Question about LeaveBuster

How many times do you have to leave a game to be penalized? I had to restart League during a game earlier because I was lagging at a constant 3 FPS and when I logged back on it said that I will be put in a lower queue for the next five games as a penalty. The only other time I can remember leaving in the past couple months was when Windows shut down my computer and updated when I was in the middle of a game. This has only happened twice in that span of time.

I distinctly remember a LeaveBuster update where Riot said it can differentiate between just leaving and if something beyond your control happens, like if you have a power outage, Widows update, etc. Is this correct or am I just remembering it wrong?

I'm not sure if it's a set deal, or if everyone is different. I've left a couple games (usually only to fix lag) and came back and never once had to deal with leave buster. I maybe do this once maybe 3-4 months. I'm sure if you full on leave a game and do it multiple times a day you would get hit with LeaveBuster.

It isn't a fixed number. It is basically looking at the percentage of games you leave. It can't differentiate between different kinds of leaves, instead gives everyone a little leniency for w/e issue they may have. Leaves from ranked count for more as well. Technically I think the minimum is 2 leaves for a punishment, but I don't recall ever hearing of anyone who had less than 3.
