Just got banned for 14 days because of verbal abuse. First time I got banned for verbal in 4 years of playing this game (I admit I had my fair share of chat restrict xD)... Sometimes my language is not that nice, but man... look at this:

Sooo saying that someone did something "dumb" and tell him he is "bronze" is bannable (I said those things as a reply to his trash-talk) Things to keep in mind:

  1. That lee started to flame me from the first minute because I was playing tristana mid... And this continued the whole game (you know, the classic cancer wishing and other stuffs)
  2. He played indeed very poorly and the whole team (and even the enemy team) agreed with me (went to do random solo attempts to steal the enemy jungle and died multiple times, had very bad mechanics and poor map awarness... proof: he finished 1-9 in a 25 minute game) I know the circumstances doesn't really matter. Verbal abuse is verbal abuse, but I am human and I couldn't be any nicer with that kind of player in my team. Maybe he had a bad game. That's ok. We all have bad games and I have no problem with that. But he trash-talked the whole game and I am the one who get the ban. I know this is a cry post, but it just seems unfair... Now I know my lesson: mute the toxic players because otherwise I will be the one to get the ban.

ya .. its not about whether the chat is "so horrendous", its more about "is this chat punishable", and the answer is "yes".

So you'll work yourself up the punishment tiers every time you get punished.

  1. 10 game chat restrict
  2. 25 game chat restrict
  3. 14-day
  4. permaban

So your next punishment is a permaban, and even a little bit of toxicity will get you permaed.

Don't say you weren't warned.

Really valuable information. Will I "step down" from this ladder if I will fix my behaviour? I mean, I don't want to get permabanned because I will flame in a random game one year from now if I will be an angel for one year straight.

3 months to drop a tier (must play some games on it, it won't decay if you just let it be). So you need 9 months to have a clean account.

Don't have to be positive. Neutral is good enough.

Best advice is to mute people and not chat. You can't get in trouble for saying something if you don't say anything. There have been a couple posts where people said that if they only ping and don't chat their games went better. Worth a shot.

Also don't ask people to report others in chat that is also bannable. They only need one report so if you report them it's covered.

Well, at least you learned in the end? In my opinion the ban was justified. Rather he's toxic or not doesn't give you an excuse to be. It seems as though you were intentionally tilting him the entire game. When someone flames for playing off META you just ignore them and prove them wrong so they shut their mouth.

It seems you know you were in the wrong and accept your ban, though you feel the lee should have banned as well. You have to take into consideration that lee was tilted and missing his abilities because of the things you were saying. regardless of what lee was saying to you it doesn't excuse toxicity. We're all guilty occasionally but where you've had chat restrictions I believe riot was justified.

Well. I ended up 6-4 in a lost game (so my off-meta pick worked to some extent). But let's be honest here... he wish me cancer, I say he made "a dumb attempt" and I get banned... it's a bit hypocritical and oversensitive to be honest...

Regardless you gave him exactly what he wanted-a negative reaction. If he keeps up that poor behavior then eventually he will be banned as well. If you don't give them what they want then they can't take you down with them. From Understanding the Tribunal:

4) That player in my game was far worse than me. Why am I banned??? a) I'll keep this one simple: retaliation isn't OK. Reacting to a toxic player by being toxic just incites that player to be even worse--it also ruins the game for up to 8 other players. It is far, far worse to watch two people yelling at each other all game than it is to watch 1 player ranting into blank space. Almost everyone in the game can find someone out there that behaves worse than they do--but so what? Finding someone worse doesn't justify your behavior or justify retaliation. We expect more out of our players. What players often don't realize is... those other players in your game that you thought were worse? Nearly 100% of the time, those players were banned even before you were. If someone is being toxic, just report them and move on. If you retaliate, both of you will be banned. It's really that simple.

You harassed and ridiculed your own teammate. There's no excuse for that.

And don't act like this is a normal human thing to do. If this guy was on your basketball team, or part of your project team at work or school, you wouldn't have taken it upon yourself to show make their life hell and show the world their mistakes. You did what you did because you were anonymous over the internet.

I said I wouldn't care about his skill level if he didn't harass me in the first place. :) And, well, in real life, I point out someone's mistake when it's needed. But the guys I hang up with are not dumb and realize when they do a mistake. They doesn't make stupid things and blame me, wishing me cancer.
