Uplift my PermaBan

HalfBakedX2··4 votes·7,268 views

I want to know how i can uplift this. its ridiculous that i say two words of passive aggressive motivation and i get banned for it. Ive sunk my time and money and computer blood into this game and all i want to do is play it on my account. Ive had my bad days, but all in all ive have more good ones, and it sucks that when youre stuck in a shitty elo, and constantly carry games that i get perma banned because losers on my team afk or feed non stop. This is coming from someone who is pretty much broke and loves to spend his time on this game. if anything i would at least like my money refunded to me that i sunk in over the last however many years ive been playing this game. I would much rather prefer my account though. Is there any email or any direction someone can give me as to how i can get it back . id rather have a permenant chat ban than not be able to play at all.

Thanks, one sad leaguer Amumu

You have been punished numerous times, and during the previous punishment you were told it was your final warning. You said a lot more than two words of passive aggressive motivation for your most recent punishment. In fact, a number of games were referenced. You were given many chances to change your behavior, but opted not to.

Permanent chat restrictions are not a punishment we issue, nor would we consider it.

Congratulations, but maybe you should start reading the WHOLE chat log, i don't think its fair of you guys to constantly punish one person out of a HUGE amount of flaming people on one or both teams that happen to direct their anger towards one specific player (which lets face it you know it happens) , claiming the player behavior system works for so long when it doesn't is only going to make things worse.

Astôlfo9 votes

Or no, you could realize there's no excuse to being an ass.

ChocolateHearts2 votes

Or even better, you could realize there's always more then one person being an ass and always one lucky one that gets away.

Astôlfo6 votes

Or even better, you could just report them and not be one of said asshats.

ChocolateHearts2 votes

If that was as easy said as done and not to mention effectively. we wouldn't even need this section of forums.

Astôlfo7 votes

Nah, this section of the forum exists so us normal players can have a good laugh at those who aren't.

Kei1436 votes

actually, it is easier done than said.

Its not hard to click "mute" and "report", instead of spending minutes of ingame time typing (espeically where you could have been making a play to make a come back.)

All that huge amount gets banned, not just this person. Stop.

ChocolateHearts2 votes

No it doesn't. Even check dunkeys game where he was banned, check out the comments on malphite. Riot knows not everyone gets punished.

Roaranor14 votes

a fucking worthless braindead scumfuck bastard pile of trash mental dickface that should be gunned down in the street like the degenerate you are

This seems pretty banworthy. That game involving the Malphite wasn't even the game that got Dunkey banned (as confirmed by Riot Lyte himself in an ask.fm question. That means that just like OP in this thread, Dunkey had multiple infractions that led up to his ban. It wasn't even a permaban, it was a 14-day ban at that.

Everyone that consistently shows highly toxic behavior at some point will receive punishment. It may not always immediately escalate like you want it to, but it happens. And the people that intentionally troll don't bother making forum posts because they realize their behavior warranted punishment. It's players like OP and Dunkey that think verbal abuse is okay that make threads and videos about how "it's just words" and "we shouldn't be banned over a little tough talk". If Malphite was a one-time offender, then he likely faced a smaller punishment such as chat restriction and his next offense would've escalated to a 14-day ban.

RiotRiot Tantram11 votes

There wasn't a Malphite in the games taken into account for Dunkey's punishment.

People are very rarely punished for a single game, but if they are it's for extreme cases. If a player has a single off game, they likely won't be punished. If a player shows a history of being toxic, they will very likely be punished. The cases you are talking about where people exhibiting like behavior and only one being punished is a manifestation of this. The person who didn't get punished was having an off game, but the person who was punished is showing their normal behavior.

I am going to sticky this in my quick access bar, so I can use this when ever someone references dunkey.

Why are permanent chat restrictions not a viable punishment?

RiotRiot Tantram15 votes

When we permanently ban players we want them to spend their time elsewhere. Permanent bans are reserved for players who were either extremely toxic (hate speech etc.) or refused to improve after numerous warnings.

Chat restrictions are our way of helping players realize their behavior is not acceptable, and shielding their behaviors from other players while allowing them a chance to improve.

This is why we provide chat logs and information about why we punished them. We aren't looking for ways to keep extremely toxic players in the community, which is why we do not issue permanent chat restrictions.

If a player wants to hide their chat on screen and communicate with pings, they are of course welcome to do it. That is them recognizing they have an issue and attempting to fix it.

Kei1431 votes

TANTRAM !!

can I bring your attention to these suggestions on providing players with "feedback"?

I just want to know if you guys have read it, thats all.

Z Statistic1 votes

I can understand being unwilling to let people who spew hate use chat. They have clearly shown that they will abuse a microphone if given the chance. I'm confused as to how that translates to game bans of any duration instead of just just progressively more stringent chat bans until permanently.

