Why does Riot continues to allow people to abuse the report system?

This is my first post ever--not that it matters-- on this forum since I started playing this game years ago in OB.

But my question is basically the title? Why?

I just got group trolled, it ruined my experience and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Sure I want leavers and other negative elements dealt with but I get this strange feeling i's not happening.

And before anybody goes all QQ on me :)) I submit my match history for public review. Let's see if I was really worthy of the notice I received. I'm not saying I'm perfect but I'm ways away from being something that needs to get even a warning.

I don't expect much to be done in this matter or at all, but I wish I would get the chance to defend myself and not just be subjected to an automated majority ruled punishment.

Have a good day.

Because there are enough ways to make sure that abuse of the report system is more or less the same as not using the report system. First off: In one single game, one report carries the same weight as nine reports. Secondly: There is a report filter that is rather good at filtering false reports. In the end, people that frequently report falsely cease having an impact on the system as their reports are discarded right away.

However: Warnings are meant to reach as many people as possible, so those who are actually not aware that their actions have been negative become aware of it and maybe stop. That's why warnings, as opposed to punishments, are a little bit more lenient when it comes to false reports and will trigger mainly (if not only) based on the amount of reports you receive.

tl;dr: You won't get punished if you didn't do anything wrong.

Because abusing the report system does not result in any action, and if done frequently lowers the weight of the persons report.

If you aren't violating the summoner's code, then you won't be punished. You could be reported every game and "trolled" every game but if you aren't doing anything wrong then nothing happens so there is really no benefit to someone abusing the system and there is no reason to fix something that isn't broken.

You may get a pop-up notifying you that you've been reported a lot recently, but that's it. You know what you've been doing, so you know if it's valid or not. Simple.

After checking your match history, OH GOD.

1/6/6, 4/2/5, 1/5/3, 1/3/0, 0/4/0, 6/8/11, 2/11/5, 3/2/7, 3/8/6, 0/3/2 etc, with most of them being ranked games.

Maybe try practicing in normals before playing ranked. Perhaps the reason you lose all the time isn't your team, but you.

There are more than enough "Why was I banned?" posts in this section of the forums alone to prove that the report system does work. Is it abused? Oh, you bet. There isn't any feature that can be built in to a video game that won't be abused in some fashion. As an outside example, take the kick feature World of Warcraft was given during one of the past expansion. The intention of the kick feature was to remove people from groups that were being purposely disruptive. What happened? The WoW community started using it to remove people for reasons that were never intended. Someone had the same class as another person? Kick. Someone wasn't playing up to the standards another player thought they should. Kick! That person might roll on my loot. Kick! That person's gear is colored wrong. Kick! A player just felt like kicking someone. Kick! Horrible, horrible abuse. Finally, the developers had to amend the kick feature to prevent major abuse. But players STILL found ways to use the kick feature in unintended ways.

The perception is that because you don't see the people you report being punished, nothing is done. Again, there are plenty of posts daily with upset people who have had their accounts permanently banned. I'd say the report feature does work. So, if you report them, keep doing so. They'll dig their own graves.

Is it unfortunate that we have to deal with these trolls and rule breakers? Yes. But that's just humans for you. Someone always has to ruin it for everyone else.

You cant "abuse" report system. If someone feels like you broke rules, its his right to report you. Report is not punishment (hope u know that), it just can initiate investigation. They check if you really broke rules, if u know u didnt, then u dont need to worry. If u know you broke rules, then u make thread on forum complaining how someone "abuses it ".

Like others have said, you won't be punished if you didn't do anything wrong. Just be aware that there are many little micro-aggressions that are considered negative in the community that you can be punished for. It's safest to just not use the chat and communicate with pings instead. While you may not swear at people and chew them out, you might be passive aggressive toward them or just say negative things to no one in particular during a loss, and the boards will not feel sorry for you at all if you end up punished for those things. Very uptight bunch.
