100% Unjust ban

So recently I played a game and was banned right after for "inflammatory and/or offensive language". I want to know in what universe is this considered flaming? I'm just trying to improve, meanwhile I'm getting flamed all game by my team and even the enemy team being called a "%%%%%%" and "retard" (surprisingly wasn't called autistic). I get that there's a system that looks for specific words that may lead to a ban. I follow the summoner's code and do not flame even when I'm frustrated at either myself or my team. Why am I getting banned for just not being good at the game. I know I'm not that great but I play to try and improve, how can I do so if I'm being punished for simply typing in chat.

This was the only chat log they sent me and the only game I had anyone openly say to report me. Someone please bring some attention to this. Thank you.

UPDATE: No way I'm getting an account retrieval, I'll just have to wait the 14 days. :/ guess i'll be more careful next time.. Thanks to everyone who agreed with my case and supported me, hopefully the toxic teammates I had to deal with suffered a worse consequence.

Based on said screenshots in a later comment (due please edit into the main post), I am inclined to believe you.

However, this also leads me to ask if you skipped 100% of all punishment tiers. While I'd say this punishment cannot be justified, if others exist than I'd give my advice. Currently, I don't wish to look like a fool.

open a support ticket. I don't think you should be banned for repeating what another person was saying. I hope they got banned.

I hope so too, I reported them but I'm not sure if they got banned. If they did I didn't get the message you get when someone gets penalized. That or I was banned first before they were and therefore I didn't see it.

You didn't post your chatlogs. You should post them so we can review and might be able to explain your ban and discuss whether its worthy of a punishment.

This is a bit unfortunate. Riot has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on hate speech, regardless of context...and you repeated a very offensive word. I'd suggest sending in a Support Ticket as, if this IS your only serious breach of community rules, they may be polite, given that the context isn't directed at another player.

Oh..

Wow really? I thought the point of banning people for toxicity is to remove the overwhelming amount of flaming that happens in the game... It's pretty apparent that I didn't flame anyone and was simply trying to explain to the enemy team that I was getting harassed.

While true, you also had a choice to simply say "he's calling me the n word," as you did previously. You didn't need to type the entire offending word out.

I do think some lenience is appropriate here, which is why I recommend contacting Player Support. If your account is in good standing otherwise they may, again, be merciful.

i think 14-day bans are considered lenient these days. usually its instant permanent ban

Racist remarks are often banned. This reduces toxicity. The computer saw that word and it saw toxicity, since there is no reason to use that word even when trying to explain to the enemy team...... In which they can not see the chat so how are they supposed to know if they are actually saying that word or not?

Explain that to riot, that your use of hate speech was to inform the enemy that you were being harassed with such notions. This may help.

By riot, I mean the support ticket you should open. It takes time, they are people 2 Request they review the material again, as you were simply restating what was being stated to you

Honestly, it won't help, they don't care and won't look at the chat logs from both sides, they will only look at it from the one side and if your guilty by the one sided view then your guilty.

This is 100% not true.

They will refuse to address things they have already addressed (even if addressing it means them saying they wont address it) and will repeatedly tell you that they are refusing to address it cuz its already been addressed.

You got picked up by the auto-ban system for saying the N word probably. Send in a ticket. Hopefully you'll be unbanned since there's context and it's not actually hate speech.

so aside from sending report a ticket and learning that repeating bad words is a bad idea. Here is also 1 thing you need to know:

The system works based on games reported, not number of reports recieved. There really is no point in letting the enemy team know what he is saying. As 1 report is enough to flag the system to check for toxicity. Multiple reports within the same game will have the system return the same answer and does not make people get punished faster.

Asking for reports can be used as a harassment tool and over alot of games can get you punished.

I agree that you should not have been punished for this chatlog. Seems like it just caught the n word (im not even sure if it punishes for it based on the context though).

Anyway, you should never repeat what the harasser says and never repond to toxic behaviour. The best course of action you could have taken was just muting the guy and reporting him after the game, but I do agree you should not have been punished for this game.

Looks like the part that got you banned was the use of the word "n*****". If you reported the people saying those words they will likely have something done with them as well..... But overall, this looks like it actually could be (MABEY) something the support team of Riot can help you with......

