Riot Games - Unban Tyler1. * /r/leagueoflegends

Dear Riot Games, Hello, I am writing to you today to appeal my permanent ban from League of Legends. About nine months ago, I was banned from not only playing League of Legends and owning a League of Legends account, but also streaming League of Legends on my favored streaming platform; Twitch.Tv. During the time of my ban, I reflected on the options I had. Should I quit my streaming career, with being banned from my favorite game; or should I press on, taking the risk? Subsequently, my ban actually led to the growth of my stream, and I took the time during the coming months to reform. Between May and now, I have amassed a vast, diversified community, spanning multiple continents, cultures, and peoples. Though my community may not be perfect, their growth and appreciation has reflected upon me as a person. Among my ban reasons are intentional feeding, harassment, flaming, and I fully understand the reasoning behind my bans; my actions were outside of League of Legends’ and Riot Game’s rules and guidelines -- this I am wholly willing to admit. Since I was unable to play myself, I took the time to better the members of my community by spectating their games. During this time, my genuine devotion to League persisted, and I continued to play the game myself off stream. Despite being banned over twenty times, I continued; both for the love of my game, and the love of my community. Realistically, through both my Twitch and YouTube, I have continued to promote and exercise my enthusiasm for League of Legends, despite being banned. I have always talked up the game, and though my feelings towards Riot and their community were initially harsh, I have indeed reformed. League of Legends helped me jumpstart my career, and through the support of my community and peers, I have truly become a new person. If I were to be unbanned, I would not exhibit any of my previous behaviors, and would reintegrate myself as a prominent figure in the League of Legends community. Thank you for the conisderation. Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp

Assuming you are who you say you are, my opinion is:

#No.

And your own post speaks volumes as to why letting you back in, would be a bad idea, not only in this case, but regarding the credibility of the punishment system, not to mention Riot itself, as a whole:

Between May and now, I have amassed a vast, diversified community, spanning multiple continents, cultures, and peoples. Though my community may not be perfect, their growth and appreciation has reflected upon me as a person. (...) Realistically, through both my Twitch and YouTube, I have continued to promote and exercise my enthusiasm for League of Legends, despite being banned. (...) If I were to be unbanned, I would not exhibit any of my previous behaviors, and would reintegrate myself as a prominent figure in the League of Legends community.

Essentially, this boils down to the following message: You are "internet-fame", and you will promote them, so they should let you back in.

That's basically your argument.

Among the Tyler-fanbois, especially those who spam (usually quickly downvoted and deleted) threads here on the boards, there are a lot of people who cheer for your prior behaviour on league...people who LIKE their idol being toxic and harassing others. They aregue for more aggression being allowed on league, and that people should just "mute if they dont like it" Basically, they ask for an imagined right of being toxic. Many of them have absurd notions on how the punishment system works (Number of reports matter, famous people dont get banned, pros get extra protection...) and would enjoy seeing their idol "win" against Riot, and us "pansies" and "weaklinks" who support the punishment system as it is. Letting you back in would confirm their views.

But what signal unbanning you would send to those guys, is not even the important part of why your bans should not be revoked in my opinion.

Revoking your ban, and reinstating your streaming rights, would send a very worrysome signal to the ENTIRETY of the league community:

"If you are "internet-fame", and if by letting you play they could get more money, the rules do not apply to you, and you can be toxic, harassing and a negative impact on peoples games as much as you want, there won't be consequences."

That is a signal that should not be sent. For the sake of the community, the 100 million players who accept and uphold the rules. For the sake of Riots credibility in the eyes of the players. For the sake of the systems integrity, because unbanning you would open the flooddoors for many toxics wanting back in as well.

So my opinion on this entire thing is:

No. You don't deserve it.

As for myself, I never heard of Tyler1 before all the noise the community made about his permaban. Since then Ive seen a few video pre-recored on Youtube and there wasnt so much toxicity. Plus he is a really good draven player. But I dont think Riot will unban him though they said they never comeback on a decision

Tyler1 has had too many chances. He ruined matches for multitudes of people and showed it on youtube and twitch.
