So I just had a game where a team mate was harassing other team members and then when I asked everyone to group up he started harassing me. I mostly ignored him so he upped the ante by calling me racial slurs. I continued to appeal to the team to work together and eventually muted him. He then got other players to start racially taunting me until the game was over. Then I GET CHAT RESTRICTIONS and an email showing me what I said. I said nothing offensive to anyone and never even insulted him.

Apparently, even the reporting tools Riot provides are weapons that trolls can use against players who aren't doing anything but enduring their harassment.

So my question at this point is, why does Riot have a system in place that rewards the worst offenders?

If you think you were unjustly punished you can submit a ticket here. If you want you can post the reform card and the people on the boards can give you feedback on your chat logs. I would also ask how long your chat restriction is because that can tell us some things.

Keep in mind, just because you were punished doesn't mean that others weren't.

Well, on the one hand I find your story a bit hard to believe. A guy who is raging and harassing everyone, but somehow manages to convince them to turn against an innocent harmless stranger? I'd sure like to see this "email showing you what you said"..

Then on the other hand, I don't see why you didn't just report him, since the system is so tight that it will punish you without evidence, surely this guy, who HAS evidence against him, would get punished as well?

Engaging in a war of words with someone who's resorted to berating the OP with racial slurs is not the best solution to the problem. There won't be any communication about the game from there forward, it becomes a complete name calling shit show. More often than not, the person getting abused goes nuclear and gets themselves reported, many which result in bans.

That's why muting at the first sign of toxicity is the best option. The aggressor gets reported after the match; the person such as the OP can't be reported for anything and he's able to focus on the match and not sinking down to the level of the troll.
