Seriously, why aren't players who lose through an AFK given no/reduced LP reduction?
Now, I don't want this to become the "omg i lost a ranked game bc a dude dced f**king ban them for life" post, but instead I want it to become a discussion on a point that I think makes so much sense.
We've already seen that Riot is willing to give redos to teams with DCs at the beginning of the game, in the form of Remake. Why is it that a player on a team with a DC/flamer/afker doomed to lose LP, no matter how skilled they play or how crappy they play. In the "competitive environment" of ranked, a player can be cost precious LP just because a teammate, a random you were forced to put trust in, has left you. This loss in LP after such a game, which is supposed to represent a misplay due to missplay or getting outplayed, instead is a reminder of how powerless you are in Ranked; that in some games skill doesn't matter, you are going to lose Ranking no matter how good you are.
It does not make sense that players who not only have to put up with 20-40 wasted minutes, but a loss in LP as well. The chance of having an AFK on your team should not be connected to your chance of gaining or losing LP.
Now, I may just be naive and don't understand, but I am seriously wondering; Why is there no reduced LP loss or the like for games lost due to DCs? The winning team gets to keep the LP, their symbol of victory and skill, for simply having more people than the enemy team. For the most part, those games do NOT indicate the non DC team's higher skill, yet they gain LP. It would stand that the victims of the DC would not lose LP, as that games loss was not indicative of their skill.
Again, maybe I don't understand. But this is honestly a question I've had for a while.
