First Time or Int?

So there was this Ivern I had. Everyone on VC was laughing about how bad he was, and although I understood it was his first time with a relatively tricky champion, it was also clear that he was trolling (everyone else in the premade was aware, mind you.) The guy took him top and fed a Malzahar, and when I criticized his more than lackluster gameplay in chat everyone else snapped on me for being "toxic" and to be lenient to the guy who was trying to pick up a champion. But the premade team was fully aware that not all of his mistakes were due to lack of champion knowledge. So riddle me this, dear League community. I'm trying to keep my cool, BUT Where does one draw the line between inting and just not knowing how to do stuff?

Inting has the purposeful intent to lose the game. Not knowing how to do stuff while trying his hardest to win will never be considered as inting.

Keyword is "intent".

So the premade admitted that he was trolling? Or how do you know they were fully aware? They had to mention it then, right? So just report and use that as added evidence to get him punished. Anyways, the line is in the intent. Thats why the perception that trolls and inters dont get punished exists. Because its harder to confirm than flaming, which is very obvious and self evident. Feeding isnt against the rules, so the line is in the phrase itself. INTENTIONAL feeding.. aka "inting".

I personally just don't tilt over trolls anymore. I've been playing this game since 2014, and over 8 different accounts, I've seen hundred maybe thousands of trolls. At the end of the day, it is one match. Just hope the next one will be better and don't type in chat, learned that the hard way when my first acc got banned for snapping on an inting malphite in preseason 7 after multiple chat bans for similar reasons.

So you were premade with him as well? I don't get it. If you were already talking to the premades in VC why type about it? If you criticised him in /all yeah it's considered reportable because the intent of your chat was neither to discuss tactics nor helping him in any way.
