I was just chat banned for this:

It doesn't show what other players were typing, it doesn't give any context, just this.

i have spent good money on this game, as well as a lot of other people i know that get continually harassed by chat bans. You say a small amount of players get bans, but banned for this? ridiculous!

Any player or group of players can just report at any time. Is this some sort of safe place? what kind of nanny state is this?

Woah, can't you just stfu and play the game instead of insulting your team and stuff? You're a pretty annoying person ingame.

Btw. you should change your attitude. After the chat restrictions a 14 day ban will follow. and finally a permanent suspension of your account, regardless of how much money you spent (if you not change).

this isnt what the report functions for its what the mute function is for..... no death threats no nothing and it sounds like it was aimed at a troll that fed....

also op you have to remember who it is your chatting with. most LoL/moba players are like 5 year olds despite being largely adults..

Savage Devi is correct. Riot considers "being directly offensive to someone" (as stated on their "Reporting a Player" page) a reportable offense. The example they use is someone saying "I am Darius. Prepare to get DUNKED. GG easy, ****ing bot noobs!" I would have to say that some of what is shown in that chat log is even a fair bit worse than that example. Based on that, I would say the ban is justified.

However, it seems to me that the point of this post is to say that OP feels Riot is being too harsh. I guess it's pointless to say that since Devi wasn't addressing OP, but rather Leaugesbane's claims about the report function and who the toxicity was aimed at. Mah bad.

Anyways, moving on. It honestly doesn't matter what any player thinks is acceptable chat. What matters is what Riot thinks is acceptable chat. Is it acceptable to call another player a festizio? You may think that is perfectly alright, but if Riot disagrees, then they are probably going to punish you for doing so.

tl;dr: You are playing Riot's game. You need to abide by Riot's rules. If you don't, then you just might find yourself getting a spanking. [slayer-jinx-wink]

A delightful read :) I must add: they're not Riot's rules. They're our rules. What's punishable and what isn't, the line has been set by the players. You could literally get away with intentional feeding if the community would choose to not report that type of behavior.

I see your point. Though they are still technically Riot's rules, it's just up to the players to point out who is breaking them (since Riot obviously can't keep track of everything every player is doing and saying). For example, it is not against Riot's rules to say "I do not appreciate the way you are acting towards me" but somebody might still report you for saying that. The report would be unjustified since what was said does not break any of Riot's rules. Of course you're right, if people intentionally feed, AFK, act toxic/racist/homophobic/sexist, or do any of the other things that are against Riot's rules, they probably aren't going to get punished if nobody reports them for it.

tl;dr: They are Riot's rules, we're just the pointer fingers of justice.

Now that's not exactly true, what the automated system considers punishable is more set by players than Riot. For example, in Korea, calling another player "silver" is more punishable than calling someone "bronze", which differs from other regions. That was not set by Riot, but the sensibilities of Korean players, and the system picked up on that.

You can use the chat for something other then insulting someone (or trash talk or what ever) like as you mentioned, telling your team that they did a good job or make some calls or just have a nice conversation with the enemy team or your team ... That would be a good chat history and that's what the chat is for.

false reports still flag the "you have been reported" stuff also he did it in an effort to get our of restrictions fast and he ended up with a increase in total restrictions at the end of the current one.

and no he didnt do anything else if you cant adapt to a report function like lyte has it means the report fnction its self is screwy
