Idea instead of perma banning?

What if instead of perma banning, riot made the only punishment chat restrictions, and also made a system where you can block a certain player and not be able to ever play with them. Then they could also make a board where you can post a game that you had with a toxic player with chat logs, score etc. and the people veiwing the board could decide if they would want to block or not. It would be a really good way for avoiding contact with toxic players in the future, and could also be a good way to vent after having experienced one of these kind of games, rather than posting a thread to complain on this kind of board, or have more players becoming toxic. And then eventually, the toxic players will never find a que because of so many people blocking them. This would make it so the worst punishment you would is a perm chat restriction, and REALLY bad que times, which i think is more fair of a punishment rather than perma ban since you can still play the game but the more games you troll and the more toxic you are the longer the que times. I see the only real bad effect this system would have, and that would be that you would be name shamming, and people could add these players and harass them and that players might be focusing on taking screenshots and such rather than trying to bring back the game. But in the end i fell as this system would do more good than harm and that it is a more fair system than the current system. Comment your opinions.

There are several problems that I see with this.

  • Permamutes don't work. Back in Season 2-3 (I'd say this was when League was the most toxic), the punishment system would hand out multiple chat restrictions (I believe you could only type 5 lines) but as soon as people got off of chat restriction, they would continue to be toxic. If the worst possible punishment would be just a permamute, I don't see that as being severe enough punishment for toxic players to stop being toxic.

  • Blocking players and never playing with them would make que times much worse. Let's say that you are wanting to play League and it's 4 am (a time when not a lot of players are on) so let's say that there are 1000 players who are around your ELO. Let's assume each player has around 50 players on their block list. If all these players were in true solo que ( not playing with friends ) then you effectively cut the number of players that can be matched with/against you. If you throw in premades into the group, that adds a whole new dynamic to the problem. If X player has Y player on their block list, that's up to 4 more people that your premade can't play with. The final problem with the blocked players idea is it would make more problems for High ELO players. Challenger only has 200 players in it, what happens if they are on eachother's blocked list? They have to then be playing with players who are lower on the latter, and that's just bad for everyone.

  • Lyte has said that he does not want to make a "prisoner's island". You can read about it here. The TLDR of that post is, prisoner's island doesn't reform people, and that's what the ban system wants to do, the ban system wants to reform people.

  • The final problem that I foresee is that "naming and shaming" quickly leads to witch hunting. This is something no one wants to have happen, because those get really ugly quick.

This is called prisoners island. Riot specifically said that they would never do this.

Riot used to do some variation of this (people would have 1,000+ games of chat restrictions), but they stopped because it wasn't actually solving any problems.

and also made a system where you can block a certain player and not be able to ever play with them.

This can very easily be abused in higher elo.

But then no more momey for riot

Riot doesn't give permabans out for no reason. If you have been BANNED from a game it usually means you broke that nice little Terms of Use contract you accept every time you load up the game, and yes being a nice person is part of the rules.

I think perm-mute would be better than permaban. If you put hundreds of dollars into this game, I dont think they should take it all away. If you could at least still play the account you could still use all of your skins, champs, etc.. just not be toxic anymore bc you cant talk. It's a lot better than never being able to access something you have paid for over hurt feelings. I have never been ban or chat restricted and I still think those toxic players should only be perma-muted

Another player with another dumb idea that will never be implemented. Where do you people come up with your shit? Also pass those drugs I want some of what you're smoking.

only ones that will agree with you are the perma banned scripters and constantly toxic perma banned players wanting to get lesser punishments the next time and also the mass witch hunts on the forums.. Ridiculous.
