Punishment For Leavers

So at least 3, maybe 4 out of 10 ranked games have involved someone rage quitting or just leaving the game, I can't check 100% on my match history page because it doesn't show people leaving, but I remember at least three games, two were top laners rage quitting and one a random leave from adc.

There's no real punishment in place for leavers, unless there's a list out there of players who got permanently banned, and even if there is they can make another account and repeat, No real behavioral change occurs. There is no way to effectively punish people for rage quitting, yet, because one person does it, four other people have to suffer because of that.

There needs to be a loss prevention put into place for rage quitting put int place for solo play, where the rage quitter loses the game and its a prevented loss for the rest of the team. Only exception would be for duo/multiple teammates, in which case players in a party are punished. Maybe there's a better way idk, but this is a big problem that overtime has made people post many threads about but nothing is being done.

Might want to rethink this logic...

There's a few questions/problems/concerns that need answering by any system that would change how AFKs are punished:

  1. How do you detect if someone is ragequitting or just left due to accident, emergency, real life event, hardware/connection troubles, etc, and how do you do so with enough accuracy to utilize it in a punishment?

  2. If you're unable to do that, what level of "false positives" (i.e. players who left for legitimately accidental/emergency reasons who get punished anyway) are you okay with?

  3. If you enable "loss prevented" for others in a game, do you also decrease the LP gain for the enemy team who won the 5v4? If not, how do you combat the LP inflation that will follow as a result of there being an imbalance in the LP lost/gained in that game?

  4. Regardless of the answers to the above, in what way does the system proposed prevent abuse by premades, and in what way does it prevent people from trying to flame someone/trick someone/encourage someone to afk so they avoid a loss?

You're right that there's been many threads saying "fix this". But I have yet to see a proposal that does an amazing job at both fixing the problem and answering those concerns.
