Heres one of the things you can get chat restricted for

I was playing as support zyra and was doing poorly. The enemy adc said he was a diamond smurf in post game chat. My adc was 0/3 I was 1/7. The ezreal and diana was harassing me and calling me names and cursing at me because I was doing poorly and said they would report me for inting. I muted the ezreal. I told my team I was having a bad game and I was trying my best. I told the diana that trash talking me doesn't help. The diana refused to stop and I saw the diana had bad matches on her history and asked her if she was inting on games she performed poorly on. She then jumped into all of the enemy team because we refused to surrender and admitted to inting in chat. To which I responded report it inting (report diana for inting) our top laner also saw her inting and asked why she did what she did. I also told her people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Meaning since she also had bad games she should not verbally harass me when I was having a bad game too.

Here is what the riot support staff said to me:

"IronSights: I do have the full chat log on that game.

I can also tell you that trying to put their match history up as a defense, is a misuse of chat.

basically responding in anyway to harassment is dangerous, and it's usually better to just mute them instead. You don't have to take their harassment, but you are on the hook for how you respond."

Don't bother suggesting I appeal this, already tried. Apparently you aren't suppose to say ANYTHING back at all and pointing out her match history in hopes she would understand and stop harassing you will get you restricted and or banned. So yeah, just letting the community know and hopefully learn from my mistake. =D

Because IFS is garbage and the pathetic current riot (they don't deserve capitalization) staff is piggybacking off of previous employees. Game has been going downhill since about season 5/6. Fanboys will defend, but anyone who's played this game for any considerable amount of time will agree that they've (riot) has gone to shit. Any first-year programmer can design an "if-then" with regards to chat vocabulary. Sad that that's the best riot can come up with.

Chat is meant to be constructive and work towards objectives. I can appreciate you trying to bring order and sense to the team in order to keep playing, but I don't know why you brought up her match history, and only her negative matches. You hand picked matches and scores to insult and harass the jungler. Further, there's no need to tell someone you're reporting them, as that just further exacerbates the situation.

I picked her negative matches to get her to understand she has bad games too. Having a bad game with a bad score does not mean you are inting. That was my point. I was trying to get her to emphathize with me and understand. We all have bad matches sometimes. I did say check my score because her and the ezreal were saying I was first timing zyra in ranked, which I was not.

I gotcha. But she may not have interpreted it that way. Either way, that sort of chat isn't helping anyone on the team. At best, she's responding about scores from previous games, and those prior games have no effect on the game you were then in. It's not easy to focus on a game when someone's talking down to you about your play, but it's at least a little easier after you hit the mutton on said player.

I am assuming you read and have access to full chat since you referred to diana as the jungler. Yes, it is not easy when people are talking to you by swearing and cursing you nonstop as the diana and ez did. She was swearing and cursing and talking down my play nonstop way before I bought her up scores. In fact by the time I bought up her score she already began inting because we didn't surrender. If you could please allow us to view a compete copy of the logs. You can sub the player usernames our with their champions.

Sometimes if you tell people you are reporting them. They stop whatever negative behavior they are doing and start playing with the team again. Especially if the person is afk and everyone threatens to report, many times I see them play again to avoid the reports.

Absolutely not. Forum moderators have no more access to game information than you do. I've read what you posted and looked at the match in match history.

"You're reported" implies "You've done something wrong," followed quickly by "Well, I should defend myself." At best, doing this is neutral, at worst, you end up with a worse situation. It's just best to report them in the post-game without mentioning this to them in game.

I don't know if the ezreal stopped harassing me after I said I was reporting and muted him. The Diana did stop diving in 4v1 after the top laner and I said we would report for inting after she said it was because we refused to surrender. But the game lasted at most 5 mins after we said that.

Regardless, I just put up this post to help the community and to understand the message from riot: which is basically "basically responding in anyway to harassment is dangerous, and it's usually better to just mute them instead"

A neutral action like that should never warrant a punishment. Is it poor taste? Maybe. Is it worth punishing the player over? No, absolutely not, especially when they're the victim here. Expecting every single player to hold their composure perfectly in a game that's meant to be fun in the first place while being harrassed is just very silly. Just because they choose not to say nothing at all doesn't mean what they do say is out of line.

I was wrong in saying he was "insulting and harassing the jungler," but bringing those matches up, combined with saying he's gonna report that player, really deteriorated what could have been much better communication with teammates.

Okay? I mean sure it could've been better, pretty sure all communication could be improved in some fashion.. Does he deserve to lose his honor for weeks and be chat restricted though?

Are we supposed to act like robots in every single game, never say anything that could be mistakenly seen as negative? I think that's going too far.

It's a game, not military training.

I think the main thing that was going too far in this game was looking up someone's match history and finding bad scores. The games may or may not be hard to find, but that's time and chat that could have been much better spent doing or saying something else. I'd be surprised if it didn't interrupt the OP's gameplay. And it didn't improve the team's communication.

I don't think you are interpreting what riot support said correctly. Riot support basically said do not respond to harassment and mute them instead. FYI riot support said he had access to the full logs and did indicate clearly I was being harassed.

Again, just to clarify I was being spammed nonstop by the diana with things like "you suck" "never play zyra again" "your a retard" etc and of similar nature for 10 minutes in until the game ended. It is wrong to assume everyone else in chat said nothing and that was why you could even make an argument that I harassed the jungler.

If no one else on the team said ANYTHING and I was the only one talking. I could see how it could be viewed in such a light. However, keep in mind all things must be interpreted in their context and game play was already interrupted when Diana fed intentionally and Diana mostly sat in base spamming insults, especially after we refused to surrender. Game play was pretty much interrupted 4v5 and teammates besides me saying they would report the Diana for inting. It seems as if you are grasping at straws for a justification.

I agree I should not have responded to the nonstop harassment and if the policy riot wants is to instant mute and not respond in any form because they will punish any response to harassment. I am fine with that. It is just I was not aware the policy was so strict and it is unfair because if you viewed the entire logs I am essentially the victim. I also thought I responded okay at the time in relation to the harassment that was thrown at me. I could have cursed back or called her names back ,or insulted her back, but instead chose to try to make her understand I was having a bad game. If that is unacceptable behavior. Going forward I will just mute.

Again, I stress that I am putting this out there so other players would have a clearer understanding of this policy and not be subjected to the same fate.

Don't they usually send you like 3 different chat logs? They might reveal more about the situation..

inb4 shills insisting that this is toxic because you said anything at all, because according to them the system isn't insanely focused on the wrong problems in ranked queue. (◔_◔)

but don't you dare suggest that chat be removed or disabled because then said shills wouldn't be able to soft-int and troll players with nice skins into getting perma'd when they want to feel powerful. you know, actual player behavior issues that are happening all the time but get completely ignored because accounts with purchases getting banned is "a good thing" and people should be allow to express themselves by taking soraka jungle if they want... but not express themselves by telling that person that they are throwing the game and wasting everyone's time.

I can back this up with my 14 day suspension, they can ban you with using only 1 word if they want to. (I was banned for using 1 word in my chat logs lol.)

In which case, I got banned for using a racial word around my goons. (5 Honor btw, no punishments on the account btw)

Basically when you play this game, just use / Mute all

And then use Discord to ignore everybody in the LoL community.

It's just way better that way. You don't have to deal with SJW's, you don't need to deal with Riots, nobody is flaming you (so 99% of the community) and nobody can report you for never listening to them now too. So, yeah, just use / Mute all.
