Kid loses lane; DDoSes the server, enemy team forfeits 2/0; wins game

Can't believe someone actually stooped this low (or that it worked, to be honest).

I was supporting in this low level Blind Pick game. We're losing lane really badly (our ADC is 1/4 or something). So they take our outer tower and we're still doing badly. At 16:21, our ADC says "im going to ddos that bitch". I just assumed he was venting. But no more than 15 seconds later, I am lagging so hard that my ping in the top-right corner couldn't possibly be accurate. My connection to the game was basically non-existent.

I alt-tab out, see what my connection to various websites is like, ping from the command line. My connecting is working fine, and my ping outside of the LoL match is fine. The lag continues in-game for about 5 minutes. Even my chat commands are barely going through. I try typing 5 lines and only one of them ever shows up in the chat. Nobody else seems to be able to say much, either

So after about 5 minutes, the lag clears up (after our Draven has pushed to their inhibitors), and the enemy surrenders; their vote passed 2/0, so I know that 3 of their players have dropped from the game since it started lagging. I can't believe this loser actually DDoS'd his way to a victory... in some random level 5 Blind Pick, no less... Pictures attached, but I had to edit everyone's names out (per Riot board rules, I guess).

Bonus: Our ADC (the DDoS'er) was playing Draven.

I know he will probably do it again, and get away with it. People like this give the LoL community its reputation...

("confused newb" is me, but I can't post in this board with that account because silly level restrictions)

On the one hand, Draven built a stinger. On the other hand, he felt the need to apparently DOS a level 6 game. You'd think if he cared enough to DOS, he'd care enough to learn what to build on Draven, even if he is a complete noob too.

If you didn't make an in game report make sure to send in a support ticket. Maybe send in a ticket anyway, you can attach uncensored pictures. http://i.imgur.com/Z9kcfgI.png[/img]

Assuming this isn't a joke thread, a few pointers. a) the chance of some guy playing norms being able to effectively knock riots servers into disarray is so negligible its not worth taking into account b) even if he did, he would be impacted by the unstable servers he would be trying to take offline. Riot has been having server issues for days now, he got lucky basically. In general you would try to hit a person or two offline on the enemy team if you knew their IPs (this wouldn't happen in low level norms). This does happen in WoW at the higher end of the 3v3 ladder, you can prob YouTube it to see how it plays out when someone's been taken off.

You people feeding into this, is just silly. Riot is not a low end company that doesn't have excellent DDoS security. It was a coincidence that Riot was having server wide issues. He would be able to directly DDoS the said person IF he knew their IP and there would be no way to DDoS a single game match.

With all the ragers on League, trust me if DDoS was possible, the game would never be up and running.

i remember doing something similar to this once the old warding trinket bug where you bought and sold the upgrade over and over again and the game would literally just end with no winner. it was a normals game, and I didnt do it anymore after that. i just wanted to see if it actually worked.

I honestly don't know if I should find this hilarious, disturbing, or mildly amused. I have never seen a person DDoS a league game with malicious intent like this.

this is so common in China, games in lower level is often 2v5 or 3v5.

Wtf...lol

No idea when this was posted but literally a few days ago riots servers were fucking up but i mean you just post shit without looking into what the situation was and the lag was most likely on riots side. Trust me.

DDoS? Really? I seriously doubt the moron could establish a secure, undetected, and stable connection to the already touchy Riot servers. I had lag that bad on the exact same day...and lo-and-behold!!! Attempting to Reconnect!

Don't let this clown trash talk you...

Because after someone clearly explains the mechanics of a SIMPLE (but extremely detectable) DDoS to you...you'll be staring like this... http://i.imgur.com/fp4unVS.png

Stop feeding into salty trolls. Just throw some hot water on those idiots to dissolve them (aka Mute).

More than likely he was drop hacking and yes you can cause service interruptions without directly affecting an individual's ISP. This is an on-going issue Riot has taken some pre-emptive measures however, when there is a will there is a way.

I'm not defending the Draven's actions or words in any way, but is that possible? I'm not asking because I doubt you as much as I honestly don't understand how that would work. I have a vague understanding of how DDoS attacks work but I always assumed it was on a large scale. Can you DDoS a single game like that without affecting the rest of the server as a whole?
