Wow. This Player Behavior Section is So DEPRESSING

ZevBenjamin·6/11/2018, 7:27:27 PM·22 votes·10,917 views

Literally. Everyone is complaining about the amount of trolls, feeders, people that use abusive language in game, and why people aren't getting banned for etc.

I can't find one positive post about anything.

Has the community always been this depraved in decorum / sportsmanship? Jesus.

Dude, player behavior is the biggest issue that League faces. This game inherently causes people to get frustrated and tilt. I started playing in 2009 with six of my friends and all of them quit because of the toxicity they repeatedly faced in games. Now I am the only one left. I'm like Nautilus, I just keep going "forward... forward..."

Shukr4n6/11/2018, 7:34:46 PM10 votes

usually the ones happy are playing the game.

usually u expect game to be neutral or positive. in that case u play.

if u find negative stuff u usually report them on forum.

i guess

There are actually a lot more people in the community who are sportsmanlike, but you won't hear or see about it because most of the time only people who are unhappy about something will feel motivated to come to the boards and talk about it.

Happy people don't dissent, so you don't hear from those happy people here. They're out there, somewhere, I hope.

Kei1436/11/2018, 8:15:15 PM5 votes

Well it is player behavior afterall.

The main people whom make new posts here are the ones that got punished by the system and are angry about it.

Most the time, they either don't understand how the system works or they are in denial that they are at fault.

Sona Ping6/11/2018, 7:36:17 PM5 votes

Player Behaviour is the "complain about trolls and ask why you got banned" board.

Don't worry too much over it.

Warlord Rhinark6/11/2018, 7:38:19 PM5 votes

What Player Behaviour board are you on?

The one I'm on is the one where people get banned for being toxic and then blames Riot for everything, not holding themselves responsible for any of their actions.

potchiker6/11/2018, 7:31:44 PM4 votes

Yes, Thats League of Legends for ya

420 grams6/11/2018, 7:33:54 PM3 votes

That's competitive gaming for you. The only reason why you probably don't see other games complain as much is because it's all on voice chat and nobody ever gets banned.

Scuttle6/11/2018, 8:45:19 PM3 votes

Because no one's going to come here to put anything positive. It's MEANT to be a discussion about bad behavior, really.

Hibiscûs6/11/2018, 9:11:17 PM2 votes

It's because the community needs a massive clean-up/purge of toxic, entitled, and trolling players. We don't need trolls, hateful people, and entitled dickheads in our game.

I AM VBAD6/11/2018, 7:47:36 PM2 votes

boards in general and especially player behavior are pretty much for complaining. look at your own post - complaining about all the complaining. that is just what the boards are for. do you expect people to come on here and write about how someone was nice to them in a game? it happens sometimes but it usually makes a pretty boring post.

Nea1046/11/2018, 11:18:14 PM2 votes

Maybe because Riot basically doesn't punish anyone, probably not to lose even more players? The only bannable things are the potentially "legally risky" things, like the ky- thing.

Sylvester Dylone6/11/2018, 11:37:30 PM2 votes

People are honestly such babies. Like this is the internet. Learn to take a hit!

I haven't found the community to be all that toxic when I'm playing. I think people are running into it because they're either doing it themselves or just want something to cry about.

HavinABadTiem6/12/2018, 2:58:53 AM2 votes

The issue is that people have become apathetic to other players and have lately just resorted to flamebaiting ingame as they tend to do in any game that is dying. They want to test the system because it really doesn't matter anymore if they get banned since they can move on to a better game, like Runescape or tic-tac-toe.

It is not like the Gameplay boards are any different

Budget Yami6/11/2018, 7:48:34 PM1 votes

I agree with what you are saying but the discussion is kinda complaining as well. Sorry I'm bored af rn and just saw this lol

SpecterVonBaren6/11/2018, 9:15:57 PM1 votes

When has any majority of people come to forums just to say what a great time they're having? Or do you believe the world is a hell hole on the brink of annihilation because the news covers more negative stories than positive?

rtbf2256182416/11/2018, 9:28:41 PM1 votes

Well people are assholes everywhere. League is a competitive game that injects frustration into a person's brain and sees how they behave. Me, personally, i just put people in their place via sarcasm or a simple "Muted and reported" when things get out of hand. It's all about how you handle those children. That doesn't mean there aren't any nice people out there.

Phhase6/12/2018, 5:23:55 AM1 votes

League is infamous for this. For me, the most reliable, easy way to get that knee-jerk meaness is to jungle in URF (Bite me). 90% of the time, you get this inglorious, frothing rage that I just LOVE to prove wrong when I gank the lane with level 3 while the rest are level 1.

Woodakoodashooda6/12/2018, 8:42:23 AM1 votes

The official boards are a minority of the actual league community. If you want an answer to your question then I suggest playing some games for yourself and see how many players actually express negative behavior.

You have to understand that there are 10 people playing in SR. Chances are that at least one of them is going to react negatively to things not going their way. And that's what people tend to take away from their games. That one person that just ruined an otherwise enjoyable experience for nine other people.

Flawless Fetus6/11/2018, 11:47:35 PM1 votes

To be fair, I don't think many people are going to come make a post if they have a troll free, toxicity free game. If everyone in the game is overwhelmingly positive, sure, maybe. But a toxicity free game? I don't think so. So half of it is "no one talks about the neutral/good games". Also, I'd guess part of that is because neutral/good games are the norm. Let's pretend that the vast majority of league games were toxic, I think we'd see a lot more "toxic free game" posts. Contrary to popular belief, though, most games aren't super toxic. So people come post about their rare outlying games - the extremely toxic games. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of feeders, trolls, etc around. I just don't believe that they're the majority.

Has the community always been this depraved in decorum / sportsmanship?

Have you actually played League of Legends for any serious length of time without encountering soul-wrenching chathorror and depravity at least once a month or so?

If that's true, you are the luckiest human being alive, and you need to go out and buy, like, a million lottery tickets.

shoe65356/12/2018, 2:13:52 AM1 votes

riot can't really do much about it, but what they can do is automatically ban anyone that says an offensive key word lmao

No lie, it used to be worse around S2/S1.

TonyTonyMordecai6/12/2018, 2:38:46 AM1 votes

To be honest, Leagues community is one of the most vocal in game (chat box, unhelpful pings) and it’s hard to play a team game as a solo player when there are more of the unhelpful players than the cheerful ones (muting pings, emotes and chat for one or the whole team), when I play a game like Heroes of the Storm, I get less numbers of the “League players” (the ones who preach how bad everyone is and spam pings on one player) and get the ones who barely use chat and use pings to communicate quickly, and in a very cooperative way. It honestly don’t know why it’s so bad here and different in some online communities. Maybe it’s just the way the game is that makes people get more angsty.

Tewljr6/13/2018, 2:34:04 AM1 votes

What I do when facing toxicity is to agree with the toxicity if it's not that bad, or if it is a complete lie about why or how they are losing because that is most toxicity is to just not to post anything in chat.

Go find a post by Riot Tantram read everyone's reaction to it. Only positive thing you'll find here.

Raeyxx6/11/2018, 7:49:45 PM1 votes

People who post positive stuff tend to get downvoted to high hell. (Because God forbid someone give Riot praise for anything.)

Or at least, this is what I've noticed over the past couple of years lurking among the boards.
