Why I am uninstalling this game after 3 years

Dear Riot,

I have had enough.

Your community is horrifyingly toxic, and I cannot play this game anymore. I understand you cannot catch everyone, yet this is ridiculous. I am not a great player, sometimes I have bad games. Every time I do though, I seem to have 1-3 people describing how I have cost them the game because:

A) I have been ganked/ turret doved, or just out played in lane with 0 help from anyone. Yet it is still somehow my fault I die, despite my best efforts to prevent that very thing from happening.

B) I lose lane and dying a few times because I got out-right stomped on.

C) I do well in a game ( which can apparently happen), and its still my fault we lose because I can't carry 4 other players.

I cannot continue to play this game if I am constantly stressing out about having to perform at peak capacity every game Ioad into. It puts too much stress into a game that I only want to have fun in, or grind a few level to try and make it a little higher in ranked play. The only time I can ever have fun in this game is with other people that I know personally, and they cannot be on everytime I play. If I have to suffer threw insults, ridicules, name-calling, etc in order to play your game, then I am NOT playing any longer. Perhaps when the community decides to change its attitude towards this, then maybe your game will be slightly less annoying to play. Maybe completely removing player's ability to type to one another might help prevent a lot of the game's problems with "toxic" players. Just get rid of it.

Good.

Don't come back.

Your butt hurt whining is exactly what nobody wants in ranked. If you're playing ranked, you're there to win and if you can't take it when your mistakes are pointed out, if you aren't mentally strong enough to deal with other people calling you bad then gtfo and stay out.

Welcome to the internet where shit isn't all about you.

The overall response to the O.P. pretty much justifies his statement regarding the community.

Way to prove OP's point community! Good job.

Even back when I started playing in mid 2011, League had a growing reputation for toxicity, but at least it also had the Tribunal system which was fairly innovative at the time. Being judged by a group of your peers was far better than an automated system. I have personally never been warned, chat restricted or banned for toxicity but I have seen plenty of people that act inappropriately (breaking the "Summoner's Code") and are only punished if they hit a few of those trigger words in the new automated system.

I played Wow from 2007-2013, while I had a few exciting moments, including a death threat which was pretty funny, I can say that the community there was not nearly as bad as this one.

Any FPS game I ever played, even going back to the 90s with UnrealTournament, UT2k4, TF2, CoD, et al, had their fair share of assholes, but not nearly in number or percentage as the League community. I've never seen a more toxic environment in any online game. Mind you, that's my personal experience, but I have a solid 20 years of online gaming to use as a barometer.

Dear Riot,

Your community is horrifyingly toxic

Have you ever played ANY fps online? how about an arena game or MMORPG like WoW? or how about any other MOBA ? especially one that has VOIP. THEN you'll experience what real toxicity is.

LoL has one of the least toxic communities I've ever seen.

Instead of quitting something you have been playing for 3 years, what you can do is figure out how to avoid toxicity on a personal level. The mute buttons aren't there for shits and giggles, they are there for just that purpose, distancing yourself from toxic players. Ranting on a forum saying "I'm quitting rito!" isnt going to do anything.

And the fact you people keep coming to the boards to announce your departure is just a cry for attention...theres already tools in place to deal with toxicity...you coming here to tell everyone you're leaving is not helping in the slightest

I dont think i ever stated "Mute everyone. every game". In each match i play the first time someone says something toxic i mute them, leaving the non toxic people un-muted. And there are other methods of communication other then chat, when you mute someone you can still communicate via pings. Toxic people feed on the reaction of the people they are BMing, so if you mute and dont feed the trolls its k. You dont get mad cause you dont hear them and they dont get the satisfaction of seeing you react. Not that hard.
