Why Aren't Normals Fun Anymore For the Solo Player

So i have played this game fore some time now around 3 years (a little over actually) and i have noticed a sudden issue. Normals are simply no longer fun because of the community. i used to be able to play what i wanted in whatever lane most of the time and have fun, but recently i have started running into it more and more as a solo player. when i play normals i do it for fun ranked im more serious. now though for some reason i get constantly flamed for having fun in normals and having like some joking banter. I will admit sometimes i get upset with the game and i will criticize some ones play but we all do this occasionally.

Now the issue is kind of complicated to adress seeing as the community isnt just one person so im not the only one who matters. However that doesnt change the fact that people dont just play this game simply because they wanna be lcs or super competitive. I think that riot need to bring a more permanant game mode for fun or create some way for people like myself to be able to enjoy the game without having these negative experiences be a regular thing.

That all being said i love the game its self , but as it is now i dont see myself playing the game much more if this is going to be the regular thing every game. Add on to the thread and give me some feedback to tell me if im not the only one who seems to feel the same.

P.S i wouldn't mind some riot input :D

Game needs a more permanent pve mode, not bots.

The main issue is so many things really that culminate in a massive problem for LoL, but it ultimately results in people getting too involved in the game just to have a chance against all the others who push it such as 'competitive players' who stalk around in the regular game modes. It ends up breeding a cycle where everyone wants to constantly play the OP champions leaving plenty of other champions extremely unviable in regular matches because of meta induced sort of rotations or just 'old kits' that make them never have any viability till they either get updated or the meta rotates to make 'THEM' viable.

I don't even get to see champions like Skarner, Elise, Evelynn, Tristana, plus a few others like Rumble, Olaf and a few others because its either 'they are unviable' or 'why pick them when you can just pick Yasuo, Akali, Darius, Xin Zhao, Illaoi, Vlad, Swain, Vayne, Jhin, Ashe, Lucian, Miss Fortune, Kog Ma Jungle, Twitch Jungle, etc.' It becomes a literal 'player base decided champion limiter' because such champions have either scummy kits, they have some ridiculous itemization builds or they just plain make 'any other champions' in the list look like utter trash.

So no one can even 'play fun' because there's too many people rather wanting to play these super optimized 'setups' regardless of the game mode and making everyone else be forced to play along and have a bad time trying to 'follow the meta' or 'learn too many things' like champion builds, counters, etc. plus likely burning a hole in their wallet or wasting any IP they farmed up on buying pthe enarticular champs or runes or even extra rune pages for 'more forced to have any chance' variety builds.

Sadly the ones who 'do' have fun just consist of people having fun by being with others in groups or by being plain jerks or playing 'clown it around' play styles. It would be nice if the game could situate solo players to not have as much trouble while at the same time trying to make the game actually be 'fun' again. But so many things have to be peeled away to do that and not ruin the 'Esports' scene for League of Legends. At least they did so a bit by letting you ctrl(or was it alt?)+click things like your hp, mana, abilities, trinket and so on bars to allow you to grant more information on where you stand (which if i recall they will add EXP and Gold soon to the bonus) so players will be able to speak more quickly and even solo'que players could have a easy measure to say before the team tries to go for a all in, that they could know instead that you got a bunch of gold and you need to spend so they can instead put focus on objective pick up instead while keeping all the lanes pushed in.

Instead of trying to play middle lane congestion where they practically give optimal points for the enemy team to use hyper carries (like freakin Xin Zhao (( ) to literally single man push the crap out of a lane and you can't just send one person to fight him because his kit makes him so ridiculous with items like attack speed and on hit effects that he just basically can kill a high armor+hp Garen within a few seconds of the Garen arriving to try and stop him from taking the turret but instead gets killed under the turret because of Xin's knock up, insane attack speed, blade of ruin king shred, ghost blade active plus shred, rage blade at full stack extra hit effect, etc. effects turns him into a unkillable mess less you can one shot or CC him before ya blast his squishie insane glass cannon style.

At the very least LoL is getting pushed in the direction towards making the game more 'fun', its just a matter of them catching up to all the meta exploitation and create tweaks to prevent insane hyper carry champions, especially in the jungle who could one man kill dragon even before level 6 or easily use OP early game power they provide to just snowball a match to make it impossible to 'try' and do a turn over for a majority of regular mode match up teams, while the few that can are either unable to win because of OP champions making it impossible to push or they actually manage to flip it over because the enemy team is actually using champions or builds that actually HAVE weaknesses to them.

ARAM is where FUN Is for. RGMQ is for FUN.

