If you want to have a serious discussion about this alright let's have one. First I do agree with you, to a point but I really disagree with the argument and the link you bring up.
Let's start with the link you posted in the original post. It's just a rant from a random person, which is fine, but even the argumentation in that post is weak at best. The original link just talks all about one example that you can see here for those of you who want to read it. This article does a good job of explaining why these millennials need to have some thicker skin. The problem with the link you posted is that it takes that one example and stretches it way too thin. The OP of the link you posted goes from, college students having nervous breakdowns and are less able to receive feedback because of fear of failure, to being offended by everything. To me this seems like a stretch for this type of argument. The other problem that I have with the original link is that she makes the argument that the newest generation is even worse. The problem is the author of the link is a millennial herself, she has nothing to compare it to other than her own generation. You can't say that the generation previous is better when she never experienced the older generation. If we look at something like teen pregnancy, something that older generations is worse than when they were young, is actually going down.
If you all are gonna be so sensitive and make a habit of taking everything personal over the internet, then we have a pretty crappy future
You are absolutely correct. we should not be taking things so personal, especially over the internet. But this can be really hard to do, but as a generation we should learn to do it.
In another thread you talked about people caring about how many snap chat friends they have, I'm not sure what this has to do with League but I agree it's stupid.
"I'm gonna report you! Where's the mute button? Lel it's just a job bro, chill out. Stop being so salty/butthurt. You mad bro?"
These do get really annoying. A lot of these are just really counterproductive and do nothing. I personally haven't seen a lot of these but when they do happen they tend to stick with you. It's the same with league. You don't typically have many bad games, but when you do they really stick with you.
I'm pretty sure we've all been called stupid before, just because you're on a game doesn't mean you should overreact to it
We have and this is a good example of what we should be just ignoring. The problem I have with this is, being called stupid is actually really mild, I usually get the "kill yourself you'd be doing the world a favor". That shit is not acceptable. Even outside the video game you can't say what you want without consequences, and this is where I think the argument you presented starts to fall apart.
In the US, we absolutely have the freedom of speech, but this does not mean you can say whatever you want without consequences. The obvious example of this is, you can't yell fire in a crowded theater. While calling someone stupid wouldn't usually get you into trouble, some things that have been said in chat, "kill yourself you'd be doing the world a favor" would definitely get you into trouble.
In another thread you claim that millennials want everything handed to them. I'm not sure what you are basing this on, but for argument's sake let's assume that's true. Well then you are blaming the symptom of the true problem. I'm not going to claim I know the root of the problem, but I will try to provide some answers.
First we have to look at the parents. In the original link it talks about a teacher getting e-mails from parents about their kids' grades. The kids may have asked the parents to intervene, and that would be a problem. However I think the bigger problem is the parents enabling the kids to do this. The kid can argue with the teacher all they want but that doesn't mean that the parents have to join in. If you want to talk about millennials getting everything handed to them, we have to look at who handed them everything. Spoilers it's the parents.
Another thing we should look at is in the link I provided about college students. The article claims that anxiety and depression is at an all time high due to lack of being able to smooth out emotions. I feel that a lot of these are college specific but they are concerns none the less. But we should look to the fact that college is stressful and absolutely fucking expensive. The average college student will leave with a debt of about 28,000$ source. That's an expensive investment for no guarantee of a good, well paying job, or even a job in which you would be able to pay back your loans. That would cause anxiety and a lot of pressure on anyone.
We could also look to the poor mental health care system in the US. That seems to be something that politicians want to blame for all these shootings so why is it still so poor? If we aren't able to handle ourselves when life gets rough then why aren't we being prepared for it?
