positive and sometimes you change peoples minds. I've been in situations where the other team would say nasty stuff after i got a kill and kept talking about how my champ was easy. i brought up the fact that my champ is not what you would call a "snowball champ" and the camps win rates and what not and kept calm while doing so. long story short we played together on the next game and they were actually a nice person.

Other advice i can give you is Draft mode is a little better then blind pick and ranked gets better the higher in lvl you are.

Just keep being positive buddy :) and ignore the haters

ps if the other time is talking down when your doing good just type "don't hate the player" half the time the response will be "hate the game" and the shit talk may end

SomeStars9/5/2017, 1:06:52 AM1 votes

yes it does, do not trust the people who say no. in blind pick you find more jerks and trolls which is what most these people play and vs AI always has bots on your team once you have enough champions play draft and once you get better you will be placed with people who have also gotten better and spent time on league some may be jerks but very few run it down a lane and feed some will flame and use hate speech but riot always acts on people if they get reported

also a rioter is someone who works for riot and is the also the guy who is to positive to be tilted by trolling

in draft you have less choice over which lane you play in but you really shouldn't play at all if you refuse to play certain lanes

There are a lot of toxic players and a lot that aren't. It's a moba so there are always people playing the blame game.

Add me if you like. Not one for bad manners or toxicity.

It absolutely does get better once you get out of those very low level games. Of course you will still see "toxicity", but I can't actually remember the last time I've seen someone announce they were going to feed and actually do it.

Its common to see this type of behaviour at low levels.

There are people within this game and uses toxic stuff like you mentioned, they get banned but want to play league, so they start up new accounts and end up playing with new players such as yourself.

You'll start to see less of them after lvl 25 or so.

The community is definitely a toxic hellhole but trolls like that who are obviously going to end up losing there account instantly are less and less common the higher you climb in level. I'm not saying that there isnt still a shit load of toxicity but that is an extreme form that is less common
