Just Got a Chat Ban

I just received a chat ban for quoting what another guy called me in a LoL game and asking other people to report him.

Is this a joke? Can't believe stuff like this exists.

Dear Riot, Before introducing a chat ban you should look at chat across ALL players, not just the one who was falsely reported. I literally just quoted what he called me, then proceeded to be polite as I have been since my first chat ban way back when I first started playing LoL. This kind of stuff is absolutely pathetic.

Actually, asking other people to spam report someone is harassment. Even if you said "Good game everyone, honors for everyone. Oh, and report Zilean" it is a punishable offense because of asking them to report for you. What you quoted was not necessary to validate the report.

You don't even need to ask others to report. 9 reports in a single match mean no more than 1 does. The match will be flagged to check their behavior with just one report; eight more won't make the system check any harder.

Now that you know this, I'm sure you realize why it does no good to ask for reports. But it also does harm. It antagonizes the player and is nothing less than bullying even if your report is valid.

Furthermore, it takes way more than one game to get punished (except in extreme cases). You would've had many games of toxic behavior that lead to this chat restriction, not just the one; reform cards merely show you your most recent contributing logs, not all of them.

Yesterday, had a 5v3 game, The entire enemy team kept saying "report LB and Lee afk". I pointed out that saying "report X and X" is reportable, and this resulted in a giant gangbang with me on tilt and getting a warning.

You could've muted them, and it sounds like they made themselves all reportable and subject to punishment. Win-win for you if you just mute and report.

As for the warning, it merely pops up when you get reported more than the average. It is based solely on number of reports per match, so mass reporting from premades or just a toxic group can easily make it pop, but it has absolutely no direct connection to punishment; if the reports are false, then nothing will happen to you. The popup is just a heads up that the reports are happening.

Probably because what I said is considered "passive-aggresive"(Apparantly passive behavior is reportable).

Its automated. No actual person looks at it. You have to think of it as dealing with a computer with parameters.......not a person with a brain lol.

Submit a support ticket. False positives are rare, but they do happen.

well, next time don't ask racist honkies for help reporting someone. I think that's against the code or something, asking other to gang report someone... but not sure.