As an example, boosting does not incur chat restrictions even though it is strictly against the rules. Professional players can be let go from LCS but not strictly banned in game for poor sportsmanship. Forum behavior only affects forum access, not game access. It is perfectly acceptable in Riot's eyes to not talk at all and simply use pings for communication. Thus, while it could be theoretically true that chat restricted or banned players have less efficient gameplay through restricted communication, practically, it's not noticeable else riot would be taking a more severe stance on not communicating with chat.

So with that in mind, why is communication abuse treated so differently from other kinds of abuses? Is there a lot of empirical evidence showing that simply permanently chat restricting players does not accomplish the same good as outright banning them?

Cosnirak2 votes

It's not about their game play being diminished by their inability to chat. It's about the fact we don't want people who are willing to talk like that in the game at all. If you're willing to chat in ways that get you permabanned you're almost certainly willing to do things besides chat that are not ok to do in League.

Z Statistic1 votes

You're saying that someone who is willing to use every slur under the sun is more likely to cheat, exploit, boost, or scam?

That is extremely presumptuous of you. Do you have a source that this is the case?

Cosnirak1 votes

I'm not saying that. I'm saying they're more likely to troll. When they can't rage with their words they will rage with their actions. Intentionally feeding, taking buffs someone else on their team was supposed to get, spam emotes at their allies to annoy them, ect.

Z Statistic1 votes

Are they? Because that's still extremely presumptuous.

Cosnirak1 votes

In my experience it's extremely probable. Not presumptuous in the slightest. Is it guaranteed? Of course not. But the odds are high enough that just permabanning someone from chat alone for what they say is not worth it.

Angry Monster1 votes

So with that in mind, why is communication abuse treated so differently from other kinds of abuses? Is there a lot of empirical evidence showing that simply permanently chat restricting players does not accomplish the same good as outright banning them?

false? First of the rioter said

When we permanently ban players we want them to spend their time elsewhere.

They do not want the player around anymore, they do not care if they want to spend another thousand on the game.

Permanently muting people has shown from the past that people keep playing the game, not quit it.

So you are very wrong and very clueless.

Z Statistic1 votes

That quote leaves the nagging question that while Riot does permanently ban players that the community deems toxic, will they remain doing so? Unless I'm thinking too much into it and it's just an oversimplification of the banning process (stop reforming and start removing).

But then we're back to where we started: why are chat offenses treated differently from other offenses in respect to the relation between offense and punishment?

Angry Monster1 votes

will they remain doing so?

Unless you can predict the future it is a useless question. Though if you want to consider past performance as an indicator, then yes they will. Riot has only been more strict as time has gone on when it comes to punishments. As a company they are realizing that A) its not there job to teach people and B) people mostly do not want to change.

why are chat offenses treated differently from other offenses in respect to the relation between offense and punishment?

Um..... again you are wrong, so you really need to stop. I mean seriously, think before you throw out random accusations.

They are not treated different, one is easier to detect than the other. It is harder to tell who is having a bad game from intentionally ruining a game. You have to consider is the person just tilting or is this a long term pattern. Also has the meta shifted are they on new champs, are they duoing with someone way better than them in hopes of a carry.

With text it is just a lot easier if they are breaking the rules. Are they homophobic or racist? look at the langue used and ban. Riot does not care about the situation that communication is used in, CONTEXT has never matter to RIot.

Z Statistic1 votes

They are not treated different, one is easier to detect than the other.

Your response makes no sense unless you're talking to a strawman in your head and not me.

Tell me how telling people to kill themselves in game is easier to detect in game than on the forums. They are both right there in print being told to other players. You did not read my post entirely else you would have seen that I was comparing chat offenses to exploits, LCS offenses, forum bans, and the like. I didn't even use intentional feeding as an example at all. Those are your words.

This is slightly off-topic, but why is Riot allowed to ban someone for freedom of speech..? Last I checked, that's entirely unlawful, aside from the fact that the game centers around killing each other (murder) and some extreme violent and sexually-themed situations.

This is what comes to mind when you ban someone for using words:

Random military man (Player): "Are you ready for war, you dirty bastards?" Enemy General (Riot): "Whoa, whoa, whoa... Time out, soldier. I can't take that kind of language." Random military man (Player): "What are you talking about? Your men just raped and murdered my twelve year old daughter.." Enemy General (Riot): "That may be so, but at least they didn't use dirty words."

Seriously, Riot. What. The. F*ck. Is wrong with you guys?

Hell, the game's even rated T for Teen. You show me a teenager in today's world who doesn't cuss up a storm, and I'll show you a sheltered child who shouldn't be playing violent video games in the first place.

