Comfused? Toxicity and bans... Feels unfair...

So I am new to the rift than most I suppose, and I am astonished at how unfair/ biased the ban system is. I just received a 14 day ban today, and although I understand that my toxicity lead to punishment, what I don't understand is how others are able to play freely. Every game I play in (nearly) has extremely toxic players, yet I am the one to be punished for fighting back? I know I am new to league than most, but that just doesn't seem right. How is it possible that literally everyone qualifies as "toxic" yet majority of them are not punished? My question is: what are we supposed to do? Are we expected to mute everyone and trap ourselves in a box to avoid conflict? I honestly don't understand how the system can be so corrupt in such a big company. Genuinely what should I do if I wish to continue playing? I always heard of the system being unfair, but didn't agree until now...

It actually is pretty fair.

You are judged by your own actions alone.

They are judged by their actions alone.

Nothing you say will affect their punishment and vice versa.

You have full control of your keyboard, fingers and what you decide to type. So no one is really forcing you to do anything.

Riot punishes based on consistency x severity. Mild toxicity over tonnes of games will get you punished. Hate speech / homophobia speech will get you punished in a few games.

You'll get punished when you've crossed the line. They'll get punished when they cross the line. A pretty fair system tbh.

Unless your game was the one that punished them, you won't receive a punishment notification. No notification if it was building towards their case, and certainly not when they are punished down the road.

Due to how the system works right now, it made a lot of people feel like the system isn't working. Riot is aware of this problem and would probably release new features to tackle this problem space after the new client is up and running smoothly.

In regards to resolving conflict, fighting back at them would just make you just like one of them. and both will get punished.

Just mute them and focus on playing the game.
