it's been multiple years since i've last played and my life has been a lot better. as a result i've generally gotten over toxicity and the like, how could i prove this to support and hopefully get my account back after such a while?
If your account has been permanently banned, you will not get it back. You can still create a new account if you wish to play.
Accounts are not unbanned unless they were banned in error.
The fact of the matter is that its near possible. They cannot just take your word for it, and really how else could you show it? This is one of the reasons why they dont give back accounts to banned people. It would be hard to verify and im sure most people would just lie to get their accounts back!
The only way to show you have improved is by making a new account and keep it in a positive standing. But you shouldnt be doing it so you can get something out of it, because sadly its just not going to happen! Do it to better yourself!
