Something that happened the other day really upset.

It's gotten to the point where I can NOT play a simple fucking game of league with friends, without other strangers calling me or anyone else a %%%, a cocksucker or of the bunch, or just straight giving them hell. This has been every game. Sure you could say ignore them and move on with your life. But one game in particular stood out the most.

It's the game where a person( and someone also joined in and said it) told my girlfriend to go kill herself. Yea, that's right. You see I can move past all the names, but it is ABSOLUTELY not cool to tell someone to kill themselves. There have been cases where people actually do that. When I confronted the guy and asked why in the absolute fuck he would say that to someone he replied with "I don't care about a worthless life".

Now I should explain something of why this really really really got to me. My Girl friend has SEVERE depression. Mix in NO SELF CONFIDENCE, AND NO SELF ESTEEM. And it really really hurt her. So hearing that, made her just go into that state. For those people who think she can just ignore. People who are like that. Can't. It's hard. It WILL hit them.

....Alright. So I'm talking to him. And the vel'koz who was with us, some stranger, decided to chime in and also tell her to go kill herself. Because she was not ganking their lane.

I would like to make mention that the bot lane was a Quinn and a vel'koz. Because that "TOTALLY" works.

My SO was too busy helping my friend top lane and me. Because we were getting camped and such. And these other 2 people were just insulting us left and right.

It was near the end of the game where I chimed in and was like, what the absolute fuck is wrong with you guys? And they were like Don't care %%%got.

It was at the point where this was taking place in /all chat. Because, well it just did.

The other team was just trying to keep everything in cool. But it wasn't working.

The game ended.

After the game and that stats screen came up, I immediately reported them.

And that's where I was hurt the most. Because they were punished. But I didn't see the punishment. I wanted to know that they got what they deserved.

But knowing my luck they probably got off on a chat ban. I don't know. Maybe I am going crazy and it's just me being protective. And I know that the League community has a a lot of nice people, and I thank you guys But for the people who decide calling names, making fun of people because they are having a bad game, or straight up telling people to kill themselves.

Seriously you turn so many people who are interesting in the game away because They DON'T want to deal with your shit. I guess I just had to get this out here.... Thank you for reading.

P.S This was posted on reddit, was instantly removed, I don't know why...maybe someone here can tell me. I wasn't given a reason

Uhhh, this game should be the last game on your list to play with her bro. The community here is garbage, you should find a better game, or just mute everyone at the start. It ain't gonna get better.

Honestly, i would track their IPs to their home if they called my Girlfriends life worthless, and beat the living shit out of them.

PS:You can see if they got a game-ban if they have no more games in their match histories.

Why is it more acceptable to harass people tell them horrible things and make them feel like total shit than it is just to be a decent human and at least just dont say anything if you cant be nice?

I ask this question all the time to many different people. The problem is it's the internet (or at least that's the answer I get most of the time). People feel powerful because no one knows them, they don't have to care about the other people because they don't know them, and this makes them feel like they can say anything they want because they won't be punished. I think telling someone to go kill themselves is one of the worst things anyone can say to someone else and I am one of those people who will stand up to someone who says it no matter whether it's directed at me or someone else. The world would be such a better place if people could just be nicer to everyone else but we live in a world of selfish people who don't care about anyone else but themselves. It's such a shame and unfortunately I don't think there is anything that can be done to correct this kind of behavior. League of Legends specifically can ban and do all of that which is good but in the bigger scheme of things these people will still continue to say these things on another game or somewhere else on the internet. I will never understand those people and why they feel the need to be so mean to other people regardless of whether they know them or not.

and people say chivalry is dead! Kudos to you my good sir!

People should not name call no matter the skill level, decision, user, etc. I used to play with friends who did that and it just made my games become worse and worse. I start to feel as bad as a victim when I hear someone getting name called without being able to successfully do something about it without being called names myself.

PSA: Depression is not a joke, nor is death. A game should be an "escape from reality" and not some hell hole.

PS: Vel Koz is not even meant for the bot lane.... And Reddit is Reddit :/

As long as you report them and left a detailed message in the space provided they will get punished. We already have countless topics here of people complaining about their "I deserve bans" with all their toxic chat. So just give it time. They might not get a permaban off the bad, but at least in my opinion they deserve that.

It's sad but things like this are way too common and that's why Riot wants to change for the better. Gaming in general has that stigma of rude people especially when it's online. But that's the problem with the Internet. There is no "real" punishment for people who act like this. They'd never do it in real life because there are actual consequences for your actions in real life.

I suggest like others have said to just have the both of you mute everyone but you two, and the game will be much more enjoyable. That basically how I play now with and without friends. You don't really need to use chat since there are pings!

That's really disgusting and i'm truly sorry that your girlfriend had to hear such verbal abuse (actually, to me, this would be beyond verbal abuse- because it can lead to someone killing themselves or attempt suicide which would dawn onto their act as attempted murder or a hand in third degree murder .. so yea).

