Can we please do SOMETHING about people banning a teammates champion?

I have been a yasuo main for over a year and have had people ban my champion when I hover at least 1 out of 5 times. People will ban him in a NORM or ranked just as frequently. I have a good winrate on him, I have had him first pick so enemy team can't pick him before me, and last pick so that I dont get countered. It doesnt matter the situation people still ban him because they dont want me to play him, NOT BECAUSE HE'S OP, NOT BECAUSE HES BAD FOR THE COMP, JUST BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT THEIR TEAMMATE PLAYING HIM. Do you really think I want to play a game with someone that banned me even if I have a backup champion? Sometimes I just want to have fun in a norm because he is the only champion that makes this game fun but no, I have to have an hour of my life ruined because some dude decided he doesnt like yasuo on his team and bans it because he feels like it.

I have been dealing with this since I started playing yasuo and would have thought that something would be done about it but it really seems like riot doesnt care. Theyre not even trying to find alternatives from the looks of it. there have been countless posts about this and riot seems to NOT CARE about this subgroup of players. I, for the simple fact that I play yasuo, am defenseless and will have countless games ruined just because of the stigma that surrounds yasuo. Enemy team will not believe me and report. My team will believe me but simply not care about it because it doesnt affect them and they forget about it shortly after. Now I have to ignore a feature of the game I enjoy and always hide my pick from my team. I shouldnt have to do this just because I play a certain champion that is hated.

and before you bring it up as an alternative, I shouldnt have to play blind pick just because of the champion that I want to play. What If I want to play ranked want the benefits of pick and ban phase.

I am not a game developer so I cannot tell you how to fix this but I KNOW that something can be done about this without just spitting in the face of yasuo players and saying "deal with it, we care more about pick intent so you have to suffer"

some suggestions that I can think of would include:

  1. the ability to communicate through chat, but not show pick intents. That way they can discuss comps beforehand.
  2. making it so that a champion fades once there is a pick intent for it (similar to how it fades once it has already been banned) this may lead to some people having too much control over bans but I find this a desirable alternative than to have someone ban a teammates champion and ruining the whole game.
  3. Making this a reportable offense. I mean, seriously, this tilts me more than someone running it down mid and leads me to want to troll the whole game. (and im not the only one)
  4. having a pick intent section that gets locked after the 10 seconds. after that, remove the ability to ban those champions.
  5. combine 1&4. Have the pick intent section lock completely after 10 seconds. after that, picks can be changed at will but bans cannot ban out those specific champions that were selected during pick intent.
  6. add the ability to hover champion category (ie Tank, bruiser, mage, etc) this probably wouldnt help yasuo but it would help the other people getting troll banned.
  7. Add the ability to report someone in champion select. have them only impact a player after a certain amount of reports that occur in champion select. that way they are more careful in how they treat their teammates. can also be used to reduce honor level

Again, I am not game developer and I these are just ideas that came to my head but I really hope riot does something about this group of players. whether it be a small group of players or not, people shouldnt have champ select problems just because of the champion that they play.

I like playing all of the champions. It doesnt bother me that I cant play yasuo. it bothers me that a teammate has the power to deny me, just because I chose to be a good teammate and hover what was my intended pick. Showing an intended pick should NOT be a detriment. Its also pretty shitty that people can and are willing to screw their teammate over in pick/ban. the person banning has all of the power. Someone could have a 90% winrate on champion they're very excited to play only to have this guy decide "I dont like your name, i feel like trolling, you didnt ban x champion even though I told you to" etc etc. and that guy not being able to do anything about it.

The simple answer here is that Ban > Pick has downsides, and Pick > Ban has downsides. Riot has weighed the advantages and disadvantages to both, and has picked their stance: Ban > Pick.

Shifting it resolves some problems and creates others, and I suspect the conclusion was that it's better to have players have to play their second favorite champion in a role than allow teammates to give picks to the enemy or play champions that are a player's least favorite champion to play with/against.

I don't think it's as much of a problem as you make it out to be. Anyone who goes into champselect, has a choice. If someone chooses to ban any champion, has a reason for it. Maybe they don't want to see that champion on either team. Maybe they got rekt by an op pick last game. Yes, it sucks that your champ was banned, but it quickly becomes a nonproblem, once you realize there are plenty of other champions available.

If you think that your game is ruined once you can't play a specific champion, it shows that it's more like a you-problem, not an everybody-else-problem. Honestly blind pick is your only option, since there are no bans there. .

The main reason why it probably wont ever be a banable offense is because of trolling potential. First off while it might not be you personally, most people who deal with others who play champions like Yasuo/Zed/Riven/Zoe/Any new champion dont like to deal with it because of their mentality of past experience. Like just having basically every single person who was on their team picked X-champion and only fed. It didnt matter to them that it might have been a bad game, or that it wasnt the same person playing. Its just because of how frequent it happen that it basically gets stuck in their mind and they just dont want to deal with it!

But as i said, it just has too much trolling potential. If it was to lock out the champion from getting ban. its basically a free pass to give it to the enemy team (assuming your team isnt first pick) this is mainly towards FotM champions and New champion. but still most people dont want to deal with it and Riot stance on it is that Ban overrules picks.

Don't show your intended pick until after ban phase. Don't argue with me, that is your best chance to get the champion you want.

Depending on the balance state of the game, some champions can become unstoppable killing mashines who win lane by default. If you wanna pick that champion, which has a pick%ban rate of like 95% and you are last pick, you are nott gonna get it. The only reason to hover such a champion in that case is to help the enemies get it.
