I was playing a league game today and someone used the n-word against me in champ select. They harassed me all game in both pings and chat using the n-word and 'neg' . I told them not to call me or anyone the n-word in chat but I still got suspended because I typed out the word. I didn't say anything else to them all game but I simply told them not to call me the n-word. Is there a way to get my account not suspended?

The thing is, people who try to address toxic players or argue back with them or what have you are often just as much a problem as the toxic players themselves. Whether they're arguing or trying to say "don't say that" or anything else - they're contributing to the negative experience the first player caused.
And, in the case of the OP: It should be common knowledge not to repeat what a toxic player says. That's only liable to get you punished as well.
The best response to someone being toxic and throwing hate speech your way is to mute, report, and move on. Don't give them the time of day, don't tell them "don't say that" - just mute them and report them.

If it's the former, I kind of doubt it - I'd imagine the majority of the community has browsed over the features in the post-game lobby a couple times over their League careers, and have consequently stumbled on the Friend/Invite/Report icons beside player screennames.
If it's the latter, though, I can understand that much. People generally come to their own conclusions about how the system works before coming to the boards, and they're seldom open to hearing how other people see how the system works - or even how Riot explains how it works.

Though, in the terms of players not knowing how the IFS works - I am kind of curious as to how they figure it works. As is the case of our current discussion, I'm curious as to why the OP repeated hate speech, and why they didn't expect a punishment from doing so.
Hypothetically, it could be chalked up to numerous things - maybe they've gotten to the "doubting" point in their experience with the IFS, where they recognize the Instant Feedback Report pop-up, but assume it's the say-all-end-all indicator of punishment.
Maybe they think "nobody'd report someone who's defending themselves" - but then fail to recognize that there is at least one person with spite enough to report them? Or, perhaps they'd be a step beyond that, and confident that, even if reported, their behavior was wholly in the right?
I could really only speculate, but cases like these will always have my interest for that reason. Hopefully such cases remain few and far between, and hopefully some day the general workings of the IFS become common knowledge, but, until then, all we can rightly do is to do our best to explain the system and try to help people where we can.

Choosing (because nobody can force you to) to harass someone has no place in this game, period. I don't care if someone has the reflexes of a five-year-old, one can prove they have the maturity of a adult by not acting like a child about it.

The only thing Evil needs to flourish is good man not doing anything. Any decent person would have understand the context behind what he meant. Saying the n-word is psychologically exhausting. Don't give it more power than it already has. We need to break the cycle to create a better world for everyone.
Baka Red1 votesThe thing is; reporting is not "not doing anything." Maybe it isn't doing enough, but it might get the person who deserves punishment actually punished. The muting part protects the person muting him from further abuse.

Depending on your behavioral history, they may revert the punishment.

Just be as open and as clear as possible, apologize, and really make sure they understand that you were just repeating it to defend yourself. No intention to flame or harass anyone, you just wanted him to stop flaming you.

Well when someone is calling you a nword, I think it's safe to assume their reasoning and caring is a bit eschew. There's a lot of factors involved... but come on... if someone on the internet is calling you a nword in a video game, I think their goal is to offend you. You're just giving them pleasure in knowing that it bothers you. You're completely right amongst reasonable people. But someone saying THAT? There's no reason. They will probably increase their offense.

Submit a support ticket. But be warned: frequently, even in cases like this, the support representative responds with a quotation of something that "players found offensive."
To be blunt, this phrase means almost anything--ranging from actually offensive content (such as the 'n'-word), to "omg their team comp... o.o" to "hey guys it's me, degenerate Malphite!".
