Permanently Banned for Something I Did Not Take Part In
I'll provide a TL;DR ahead of time, since this will be a long post, I suppose.
I went through a long struggle of alcoholism after my mother passed. I'm not ashamed to admit that. In fact, I'm proud of it because I, with the help of my family and church, was able to attend an extensive in-house rehab center for approximately a year. During this time, I had my nephew taking care of my expenses and accounts. Unfortunately for me, my nephew decided to show his true colours during this time frame and used this information to hack several of my accounts that were both for business and pleasure. I recently got out of rehab and am fully recovered and decided to take my place back on the Rift and came to find much to my dismay that this was another thing that he ruined for me. Enclosed I will paste the contact that I had with Riot Support. I come here to see if any other members or Rioters can help me with my claim, as Riot has admit that they know that it was not me on my account but does not see fit to help.
Hello, I'm Khaeto. I hope you guys are having a wonderful day over there at Riot Gaming! The weather is starting to break here in NY and I couldn't be happier to be enjoying the life I have here now, though one day I aspire to be able to join your team as I have an affinity for the game and it's design. I've played just about all MOBAs and MMORPGs and there's just something about League of Legends that I've found that distracts me from the world and the intricacy of it's coding and design is simply astounding to me.
To business though. I'm having a little bit of confusion in regards to my account. I'll give you some backstory. Approximately one year ago I voluntarily entered into a rehabilitation program, I was having a lot of difficulty drinking after cancer took my mother away from me. Like everyone says, I claimed that I could stop at any time I wanted but when put to the test, I found that I could not. I didn't want to hurt my family any more than the passing of my mother already had. Luckily, I was blessed enough to have a family and church that supported me and helped pay for an extensive one year in-house rehabilitation program for my problem. I'm proud to say, having gotten out just a short time ago that I am completely clean and I'm able to be the support figure that my family needs right now. Their Leona you could say(Please don't hate me for that horrible pun).
While I was away I left all of my affairs to my nephew. Paying the bills, expenses, rent, etc. in exchange for him taking care of all of that, he was entitled to certain privileges from me. I.e. Funds, living in my home while I was gone, etc. Dismayed I was to realize when I got out that my home was nearly destroyed, my bank account in the red, a pending eviction notice, and pretty much every all of my belongings sold or demolished. This broke my heart putting my trust into him. I should have known better to trust him with so much responsibility at such a young age, as he is. But hindsight is 20-20, I suppose, is it not?
But that leads me to my main point in messaging you. While I was away, I had left him a notebook with all the emails, logins, and passwords to my accounts for everything, as he was meant to be taking care of my financial and social well-being for me. Recently, I had attempted to log into my account of League of Legends to see what had changed on the Rift in my absence, extremely excited. I was, unfortunately, met with a ban. Obviously, I had not left my nephew with a line in the notebook explicitly stating my League of Legends login information, however nigh on all of my logins for accounts are the same, as to avoid confusion, so it's not very difficult to figure out. I confronted my nephew on whether he had been using my account in my absence and he denied it vehemently, although I know as fact that he had been playing other games such as Smite and World of Warcraft with my information while I was away, so I have little to no doubt that he is simply covering for his shame in what he has done. His other actions during my absence show what his true character is, so I have no reason to trust his word. There are multiple other accounts for forums, games, and billing that sent me notifications via email regarding suspicious behaviour due to him and were put on hold that I am still attempting to fix.
In short, my hope is that you suspended this account in realization that there was suspicious activity on my account and that you were awaiting my triumphant and sober return from rehabilitation. A "hack" suspension, if you want to call disrespectfully deceitful family "hackers". The company Steam did the same in my absence and after a phonecall with their support team I was able to explain the situation and clear everything up and return to my account. And if so I want to thank you for your system working in my favour to stop the malignant behaviour of my nephew. Looking forward to hear back from you, my(hopefully one day) fellow Rioters.
Soberly Yours, Khaeto.
This is the response that I received from their support team.
Hey Summoner,
I am Jenny711, Player Support Specialist, and I will be handling your ticket today.
I understand your nephew had your login information. I understand you were away with your own personal matters. And I want to congratulate you on going through rehab to work on yourself. That being said, you are ultimately responsible for anything that happens on the account. I'm sorry to say but due to the negativity displayed we won't be unbanning this account for any reason.
Your account was permanently banned after being escalated through multiple levels of punishment due to your continued negativity. It was not just a few games but through multiple games that the account showed levels of extreme toxicity. I'm sorry to say but you are responsible for the security of the account. I understand it was your nephew but the account will remain permanently banned.
You are free to make a new account should you decide to do but our stance on this decision is final.
The decision to permanently ban the account is final and will not be changed. I am sorry if my response is not what you were hoping to hear, but we took this action to maintain a positive game environment.
If you have any other questions or concerns, let me know.

How is it that a company can admit that you were right for doing what you did, in getting the help you were strong enough to admit that you needed but punish actions that happened outside of your control during your time away? I'm not angry, I don't condone anger in any form or fashion. Being angry is akin to drinking poison and expecting your foe to die. But I'm very upset with the goings-on here. A company that I looked up to and hoped to join their team one day is unwilling to help me when they know that I was not to blame for this action. They even want me to continue playing their game, as they know I'm not a toxic member of the community. I refuse to believe this is just a ploy for them to gain more money from me, that's not the company I've grown to love. Riot has always shown a respect towards their community, at least more than most companies I've dealt with in the past.
I would honestly even be fine with a permanent chatban(10000 game chatban if permanent is not something possible for them), since in-game chat is not something that I, myself, use very often. I much prefer voicechat and smartpings, typing is the best way to get yourself killed. I play on a team and they were all very excited for me to join them again.
Appreciate any help I can get, Khaeto.
