The New Honor System

Can the new honor system factor into account the current honors people have and those who already have ribbons? Some of us have worked really hard to try and keep the community motivated through gameplay and provided encouragement to everyone.

Like it doesn't seem fair that those who get punished or barely have honors would be equal to those who have boosted the community morale through good sportsmanship to be all categorized the same in the new honor system, like how is that justice?

It would be as if the current honors throughout the past 5 or so years have been worthless

How sad is it that a game has to create a system based on 'punishment and reward' for behavior like we are all a bunch of 3 year olds who want a cookie for being good. I am surprised I havent stumbled across an article relating video games to emotional regression

Riot has said that they will be doing something to "show some love" to the players who participated in Honor 1.0 (i.e. those players who were already working hard to earn and keep a high level of honor in the current system), but they have not said what exactly it will be as far as I know. The new FAQ page does not say anything about what they will do, aside from wiping out the old level of honors.

I have to admit, I agree with you. It does feel a bit like being told that years of good behavior, and the hundreds or thousands of honors that players have earned means precisely nothing, because we start off at the same honor level as the player who's on his fifth chat restriction or just come off a 14 day suspension. I really hope they don't decide to just give the current honorable players an icon as their "reward" for being positive players, because that will just be an insult and a slap in the face.

A little sash on the load screen would do it for me, like a scout's button

Maybe it's not justice. Maybe it's grace.

The issue with the honor system now is that there are too many premade(s) honoring each other, causing the honor system to not work as intended. People also rarely ever press the honor button, and so they want to turn honor into a more impactful system.

If you have previously worked hard to get the old ribbons why do you need a benefit for having one. If you had one before you should be able to get a new one fine. Giving a bonus to old players makes it unfair for new players who never got a ribbon and actually tried to get one or have just tried to help the community. If you really want to help take what you get that is life.