I know this post is pointless, but someone needs to say it: "Your game is awesome, but you guys are f*cking pansies."

That is some awfully mature name-calling, bro. But what you clearly fail to understand is that what they're doing 100% violates freedom of speech by providing a punishment of unequal value. Think of a dog barking in public, and the owner decides to put him down, instead of placing a muzzle on his face. It's no different than what Riot does; they "kill" your account, instead of simply silencing you. The funny thing about that is EVERYONE has their own personal silencing tool, but they would rather complain to mommy and daddy (Riot) instead of make use of it.

Astôlfo7 votes

Except… That doesn't apply to this. Freedom of speech only applies to government and them being unable to punish you just for criticizing government or whatever. But then there's slander and malediction or what have you, which are still legal crimes. So... If you need a real life example, think about work. You call your boss an asshole, you can claim freedom of speech all you want, you're still getting fired. And no, freedom of speech doesn't apply. And stop overreacting, it's not your account anyways. It's Riot's. They're just letting you use it. Also, the mute tool is not an excuse to be an asshole.

So… I fail to see any point in your attempt at an argument. Key word being attempt.

404 Terror1 votes

I get all of that. I do. It's just... there has to be some way around it. Toxic people don't bother me; I just mute them and play the game. I know Riot has stated many times they don't want to create a 'prison island' where all the negative players are queue'd with each other, but I honestly believe that is a much better solution than a complete removal of an account. People pay actual money to obtain things for that specific account; it should only be fair that they continue to be able to use that account, even if they've jeopardized it in such a way that it becomes part of the unpopular 'prison island' queue system.

Astôlfo4 votes

People shouldn't have to mute. Mute is an emergency solution until the actual ban/chat restriction is given. And people paid money willingly. It's not their money anymore. It's Riot's. They also don't own their account, it's also Riot's. Riot is merely lending you use. They state in the TOC that they have the right to remove/suspend/delete/etc accounts any time without notice or liability. Obviously, it's a safety measure. That doesn't mean they blindly remove accounts.

If a person is stupid or toxic enough to be banned, they no longer deserve usage of the account Riot lent to them. Therefore, Riot takes it back. Prisoner's island just means the toxic/troublemakers get to keep playing and continually get worse due to being surrounded by such. That's not good.

Astôlfo2 votes

No. No one gives a shit about your real life problems. They have nothing to do with it. You have no right to shit on others just because you feel like venting. And the permabans are working perfectly fine. It gets rid of toxic people that no one wants. So no, there doesn't need to be any alternative. And no, they should not be free to do so, unless they want a quick perma.

The perma ban keeps this game light-hearted and fun to play. Because it gets rid of the ones that make it otherwise.

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

....what.

  1. Freedom of speech is a right you can ask to your government. Riot has no power on you, so they have no duty towards you.
  2. Freedom of speech doesn't include insulting others. IT DOESN'T. Being aggressive means crossing the line of other people's freedom with yours, which you guys that base your country on "muh fridum" should somewhat care about.
  3. ...Riot doesn't kill anyone. This is a game about fictional characters being represented in a conflict setting that is virtual even for their universe. They're not coming to your house and forcing you to have a fistfight with other people. You chose to PLAY WITH those people. When you go with 10 friends at a football field and make two teams, do you start serially wishing cancer to the opponents? And those are people you're familiar with, why would you do it to strangers?
Dessem1 votes

but why is Riot allowed to ban someone for freedom of speech..?

It's because "Freedom of Speech", as protected by the American First Amendment, only applies between the government and you. The government isn't allowed to censor what you say or do, but companies are allowed to do so because the First Amendment isn't a ticket to do whatever you please and get away with it.

A company has the fundamental right to police its own products and store, as much as a teacher is allowed to tell you to get the fuck out of his classroom when you call him a retarded hillbilly. When you say the government is corrupt, however, they're not allowed to sic the FBI on you and make you disappear, nor are they allowed to check the contents of newspapers and approve them for publication as in some countries happens.

Moreover, Riot's not against cussing. They're against hate speech and toxicity. There's a difference between, "Holy shit, that was fucking awesome!" and "You fucking autist, I hope your mother gets raped and dies of cancer". One of these is 'cussing', the other is toxicity.

No its his money, Riot runs because of OUR money. Literally what keeps most players around is how much money they've spent out of their own wallets.

Astôlfo10 votes

Except, he willingly gave it to Riot in exchange for skins/champions/what have you. So no, it's Riot's money. And if Riot really wanted just money, why would they ban you? They'd keep you around so you'd keep spending money. They care more about toxicity than said toxic little shit's few bucks.

They care less about toxicity then anything else in this game lmao. The problem with the community is still as strong as ever.
