Current Toxicity Levels: An Observeration
So for the last month or so I actually think most of my games have been a lot more fun and friendly, and people haven't really seemed out of line. A few people here and there, but I actually was beginning to think the league community was turning around for the better.
I made it up to gold 1 from gold 4 with zero issues, even skipped a few ranks.
I've done my Gold 1 promos 2-3 times now?
I swear I've had to report people in almost every game, I'm not upset that I lost the series, I really don't care, I'll get back to it again. But there is a certain level of toxic ragey players that seem to exist when you are in a promo match. It happens like clockwork, you can win normal games and enjoy them to no end win and lose, and people are generally nice. As soon as you get into a promotional match, you get the 'I've just lost 7 straight games Lee Sin', who just wants to blame everyone and rage. Or someone who is having a good laugh by playing AP Alistar jungle so they can spam the joke all game.
I know Riot says we care about these games more so we tend to view people as more hostile in others games that we would normally overlook something.
I just don't buy that anymore. It is one thing to play against harder opponents in a promotional match. It is another thing to match the player with lesser skilled team mates. That is fine, it is obvious it happens to some degree, and it probably helps determine a players real skill level. But you know what isn't OK? Adding in players who are just plain toxic, it makes you just not want to play the game, it puts players on tilt who are normally fun to play with. I feel bad playing with my friends if I'm in a promotional match because it feels like I'm subjected them to torture.