Hope their accounts get banned ... the community is already toxic enough- I don't want good people to be put through such hell because humanity can't contain their dickery. I understand the mute button is there, and it's best to ignore- but seriously it's a team game. Doing that kind of hurts you (luckily pinging makes up for it) but in Ranked? Chat or programs like Skype + Curse, ect. help out dramatically because of communication.

But then again, who'd want to play with those telling your girlfriend such rot? Hope she's well and hope for the best to come your guy's way.

Just going to point this out, but Quinn ADC and Vel'Koz support both work. Quite well if you know how to play the champions well

This stuff happens to me sometimes too, and i am like your girlfriend. i tried to explain to someone in game the other day that his words have weight to people like me and his response is i shouldnt play online games then. Why is it more acceptable to harass people tell them horrible things and make them feel like total shit than it is just to be a decent human and at least just dont say anything if you cant be nice?

I am sorry that the community hurt your girlfriends feelings. There are a few things I would to write out and help you understand.

  1. Riot remove the tribunal system which was in place to allow the community to self govern itself. It turned out to be a really bad idea because their system was very flawed and people were banning (loss of Riot revenue) people who they did not think deserved it. So Riot now has their own very very basic system which only punishes people who are so toxic that they allowing them to continue to play will be the guaranteed loss of substantial revenue by making others quit.

  2. It is highly unlikely that the people who reported and ran into had any punishment handed to them. Riot punishes quitters and people who are as toxic as above in virtually every game they play. Again you have to show a very strong pattern of just being so toxic you will send more people away by continuing to play.

  3. League of legends is a competitive PVP game. On Summoners rift we play on a team of 5v5 and it only takes 1 person doing poorly to guarantee a loss for 4 other people, or 1 person doing well and 4 people to benefit from that. A players performance in a match whether you win or loss is irrelevant to your LP punishment or rewards. Everything comes down to whether you win or lose. Nothing else is taken into account. So because of this (in my opinion very poor system) it creates the very base for toxicity because the person doing badly on your team and who could be directly responsible for your teams loss caused you to lose LP as well. Regardless of how you did. So on a team of 5 each player is individually directly responsible for a win or loss for 4 other players.

Riot talks about how it takes more than 1 person to determine the outcome of a game. In reality this is complete junk in roughly 80% of this game. Sure if you were diamond or plat, everyone on both teams would have enough mechanical skill to reduce the risk of a snowball caused by 1 player because everyone else would know what to do to compensate. In the gold, silver, bronze tiers this is not the case. A snowball can form and get out of control very quickly.

  1. Because this is a competitive game played on the internet and as others have mentioned people are protected by anonymity and the fact they will never play with you again after a match opens a window for people to say whatever they want. In Real life people think up this stuff but your frontal lobe is there as a filter to tell you it is a really bad idea. Behind the comfort of the internet you can get away with it so people do. The truth is this game is unlike any other online game you might play with your girlfriend. It is competitive. The whole point is to win and a persons individual outcome is completely dependent on the other 4 people on their team.

  2. Do not expect the community to get better. Toxic players have been in league from the beginning. If Riot has not done anything serious about it by now they never will. Riot has recently sold out to a Chinese company which only cares about share price and profits. Any system that could have been implemented to help with toxic players will never be implemented at this point because Riot will never ban a player who they can not prove to be a financial burden. Again meaning you have to be so bad that they lose even more revenue by keeping you rather than banning you.

If you understand all of this then the outcome you come to is that League is not some happy fun casual game. It is not an MMO. It is a game with 1 purpose team vs team. Sure there are other shooter games like CoD and Battlefield, the difference is win or lost at the end of those games you still get some sort of score based on your individual performance. Not in league.

If after understanding all of this you still want to play I highly suggest you /ignore all at the start of every single game. No one in your game is your friend. No one in your game wants to add you to your friend list and jump on skype and play with you in the future. There are no friends in this game. You play a game with 4 strangers for a single purpose and afterwards you split never to be seen again. If you are expecting something else or want something else then League is not the game for you. This game is harsh by its nature. 99% of the players in this game are not here to make friends. It is by leagues design of no social integration that this issue derives.

I wish you the best.

Toxic duos happen, sadly people are given the chance to improve their behavior; but instead they make friends with another toxic player.

PIMPSMOOTH1/25/2016, 7:12:47 AM1 votes

That sucks, but this would be one of the last games I'd bring her on if I were in your shoes b/c that's going to happen repeatedly.

Surr20plz1/25/2016, 9:23:51 AM1 votes

I suggest telling her to mute everyone but you at THE START of the game.

This community is all shit talking little kids. I wish we did have built in voice chat, then you could here there little pubescent girly voices cracking as they say this crap and it would suddenly seem funny instead of hurtful.
