So I could understand a perma chat mute, but seriously perma ban for using big boy words when there is a language filter AND a mute button? I know this community is a bunch of pussys but come on lol.

You're not banned for language choice. You can swear on the boards and in the game all you want. You're banned for harassing your teammates.

Calling them bad is just as likely to get you banned as calling them dipshits and fucking morons. Neither are acceptable in the community. You're expected to keep negative thoughts to yourself. You agreed to in the TOS, and people that don't follow the TOS are banned.

Calling a teammate bad is just saying they are playing badly and is in no way somethjing you can report someone for. But harrassing them is another thing. If I see someone go 0/5 and tell him he's playing badly he can't report me for telling him that I'm just saying he has a bad score. Obviously actually harrassing them fro having a bad game is reportable and should be done, it's bad to abuse teammates and enemies, unless you all understand that it's a joke and agree to it.

It might not feel like you're harassing them to you, but that person might already feel pretty bad about their score, and all telling them they're bad will do is make them feel worse (and possibly play worse). You don't need to tell them they're bad. Instead of trying to judge them, you should try focusing on encouraging them and helping them.

"Kayle you're 0/5, stop being bad" - doesn't help anyone "Kayle, can you hug tower for 2 minutes until I can gank?" - much better.

If you don't want to try to help that person, it's okay to just say nothing too.

thats funny because thats how i talk to teamates who do badly unless they are purposely trolling. but they are playing just enough to where riot ignores them.

no one talks like that. I usually say to my teammate: you're 0/3 don't engage and wait for help, but then after 10 seconds I see them die under the enemy tower. I say again that they should play safe, and just after that he's 0/5. He can't complain if I tell him to stop playing like that or if I tell him he's bad, I alredy told him he has to play it safe 2-3 times and he just didn't listen. But really I'm not harrassing them, I'm telling them to stop doing stupid things, which is an advice, not harrassment. If then you feel harrassed then it's your problem. What you're saying is pretty much "don't tell that 0/5 zed to jump in a 1 vs 5 on the full hp fed darius or he might feel bad about it" you can't feel butthurt over everything, especially when someone already told you not to do something stupid and you still do it. I understand it might hurt, but there are a lot of things you gotta take into consideration. Especially since that 0/5 might be flaming enough to take brand's spot in the league. I might have phrased my post a bit badly (can happen, i've got a bit of headache), but depending on the situation using strong (but not straight up offensive) words might be acceptable. And calling someone bad is not offensive in any way (unless it's backed up with something else), if you feel offended by beying called bad by itself... well that's your problem, you can't ask everyone to be the good guy who tells you "it's not your fault" since you are in a community, you gotta accept that you did a mistake and grow from it, even go as far as to ask what did you missplay if you don't understand it (that is if you really care about improving), not cry that someone didn't tell you you were the best just to make you happy. I'm not defending the guy who opened this, his words were meant to be offensive and should be punished for that, just saying that a lot of people really overreact and cry about anything, reporting for thing you shouldn't be reportable for, like calling someone bad or telling them they made a mistake.

There's actually a pretty huge difference between calling someone bad and telling them they made a mistake. One is an insult to that person's ability and the other is a correction.

You should always try to be nice/sportsmanlike when you communicate with other people: If you wouldn't speak like that in real life to a random 10 year old kid on a soccer team, you shouldn't speak like that in game. It's against the rules to be unsportsmanlike. If you can't phrase what you want to say politely with good intentions, you really shouldn't be saying anything at all.

Lastly, I'd honestly suggest against telling players what to do just because they had a bad game. I doubt many people will appreciate it.

The problem here is the community. If I tell you you made a mistake (I mean you probably are making a lot of them if you're 0/5) that you could avoid in a way I told you, if you don't accept it or appreciate it I can't do much about that, I'm trying to help you not offend you, I mean: you made those mistakes, now was it a bad game or just the norm for you you made them, there's no denying it, and if you don't appreciate it just say you don't appreciate that or that you know and are just having a bad game, that's what people call sportsmanlike, you might even receive honor from me for that but if you try to get me reported from 1000000 people that is another thing, which a lot of people do lately. Just to say, I've been reported after complimentig someone for verbal abuse mind you and I usually have the friendly badge of honor, so usually I'm neither toxic nor a dick to anyone during games.

I myself when a better player tells me that I made a mistake and explains to me what I missplayed I tend to accept the advice, not feel bad about it, I want to improve so if someone better than me tryes to help (or even someone "worse" that noticed my mistake) and tells me what I did wrong I'm quite happy and I will try to either play taking that mistake into account (if I'm still not able to prevent doying it) or I will not do it again (if I finally understood how to prevent it).

Yeah, it's definitely not always a bad thing. You just don't know how the other person will feel before you say it, so you should try to phrase things nicely. That's all I'm saying.

Oh I would LOVE to see your chat logs. I'm sure everyone else would too.

Also: Consistently showing toxic behavior in chat WILL eventually result in a permanent ban if you don't change your ways. Many players go YEARS without getting a single punishment. I've been playing for one year already and have never received any form of punishment.

I've been playing since season 1, and the only punishments I've gotten were two warnings on the boards, both of which were earned. This is also with me being very willing to join in an argument with people in game if they are becoming a menace to my other team members. I'd rather have a rager focused on me than my team.

If you don't want to get punished it's insanely easy to play, and use chat, without being toxic.

The boards doesn't actually affect you in game since the moderators for the boards are a separate 3rd party. And yeah it is really easy to just play the game to have fun and not be toxic or get punished at all. I'd try to diffuse situations as well if I can, unless I don't think I can find a way to diffuse it.

I just felt the warnings on the boards should be mentioned, otherwise it wouldn't be a completely true statement that I haven't been punished.

I've only had one warning on the boards. Though it was when someone had hacked a RIOTER account and I was trying to get the attention of a RIOTER about it. After seeing what I did wrong I put in a support ticket letting them now that a RIOTER had been hacked and the hacker was spamming boards about a scripting site.

But in game... Not a single warning/punishment so far and I plan to keep it that way. That is the part I was talking about on not getting punished.

Permanent ban for just that is impossible. That is handed out for consistently horrible behavior despite warnings.

You can submit a ticket and ask Riot Support but I'm certain this was not the result of one incident.

yea i understand that but um once again language filter and mute buttons Oh and the game they banned me on i had a full party of friends lmao. so yea this communitys just a bunch of panzis who need a safezone from negative words and they only had one chatlog to show me and the majority of it was my messages to my friends.

Again, unless you're using racial slurs there are no words you can say that will get you punished. It's all about intent. You went out of your way to insult allies in a way that is against the terms of service you agreed to. You agreed to follow those behavioral guidelines, and you didn't.

Now you get the agreed upon punishments. Maybe next time you should read the terms of service before agreeing to it.
