Tribunal submission for Positive Play?

How League Of Legends Enables Toxicity

[slayer-pantheon-rainbows] So, we all know the toxic environment of League. There's no denying it is this way, to do so is naive. However, we also know Riot has tried to combat this through the Tribunal and through giving votes at the end of a match for good behavior. SO, here's an idea: The Tribunal is used to judge and punish those who support bullying, toxic talk and just all-out lame playing. But what if people who actually take the time to say, "Hey, no need to yell at him/her, it's normal matches, let's help him/her," had a judgement? What if when someone actually says, "Hey Bot, stay closer to the tower and play defensive...all good, just try to farm what you can and I'll get down there soon," rather than, "Bot, quit feeding you noob idiots, I can't gank everywhere, do I need to hold your hand?" we could judge that and say, "Hey, good job."

I propose that either the Tribunal include player reporting for POSITIVE behavior post game or an entirely different division. I have no idea about the name, idk, the Honor Brigade? I'll leave that up to Riot. But either a separate section or including it with Tribunal reviews would be great. Being, heh, "Convicted," of good behavior should carry with it something rewarding, such as the weight of being voted, "Team Player," 20 times or something, idk, or a special little badge on your avatar showing you've recently been judged and found to be a good player. There could even be a ranking to the honor system, showing a bronze badge for recent judging, silver for getting good judgement over a span of time and gold for getting it often.

This could encourage players to start coaching with kindness, demonstrating PATIENCE, and doing what they are supposed to do in the first place: Win, or lose, as a team. I've played games where we lost, horribly, but played as a team and communicated.

One game comes to mind: Supporting each other but simply being outplayed, we knew that we had simply been outplayed, especially with a brand new player on the team (been playing a week.) However, we recognized we were likely going to lose and just took a breath, relaxed, and coached the player on how best to play their champ (They were using Annie and didn't realize the stun was best used in conjunction with Tibbers, as well as other strategies.) By the end of it, despite knowing they likely had cost us the match, the player felt good and had learned how to play better. Holy cow...it's like they had been playing a FUN GAME or something, who knew??

Another example: Playing supp Sona , we lost bot and mid was dying horribly as well. ADC Lucian and Mid Ahri said, "Screw it," and began to surrender...but Top Pantheon and Jungler Rengar were doing amazing. We were 55 to 23, I think, it was bad, but Top and Jungler said, "Hey, we got this, we can pull it through." What they got in return was intentional feeding and a plethora of curses. So I abandoned my Bot and supported Top. We won. Hard carry but we won. I wish I could give those guys medals.

So, if you read all this, you yourself should get judged awesome. Riot, can we PLEASE implement this or something darn near close to it? Nothing feels better than when you know you're having an off day (we ALL have them,) and a player says, "All good, let's just have fun."

Its too bad the honor system didn't do much to enforce positive play. I would love Riot to expand that system more, instead of making a system that people try to just fish for honor points at the end of the game in S3.

crossing my finger that it will be in after the new client is done. Hopefully that new technology can make it easier to perform certain reform coding.

In other words : "I have an opinion, anyone who doesn't share my opinion is naive." Great way to get a conversation started....

I rarely encounter toxic people. Unfortunately your opening line annoyed me enough that I didn't bother reading the rest.

Maybe this is just me, but I really don't care for a new honorable report system. That being said, I think there are going to be several problems with this.

  • People just fishing for reports. I saw it when the current honor system first came online. All people said was, "I'll honor you if you honor me".

  • I have a hard time thinking this would work without some sort of incentive. A badge looks nice, but we already have that in place. No one cares about that. I suppose you could give a small IP boost or something, but for someone like me who has all the champs, I don't really need that.

  • Getting people to actually participate in this is going to be tough. The current honor system died because of a lack of participation.
