Banning vs Restricting

I'm a toxic player. That I can admit. But that shouldn't have any restriction on my ability to play this game. I've sunk hundreds upon hundreds of my hard earned dollars into your game. But as soon as I express my feelings towards the Xin Zhao and Rammus bot lane because they're running it down mid-lane, they report me and I get banned? That seems ridiculous. Yes there may be many cases against me but I'm not intentionally feeding. That's why, when someone is being toxic inside the chat, their ability to speak inside in-game chat should be permanently revoked, not the player being permanently banned.

They already tried a punishment system that had what was basically a permanent chat restriction, but almost everybody affected turned to gameplay trolling so they changed it to the current system to avoid that.

But the people that wanted to take it a step further obviously didn't want to play the game for the game. I for one want to play the game and do not try to go past in-game chat flaming. If i wasn't able to speak I'd just keep playing the game flaming them through my TV where no one can see or hear me. And those who would go the extra mile to intentionally feed or something along those lines deserve the initial ban.

Right, but the issue is that since almost everybody affected turned to gameplay trolling it had a huge negative impact on the community.

I don't remember the exact number of people affected that resorted to gameplay trolling but it was a high number like 80% or something.

I appreciate the feedback, man. At least someone is coming here with facts trying to inform me. I'm just trying to help people like myself out who want to play but just have a hard time keeping our mouths shut.

Not trying to sound rude, but what is so hard just not hitting that Enter key? You dont need to talk to these people. Heck there really is no point in it because the whole point of them doing this in the first place is to get a reaction out of you. So why give them what they want? You ignore them and they are either going to stop. Or they will give more evidence of what they are doing thus easier for them to get reported and punished. At the end of the day its just a waste of time. If you want to vent why does it NEED to be in the chat, and not screaming at the screen, or punching a pillow/bag?

You already mentioned flaming through your tv where no one can see or hear. Why not just do that? Be verbal and say it instead of typing. May help, know it does for me at least.

No. League is a 5v5 game. If you prove that you cant handle working as a team repetitively. then there really isnt a place for you here. Your solution of "permanatly muting" a player is not fair to the other people around you. They now have a teammate who cannot communicate with the team. This puts the entire team at a disadvantage. Other peope shouldnt be punished because you dont have any self control. This is why the chat restriction was changed a long time ago to allow players to have some access to chat to communicate.

Theoretically, yes you are correct. But the only time people actually communicate properly either do it through third-party voice communication programs or through the pinging system in the first place. The only time someone ever has something to say in chat is when it is about another player or something that is going on. So the only time communication is needed, it can be provided without in-game chat.

He lost control of his temper a week or so ago and started spamming when I kept ruining his fun by making sure nobody fell for his bait.

Because we want a toxic-free game for once and if Riot wants to take that step to cleanse toxic players from people who enjoy and doesn't feels the need to express hatred, then why not support them? It's not that complex to avoid being toxic. So why not be toxic? Your anonymous protection doesn't give you the right to try and stress people out as you try to ruin their gaming experience. If you don't do bad things in real life then why do bad things to other actual living beings in digital life? Why feel the need to ruin someone day? Because you're not happy? Then you're not happy, don't ruin it for other people's day. Find a new game that does let people live the toxic life. But not here. As long I play this game I will support Riot against any toxic activity.

If you would like to actually discuss your ban then please post your entire unedited chat logs here in this thread. We get allot of people who claim they were punished for X but were really punished for Y instead, so forgive us if we seem skeptical of your claim.

Like Zezockary said perma-mutes aren't the be-all end-all solution as Riot tried that before and found that the vast majority of affected people just switched to other more difficult to detect forms of griefing instead, hence why the current system is in place. Also, other peoples poor behavior doesn't give your own a free pass. Next time you encounter players like this just mute/ignore, report and move on rather than give them the negative reaction that they're looking for.

I'm not complaining saying I was banned for something that I didn't do. I'm saying I shoudn'y have gotten the punishment I got. Instead I should've gotten a different punishment.

If you received a 2-week ban (the punishment meant to serve as the final warning) and still continued to behave poorly then it's only natural that you'd get assigned the next available punishment, which in this case is a permaban. Again if you would like to actually discuss your ban then please post your entire unedited chat logs here in this thread, as otherwise you're not gonna get much in the way of sympathy or help here.

I'm looking to change some of the punishment regulations for League of Legends so that if someone is just being toxic in the chat, it gets a different punishment than someone who is running it down mid intentionally feeding, ruining the actual outcome of games for other people. I will not be posting my unedited chat logs in the forums because I know what I did and said. I'm not looking for sympathy or your pity. I'm trying to make a change for the future not the past.

Riot already tried permamutes in the past and it didn't work as a majority of permamuted player just swapped to non-chat related forms of griefing instead (i.e. trolling, int. feeding/afking, etc.). Combine that with the fact that it took a very long time for people with hundreds of CRs to work them all off and you have a recipe for disaster. The current system is in place to encourage people to either reform or get lost faster than the old system ever did, and while it's not perfect it gets the job done. If you can come up with a system that can consistently encourage reform or the removal of chronic problem players at a reasonable rate then please feel free to share it.

Why don't they do what CS:GO does and make a separate queue for people who violate the rules and they can play with other people of their kind. Say if someone is reported and punished for speaking inappropriately in chat. They get banned from public queue and put into this "Frequent Offender's Queue" and then after they've shown good behavior, they get put back into public queue.

That's Prisoner's Island which Riot has stated many times in the past that they will never do as that doesn't encourage reform and just makes the experience worse for all involved. You can read up more about it in the Ask Riot segment on it.

They should stop trying to make as much money as they want and actually care about what the community thinks. They make enough money off of the new skins they put out each month and from RP. The only possible people making money off of banning players is the people selling accounts to already banned players. They could just make more money off of people that already have accounts.
