Players going AFK ruins the change to climb in ranked

Last month I changed from EUNE to EUW. Therefore I had to start my Ranked all over. No problem I was low bronze this season so that didn't matter. But now I'm getting tired. The last 4 games I played a player went AFK early or halfway the game. Other plyers keep playing as if its an unranked of AI game. Furthermore I see players "testing" new champs in ranked, openly saying this is the first time they play this champ. I wish RIOT could build in a mechanism that only champs could be used that have been played a certain amount of times with good result in ranked.

I have had 2 messages from RIOT about players being banned for their behaviour, but that still doesn't give me my points back.

surprisingly, ranting about it on the boards doesn't do that either. and looking at your match history, i'd say the problem with losing lp is as much your fault as it is theirs

I've always found it laughable that my personal MMR and rank is based off a team winning in a game where even 1 AFK can unbalance the match.

I hate to be that guy that is always saying "if I my team didn't suck" but I've got plenty of losses under my belt where there was nothing we could do because someone afk'd in the first 5 minutes..

I think in this case.. at the least the losing team shouldn't suffer any LP lose if not just out right making it a Loss Prevented and neither awarding or losing LP... I can see how they don't want to do this because people would get pissed..

But in all reality.. if you win a 5v4 in ranked.. you really don't deserve that lp, and the losing team doesn't deserve to lose any..

I can't count the number of times I've jumped from say Bronze 4 to Bronze 5, because the last game, the one that really mattered..was the one where someone went AFK.

OKAY let me tell you why AFKs don't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Your team has (5) people. One of those is you. If you never AFK, ever, your team will have (4) possible AFKS.

Meanwhile, enemy team will always have (5) possible AFKs.

If you never AFK, statistically the enemy team will always have more AFKs than you.
