Some explanation is required

Hi I'm brand new to league, I've played Dota and Newarth but something unique to this community has me confused. How is smurfing not cheating? And for that matter what IS cheating because the way I was educated Cheating by definition is using any duplicitous tactic that gives you and unfair advantage and I'd say smurfing fits the bill. Now not all smurfs are cheating, some people are leveling new accounts they play new champs, throttle their skill level, actively refuse to carry that sort of thing. But and I'm being 100% honest, my games in normal blind, normal draft, ect do not feel as though they are the outcome of my or my team's play they feel as though they are the outcome of a coin flip. Are you with or against the blatantly better players I mean the 22-0 carrying kind of players who chastise others and make the game just unfun to finish. The kind of smurfs that make you want to ff15 just to be free of them. I've told a few of them that I was going to report them for cheating and they said they weren't cheating which can't be true, leveraging advanced skill and experience against newer players has to be cheating because if it isn't then riot condones this type of behavior and doesn't care if terrible aggressive smurfs are ruining their new player experience which by recent posts they were very concerned with fixing.

So in the commens below can someone please clarify what CHEATING is and whether blatant smurfing is or isn't?

(Ps I realize you can't stop all smurfs from occurring that's impossible but you can react when they're discovered which puts the onus on the smurf to not play like they are Rank X or Y and like they are a new player at the very least be sporting about it and not make the game agony)

You're matched with players around the same hidden MMR as you, which may be different from their apparent rank in the ranked ladder. A player who is smurfing will not be a a different MMR than their main, even if their rank is different.

smurfing is unfair but these clowns here on the boards will flame you to hell and back for speaking ill of their treasured smurfing. And apparently if your aren’t masters tier your opinion doesn’t count, is invalid, and you are garbage trash not worth even giving a moments notice to. I call them keyboard warriors, because they roar like lions on the internet, but quiet as a mouse in the streets... I am very against smurfing and think it should be against the rules, but people here post their games of pubstomping proudly and wear it like a badge of honor like it was some great feat, and then flame you for calling them out on it. End rant, lmfao.

On the grounds that you have provided, it is not cheating because following the definition that you chose it is not unfair as the participants are playing under the same game rules and it not duplicitous, because duplicity being used to make the game be played under different rules. You then argue from something unrelated to what's been provided and argue that them playing better in a competitive PvP game is cheating.

If you play Scrabble and win because you're better at it, are you cheating? If I have better vocabulary than my opponent am I cheating? The guy who is better at Scrabble than me because he actually plays it is not cheating, the other guy who takes extra tiles is the who is cheating. I understand how being matched against someone who is allegedly smurfing, playing on a new account and getting put in your games can be frustrating but you can't just call it cheating and declare that Riot condones or doesn't care about whatever you want them to because you don't like something.

After all, are you cheating because you have experience with other MOBA games while other new players do not have that?

most smurf dont want to be low level. some just want to play with their friends at are lower level or rank to make it a bit easier to play with. but yes there are those that want to "pub stomp". some think it takes the stress away from playing on their own rank for so long.
