Before judging, please note that I was playng in a party of 4 friends. So only 1 player in my team was a stranger. If you look at the chat log, I've never directly offended them in any way or even mentioning them. My friends I was playing with are RogueX37, leoj0023, and MrCaptainBeard. The random player we got matched up with was LethaWeapon0312. Rogue was playing as zed, and we were pretending to hate and spread toxicity to eachother to make fun of the real toxic players who play specific champions. aka the stereotypes "Yasuo mains / Riven Mains" I have to admit I've been semi-toxic before from defending players or just joking around. But having this specific game's chatlog is really triggering because this was the one game where I was genuinely joking around with friends, which was 4/5 people of the team. Also I noticed my teamwork and all the other honors resetted back to 0, when I had over 100 teamwork honors....I find this very unfair, and wondering if I can earn the exact amount back if i "develop a positvie sport-manlike pattern" which I've already been.

If there is a random player on your team, then you do need to be considerate of them. There's no way for them to know if you are simply joking with your friends unless you tell them, but even they still might not appreciate language and behavior like this, and they do have every right to report you for it.

If you want to talk like this to your friends and they are okay with it, that's fine, but if there's even just one random person on your team, then you should keep that kind of talk in a voice chat like Skype or Discord.

If you want to only talk to friends, and there are strangers in the league chat that would also hear, instead use something like skype, discord, or some other chat.

I doubt the stranger appreciated that chat in their game.

ig so, question, do i have to start over from 0 for my honors(teamwork, firendly, etc) or do I earn them all back when I "develop a sportmanlike manner"

Yes, they're gone. You have to earn them back up, you won't get your previous ones back.

The problem here is that while you could've been pretending, to pubbers, it really looked like you were toxic. That one guy saw your post, thought you were harassing someone else and reported you for it.

aha I actually was though. The zed I mentioned in the chat frequently was actually the one who started the joke-toxic-talking in a previous game.

Unacceptable is unacceptable in a public environment.

A team of 5 man premade friends is probably allowed, but doesn't stop your friends from reporting you in what they don't like what you say.

I agree that we should all be civilized in a public environment (which is .01% of the time in league games like lets be real here, there's rarely any chilled league players) But my "friends" aren't the type of people who would report me because they're actually "friends"

From what i've heard, the chatlog they send you isn't always _the _ chatlog that got you suspended, so maybe you were punished for something else but they sent you this example?

I kinda doubt any more games were necessary besides this one. Ignoring the context OP gave, this is a clear quick punishment chat that the automated system would jump on immediately.

Oh, I agree with that, but OP also said they had been toxic in the past so it could have just caught up to them. But yeah, I know for a fact if I was the one random in this game, and all 4 players were talking like this, I would have been quite uncomfortable.

Tbh, Riot use to have a SPAM button. To me if I was trying to focus on the game and some joker thinks hes being funny spamming chat, forces me to mute you when we should be focused on the game and communicating

It might have been a good idea to mention at some point during the game to the random that the guys you were joke-toxic-talking with were friends and that it wasn's serious. Otherwise, they have no way of knowing.

Have you had a chat restriction before, or was this the first punishment for you? Some of the things you said, while joking between friends, are actually the sort of thing that can be punished fairly harshly. Specifically, calling people gay in an insulting manner is considered hate-speech and is a permabannable offense.

I don't think "being fake toxic" is a legitimate execuse. If you are a 4 man pre-made like he claims, more than likely you are in voice chat. If not, then that level of typing shouldn't be tolerated

That one player didn't know. He thought you were being toxic for no reason and reported you. If you want to talk to your friends I recommend using things like Skype, Curse, Discord or TS3 to talk to them.

I've had a player loving this word before which I reported. You obviously had previous offenses. The guy was prolly 'defending' ur friends just like you stated yourself you defend other people. It's still against the rules because it's not kindergarden to check who started it. It's bad and it spreads. Even cursing, jokingly, can create a tense environment for the people around you, even if not aimed at them. Evil spreads faster than good.

The player-triggered thing was the one that caused this suspension. The random player never "defended" my friends and he was chill. The game itself already creates a tense environment which already makes players impossible to not frustrated. Even is they do keep it to themselves, other players will trigger them because their also mad about one thing. Toxicity is inevitable, and Riot shouldn't really be restricting it too much. Players who've been suspended will be too afraid to even talk in chat which leads to the lack of communication other than pings. Pings can't plan strategies you know.

No, it got downvoted because he's trying to pass off his toxicty as just "banter with some friends", even though they weren't in a full 5-man premade together. Lyte actually talked about this when he talked about vgdunkey's ban back when he still worked for Riot:

It's really unfortunate. Many Rioters love Dunkey's content, and I've unloaded my share of "Not even close babyyyyy" jokes around the office; however, we really can't show favoritism to someone just because they are a pro or a known content creator. This isn't really a debate about whether trashtalking is OK or not OK in games; we've talked a lot in the past about how we're OK with players bantering with their friends but you should be careful when interacting with strangers who may not understand your intentions--especially if you're using hate speech or slurs. We have a zero tolerance policy against hate speech, racism, homophobia, and sexism and that policy stands whether you're a random player, a pro player, or a Youtube celebrity.

This also really wasn't a case about intentional feeders and whether it's OK to be toxic towards other toxic players--there wasn't even a Malphite in the game that got him banned and either way, retaliation just isn't OK because it makes the experience worse for everyone else in the game.

We know that players have been asking us to be more aggressive against intentional feeders for awhile, and it has taken us a bit longer than we'd like. We do consider gameplay toxicity just as serious as verbal toxicity, and are launching a new Intentional Feeder Detection system in 5.18 that can ban feeders within 15 minutes of matches. We're starting with conservative settings to make sure the system would not ban players for having the rare bad game, even if it was a 0-10 type of bad game but this is a great first step to aggressively tackling intentional feeders.

At the end of the day, this incident sucks for everyone. We respect that Dunkey hasn't posted his Reform Card, and I'm not going to post it either. Best wishes to him in the future.

I fail to see how this makes him an idiot just because Riot considers both kinds of toxicity equally bad. If you consider one worse than the other then that's fine, but it doesn't change the fact that both get punished since they're both detrimental to the game environment as a whole, and that's not gonna change just because Lyte is gone.

The latter is far, far, far worse. Because there's nothing you can do about it. There's no one button solution - your match and fun is just ruined.

I do agree that gameplay trolling is just as bad if not worse than verbal abuse is. However, that doesn't change the fact that both are detrimental to the game as with verbal abuse, the harasser is spending more time typing up a bunch of insults than they are actually playing the game while the gameplay troll is spending more time trying to ruin the game for everyone else than properly play the game.

Again, just because Riot considers both equally bad does not make Lyte an idiot. Disagreeing with it is one thing, but outright calling someone an idiot just because you disagree with them is another thing entirely.

Lead by example, pretending to a be a "toxic" is still being toxic. While the majority of other's with you accept it and are okay, not everyone agrees or accepts this behavior. The most important is RIOT.

It's the same a being a fake racist, it's funny and you don't mean it, but somewhere someone MAY be offended by this behavior.

To avoid to lawsuit, RIOT has made it their business to punish those that inhibit this behavior, regardless of real or fake.

Lead by example, don't be a jerk, cause even if your kidding or joking, other's may attempt to mirror your behavior.

and based on your chat logs, thats not the only thing you were banned for.

Reform, learn from your mistakes if you are planning to continue to play.
