When reviewing reports for abusive chat. Can the riot employee see what other people are saying?

So, I get banned quite a bit. I've had accounts in other regions with chat bans, suspensions and the like. Mostly for flaming, one time for inting because my team REALLY ticked me off. But it dawned on me today, when reviewing reports for abusive chat does the riot employee see what other people are saying to me? Or do they genuinely not give a flying ****?

Like I can understand like half my bans, personally I can't help myself but flame most of the time it's just automatic when i see someone screw up so badly that I almost cant believe what i just saw, but then again I've been banned for just talking shit back to someone who was flaming me or the rest of my team and I feel if a riot employee could see everything they wouldn't ban me for it.

Again I'm under no impression that I don't deserve at least half my bans I can't help but flame the hell out of people when they make absurdly stupid plays or flame people back when they do it to me. But still the question is. Can riot employees not see what is being said to me? Or are they just so offended by bad words that they don't care who was at fault they throw ban hammers around like one would throw 1's at a hooker.

Riot employees can look at other players' chat during a review, but it is not considered in many of the cases. Each player is held responsible for what they say. Others' behavior is never an excuse for you to behave poorly. If you are feeling tempted to break rules because of what others are saying, you're free to mute them if you want.

To answer your question in two ways: Yes and no.

Yes, in that Riot can pull the chat logs from any player for any game - and Tantram himself has mentioned on occasion that he can pull the chatlogs of every player from a given game, but that it still wouldn't excuse the player in question from flaming back.

And no, in that the IFS is specifically coded to look only at the chat of the player it's reviewing - and nobody else's. The IFS was designed based on data taken from the Tribunal while it was around, and the vast majority of cases involving counterflamers or players responding with negativity to things resulted in punishments regardless of the reason for their flame/negativity.

EDIT: Also, try to avoid tasteless statements like that last sentence of your post. Just for future reference.

They do. They can see it.

However, unless it's some extraordinary circumstance (Such as it's clearly a case of someone deliberately trying to bait you into saying something ban-worthy, and not necessarily then, either, because most of us already know whether or not something will trip the filter), it has absolutely 0 weight.

You're the one responsible for your own actions, not your teammates, not your opponents, not your jungler, not Baron, not your parents, internet, ISP, friends, telemarketers, boss, wife, husband, siblings, children, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, any other relatives I may have missed, not me, Riot, the champion you're playing, the boards, the boards staff, or someone sitting in the same building as you. You are the sole person responsible for your actions, unless you can prove someone forced you to do it (You were never forced to retaliate in chat to them, by the way. I'm talking they threaten to kill you, or some other thing like that, unless you do some action. That is defensible).

If the game is being manually reviewed, yes.

If the game is reviewed automatically (after every report), then no. As the automated system is programmed to review the behavior that got reported only. If you report the other person and the other person reports you, both will get reviewed.

That said, the system isn't a court system to see who was more toxic. It works punishes based on consistency x severity. So it doesn't just review that one game, it reviews that game plus many more in your past.

I mean I don't think I should be banned for these. Sure I'm not nice in these but each case someone flamed me or my team and I fired back. First game Irelia mid died to brand within the first 4 minutes If i remember correctly and instantly flamed me for not baby sitting her. Game two xayah was losing lane against two sups (somehow) and flamed me for her inability to play the game. Game three a draven (who was clearly younger) kept going off on his down and dying and flamed us for not playing GET DOWN MR PRESIDENT with him at every single second of the game. Granted I know that you're supposed to protect your adc especially during the team fight stage but he ran off and died many times on his own before that stage.

So all 3 cases I wasn't the instigator and yeah while i wasn't nice by any definition of the word I think I was at least partially justified.
