Getting punished by RIOT for dodging a game where harassment starts in the champion select

Hey there,

I don't usually call names, but as I wanted to write a ticket and I got redirected here: 18:40, champion select, some members of "LVV" called me a pig for no reason at all except they were failing to communicate which lanes they're taking (one called "supp", suddenly he/she was adc) and I asked which lane I shall take then. I dodged and your wonderful idea of punishing players who dodge games backfired.

We need some kind of new reporting system, especially when ...

  • ... players start harassing in the champ select screen or act otherwise against the team even before the match begins
  • ... the connection fails after the game and you still want to report them
  • ... you forgot to report them (that there is a possibility to still report them after you accidentally close the game summary screen)

It would also be neat to be able to dodge games without punishment when there are players who are seemingly failing to work in a team while still in champion select. This happens far too often and players can't act against it. They just get punished for dodging while the wrongdoers will join the next match instantly.

Kind regards Karv

See the only problem i have with this is the short amount of time we actually stay in champ select. Not only that but i think you and i both know if we got a free dodge just by claiming someone was toxic in chat everyone who doesnt like the current match up, or didnt get their preferred/primary role will just use that as an excuse to dodge. Dont deny it because already dodge because of that, and basically giving them a free pass will make them abuse it even more.

Dont get me wrong we do need something done about this, But i just dont see this being the right way around it!

I wish they would track dodging like other punishments instead of just resetting daily. So then you could treat people who dodge occasional problems differently than the guy who dodges all the time.

That said, right now it is just the cost of doing business. There is no way to identify them as a problem in real time so the only other option would be to have no dodge penalties. They have tried reducing dodge penalties before and it was a nightmare. It took forever to get a game to actually start. There has to be something to make people consider not dodging. Even if that means minor punishments for dodging significant problems in champ select. Just look at it like cost benifit. A few minutes wait to avoid a miserable game is easily worth it.
