Should all scripting be PERMA banned or should riot try a little harder

So I just wanted to ask and see what other people's opinions are on this.

If a player is scripting in ranked and another player is scripting in a custom/bot game just to see what they are like...do you believe that both players should be permanently banned.

Personally I think the player in the bot games deserves a warning ban but riot seems to think that both offenses are equal and worthy of permanent ban.

I think that riot should have to put in a little effort into scripting dicipline and not just PERMA ban regardless but that's just my opinion. What's yours.

Please note I'm not saying scripting shouldn't be punished. I'm asking if you think there should be different punishments depending on the situation.

I do believe people should be permabanned for scripting, yes. Allowing third-party modifications to outgoing code is a dangerous precedent in any situation, and, additionally, players specifically agreed NOT to undertake such actions when signing the Terms of Use.

In this case it's only partly about preserving a fair gaming environment -- it's also about making sure people don't feel they can access or interfere with Riot's data at their leisure.

There is absolutely no reason to "see what scripts are like" if u arent planning to use them in live games.

I'm not saying scripting shouldn't be punished. It should. I'm asking if it should ALL be permanently banned. Would a one year ban or something like that not be an acceptable reduced punishment to show that it was still a serious infraction but you have a chance to make it right in the future.

I think the poll results speak for themselves, and I'm also in the equal punishment camp. I believe cheating is cheating, whether in a bot or PvP game. Simply having 3rd party scripting software installed on your PC just exudes intent.

Why even try them out in bot games in the first place, indeed why even use them at all. It's just a program designed to play a game for you, I have no desire nor kind regard for such a program as it takes away from the point of the whole experience. Video games are meant to be interactive entertainment, if you utilize scripts you might as well be sitting there watching someone else play. Where is the fun in that? Why not go watch a movie or something instead if that's what you want.

Thank you for the responses. Good answers. I still think there should be different severity levels associated to this infraction but that's just my opinion and group consensus clearly seems to be leaning the other way.

Thanks again. For taking the time to respond everyone. :)
