Getting banned because I support Trump - 2016!?!?

Hello there!

So, it seems I've been suspended until june,20 for asking people to vote for Trump - 2016... and no, I wasn't racist in any way. I didn't receive any e-mails explaining to me why I was suspended. The "worst" thing I've said (which I can remember) is that "Trump will get rid of potheads, meth mouths and imbeciles like Tyler1 (Thanks for banning him, Rito! Hehe xD)". As far as I know, I have freedom of speech to initiate conversations in game, right? As long as I don't troll and play like a normal human being? Thanks in advance, guys! Still waiting on that explanation e-mail!

You don't have chat logs because you weren't banned by an automated system, but by manual review. You need to contact player support.

( and no, you weren't banned for political banter )

I think people are getting ahead of themselves trying to explain why "supporting trump" got this guy banned.

He doesn't know why he was banned, the trump thing is just a guess. And tbh, probably wrong.

OP, if you didn't get an email or there are no chat logs when you login to the game then you need to submit a support ticket to find out the reason.

You have the right to express your thoughts and opinions, yes. That doesn't mean that this is an appropriate setting for such things. We're here to play a game; dragging politics into the mix is not going to make things more fun, and will more than likely cause unnecessary conflict.

Even now, I'm resisting expressing my own political opinion (such as it is) because you've introduced the topic. Please find a more suitable forum if you wish to advocate for or against any political candidate or policy.

We might be able to help shed light on the reason for the ban if you could share with us the chat logs that led to the ban. They should be available when you log in to the client.

I would like to point something out about Freedom of Speech that a lot of people seem to get confused on. This comes from Ulanopo's Knowledge Base.

Freedom of Speech!!!!!

Doesn't apply. No really. If we're talking about American law, the First Amendment only applies to the government making laws that prohibit speech and, even then, freedom of speech isn't absolute. For example, you can't incite a riot, plan to kill the president or yell fire in a crowded theater.

Also, there's nothing in the First Amendment that protects you from the consequences of your speech. People are fired all the time for making derogatory comments about their employer. My workplace, for example, has a social media policy that says that I can be terminated for badmouthing the company. They don't ask for passwords and access as some companies have been known to do, but it wouldn't be all that difficult to find me on the internet, knowing my real name, phone number and address.

I think Trump supporters need a brain check. Freedom of speech, fam.

If this is a troll post then I must say, congrats : 7/10

If you're serious... You do NOT have "freedom of speech" in an online video game. Your speech is subject to the whims of the administrators of the server for which you are using, in this case, Riot Games. If you were being completely honest, and I have a hard time accepting that given the history of these boards, then I don't necessarily see why you would receive a two week suspension.

However... if you have received a two week suspension then you have almost certainly received punishments before your ban... usually a ten (10) or twenty-five (25) game chat restriction. This means that you have had opportunities to reform your behavior and did not take that opportunity. Once your suspension ends and you continue to exhibit behavior that has lead to your previous punishments then you will likely receive a permanent ban.

While I wouldn't report for political speech in game... some would. This is a video game, most people play games for enjoyment/entertainment or as an escape from the real world for awhile. The last thing most people want to discuss in games are politics. Frankly, I don't want to hear it either... I don't care what your views are, I don't know them, I don't want to know them. Save it for the bar, your social circles or parties, keep it out of gaming, thanks.

This will be the first time I agree with a ban. Trump = racism. Cheers from Latam

Please, don't try to lecture me about freedom of speech. What I'm saying is that there's nothing in the summoner's code about "talking about polytics while playing". Although I agree it's not the "best" place to discuss about it, It certainly isn't an offense, according to the company's own rules. I also didn't receive any e-mail explaining to me why I was suspended (in which, if it was the case, I could at least adjust my behaviour to suit the community's needs). I don't have the logs, how can I get them?

TheRealBaz6/9/2016, 1:42:29 PM2 votes

well you are supporting racism

Oleandervine6/7/2016, 7:42:49 PM1 votes

You could have been banned for soliciting. Commercial soliciting, whether it is for political agendas or for business agendas, is usually bankable offense in most games.

Edit: Nevermind.

Extremely non relevant chat can get booked as spam in chat if you are reported enough. Doing that every game can greatly increase those chances. If that was the "worst thing you said" it clearly means you were spending quite a bit of time spamming chat with your political views. As a general idea if you are doing something that you think you will have to defend yourself for DON'T DO IT.

Not a surprise a Trump support has been banned for toxicity.

Riot Customer Support is pretty horrible on all accounts. I have had a technical issue on this account since the beginning of the season and literally no Riot CS takes it seriously. I took this issue to the Better Business Bureau and I am the reason that Riot was moved from a D rating to an F.

http://www.bbb.org/losangelessiliconvalley/business-reviews/video-games-dealers/riot-games-in-los-angeles-ca-1013443

Because Riot has given you no response, its probably safe to say that some simple minded log monkey who thinks their IQ went up magically because they became an Atheist and Liberal, found it Righteous and Absolutely **Just ** to ban you. I find it upsetting that anyone would feel zealous enough to ban someone for expressing a political belief.

Riots to blame for the state of their CS department, they seem to apply their awesome manifest(http://www.riotgames.com/riot-manifesto) to every aspect of their company except their Customer Service Department.

I think Riot as a video game company in terms of Game Play, Passion, and Innovation is cutting edge, courageous, and amazing, but their Customer Support is basically comprised of 20 something intellectually stunted narcissistic idiots who answer tedious tickets from a Que in a delusional attempt to climb a non-existent latter into the company. I know because I was a narcissistic idiot who Game Mastered at Sony Online Entertainment about 5 years ago.

I wish Riot would apply the same ideals they express so beautifully in their Manifest(http://www.riotgames.com/riot-manifesto) to their customer support and legal team. How can a Customer Support Employee live up to these standards expressed in the manifest when they are comprised of 10 dollar an hour temps who have their dreams exploited by a billion dollar corporation.

You might think there is no other choice but for Riot to treat their CS employees like Bus Boys. You might think that Riot has to simply recruit individuals from the Food Stamp line in order to field CS Employees, But Blizzard Customer Support is amazing. Its the Bernie Sanders of Customer Support, extremely delusional and fanatically striving for ideals that can't be reached. But that passion and vigor makes Blizzard Customers feel really appreciated and loved.

I think Riots next round of improvements should be in Customer Support.

First I would say that politics have nothing to do with the game so pls keep that stuff out. I am pretty sure you did it in some aggressive way that annoys people.

About Trump: I can see why people would like him. Charismatic and funny but achieved nothing in his live (except that Trump got enough from his father to at least look lime something). If he handles the US as well as his business than NA will still be great but less great than before him. I see why people would not like you to talk about him or ask people to vote for him while they want to relax and have some fun.