A Normal SR is for training of sorts, it's not really meant to be FUN FUN. I play Normals every day, have over 2000+ wins & loses. So I've seen everything. I like to take them serious to a point and you know try to actually win. I don't like playing to mess around cause someone doesn't want to do shit and just lose, as it doesn't mean much to them cause "oh no we don't have an elo here to mess with, so I dun care what happens". There's more things to the game then just that.

I'd say another combination factor is from; the excessive advertising of the pro games, and the removal of tribunal. With all the esports junk being shoved around all over the place over the years, it's drawn the worst of the competitive gamers here; I'm sure most people know what I'm talking about, I'm referring to the self-entitled and solo-ist players from more infamous multiplayer reliant games. Then when they removed the tribunal, and sweeped their inept ai replacement under the rug to gloss over how it'll fall short, it's no wonder the jerks & trolls go unpunished anymore.

I agree with most of what some others have said too, about how some champions have too many or too powerful synergies not to be abused.

What I don't understand is when people wanna play normals for fun, but then say they wanna win. Sure, winning is fun, but i had a game where i stomped a yas mid as fizz and i just started screwing around and bantering with the enemies and i pinged my team off the enemy nexus twice. We had a riven who was getting angsty with us, and we eventually threw and lost because their vayne scaled.

Sure, I like to win, but playing normals for fun should be able to be taken seriously as well. Im tryhard too, but my team didnt have to stop seiging twice because i said so. I wanted to "peel the onion" aka take all turrets, inhibs, and baron and watch the enemy's base get flooded, but it doesnt always work.

At the end of the day its just normals. Ranked I take seriously, and that's where i draw the line. Keep your damn ap sej in normals where my lp doesnt matter. Normals you farm IP and ranked you farm LP

I think you'd really enjoy the random game mode queue. You can pretty much goof around and stuff in those and nobody gets too upset. If you wanna goof off in normals, that's fine, but find some friends to play with or at least adhere to the general meta (top, jungle, mid, and 2 bot). I've seen Heimer jungle in a couple games so it's not impossible to play whatever you want.

Ok so i have been reading this a lot and im really happy with all the feedback I'm glad I'm not the only who feels that league has become a different environment. i also really enjoyed the feedback on the types of games and game modes but i think i didn't fully explain my view point. As i started reading i realized i never did explain that winning is still the goal. However all i mean about not being able to have fun is if you play off meta or go or a cool play and it doesn't work the way the team was hoping very often it would seem you get flamed very harshly.

Now to explain what i mean by off meta, i dont mean get support and play ashe. i mean the people that get support can play any character they would think can fit there (i've had tryndamere support we stomped lane). I mean when i say fun things like ahri support or something that doesn't mean don't buy a sight stone or support item or pink(and yes i know all players should buy pinks ).

Now not only on the sides of supports but jungle Things like soraka (just an example). now most of the time i don't mind those things but i will admit when i get moments where they just play teemo jungle don't clear don't gank and sit in the enemies jungle in a bush to all in and die instantly. Things like the previously stated are what would be trolling which you shouldnt flame and ill be the first to admit i get flustered over this sometimes. Now do you flame this person no you Maybe tell them that they need levels and farm and what they are doing isnt good for them or the team in a constructive way. If they persist report them after that game.

The separation for fun and "trolling" for me When your trying to have fun you do some strange pick but still play your role or you have some strange build. Generally something that is different and might be fun to try (strats builds picks etc....). That is what i would call fun, but say i pick soraka jungle and all i do i go from lane to lane and heal people but i don't clear or gank or anything i am now trolling you arent benefiting your team the way a jungle would. Now yes you can have the same affect as say vi, and that is in its self a form of trolling if you have no interest in playing your role which you have selected.

Now before im grilled by some one reading this i just want to say this is all my personal opinion and i still would like more input from the community and maybe we can bring these issues to riots attention so that we can have an open discussion with them about what we think needs to happen With not only the disciplinary system but the Idea of more fun in the game other than just aram which people still take seriously in my opinion

So in closing let me know more of what you guys think and if you have any ideas on what riot could possibly do make sure to vote up the thread if you want riot to see this <3Bard have a magical journey on the rift summoner .

I find normals super frustrating. The biggest problem is that most people don't want to play support. I know I don't. It leads to troll picks and duo lanes which leads to shitty games and reports. Believe it or not, most of the trouble I've gotten into has come from normals in League with issues with supports.

AFK's are also a pretty common thing. Yes, it's sometimes possible to win 4v5, but it's a lot easier to win 5v5.

Remember, by you "playing for fun", you are screwing the rest of the players games up who are playing for training and to win.