I would send in a ticket, and if you are being truthful of that is the ONLY chat log they gave and NOTHING was changed by you in those posts..... (which could be true, i just have a mind full of possabilities)..... They MIGHT be able to help you out. More than likely you will just need to wait it out...... But be respectful when sending in the ticket and they can look into it.

I have already talked to two rioters (whom also agree that I should not've been banned) in a live chat but they weren't in the player behavior department. The image you see there is 100% un-doctored and I am being 100% honest with all of you. I hope something can be done to my account cause I know after the account is unbanned I won't even have access to hextech rewards and might even have a chat restriction...

I hope I can get this resolved and if not I guess I can count myself lucky it's not a perma ban... Sigh, sucks following the rules and still being punished

Well..... You did say the word, and you probably knew you shouldnt have lol, so TECHNICALLY you broke the rules. You just were not directing it at anyone or anything..... But yeah it does suck, but now you know you just shouldnt repeat any flame.

Also, there is no way for me to verify if you talked to rioters and had it verified that the logs are undoctored etc..... Without a lot of hassle and headache on both our parts so i will just leave it as i am not the one who you should explain it to, its Riot support if they ask.

Most rioters I talk to do not agree with alot of the help desk choices, but there is no way to complain about it or do anything about it, they won't connect you to a manager or anyone higher up, there is no complaints either since they complaints just go directly to them and they don't address them.

They'll tell you to go here, to the boards lol.

You get judged by YOUR behavior, not anyone else. The correct reaction to being flamed is to ignore it, because why should you care? Nobody else wants to see a dickwaving shitflinging contest between two annoying kids, regardless of how justified they both feel.

If you are not able to ignore it, this is why there is an amazing feature that helps you ignore people, which you can activate by typing /mute @ChampName

Maybe, just maybe you should look at the logs I posted. And true, correct reaction to being flamed is ignore it but I find it insane that I can't be cut any slack for simply trying to defend myself. Guess I'll just be a passive aggressive wetblanket from now on ;)

Yeah I think it's just cuz you repeated the magic word. You should get some leniency.

I will say though, if you're getting flamed, it's not a good idea to announce it to everyone in the game and call that person toxic. That's not the point of reporting. It's not to get everyone to focus on you as the victim. The focus should just be playing the game, but you used to chat to focus on things being said in chat. If you report the person flaming you, thats all you need... theres no real benefit of announcing to everyone that youre getting flamed and saying someone else is toxic. You should have just kept playing, say what you were trying to do if you feel necessary (pertaining to why you got flamed), and report after game.

Theres your problem right there.

You attempted team communication.

Riot hates it when people use team communication and they will punish you for doing it.

... They'll also punish you for not doing it...

Their stance is actually a oxymoron on this subject.

Since the only way to correct in game actions is team communication.... but practically anything you communicate can be taken as reportable.

In fact, you just simply saying your going to report someone is punishable in itself. I know I was shocked too when they told me.

So prettymuch, ritos plan is they know their servers are super toxic, so instead of attempting to fix something they cant fix (in game player actions) they are instead doing damage control. This means making people like you stfu about their toxic servers or the toxic players in it, since if nobody is alowed to talk about it, there isn't a problem.. right?

I keep trying to get help desk to address this but they keep talking about some chat restriction from 4 months ago when I'm actually trying to talk to them about the oxymorons in their system and how nothing has changed in their system aside of harsher punishments since season 1 (I know I've been playing that long)

This company has zero interest in reform or advancing this community past it either.

You open help requests they will straight up denie you a manager, or tell you they don't have one and are all equals part of a team... its like they have zero accountability for not doing their job properly, if a toxic person goes back into the system, its no big to their paycheck or their job, they could care less....

Welcome to the meat-grinder, where nobody cares and the more you complain or point out the issues, the more you'll be grinded and treated like your the problem.

The way riot bans is based on bots in logs. I was perm banned and have received several chat ban for less then toxic chat. Most of the time its quoting or using the same language as a another player. Really it just comes down to who many reports you get. If u receive enough in 1 game it doesn't matter what you said you get banned. Thats riot and the bs they try to pull. This comment will most likely get taken down but thats the ugly truth. No use in fighting a botted system. item 3348
