How is Ranked?

I've never touched ranked before, partly because of time (casually, I've been known to take even up to 2 years off bc real life) and partly because I've always been a little iffy about what i'm getting myself into. Both player wise and difficulty wise.

It's pretty odd for me to just lie at my Lvl.30 not doing a single ranked (maybe it's normal?) because I mean I've been playing LoL since S1. Since I was like, what, seven years old? And still a casual player even though I really love the game.

Do people communicate better? (God I could rant about team communication sometimes.) Are games a lot harder?

Just trying to figure out if I should finally give it a go.
