So recently playing with friends, I got a suspension for spamming kys as a joke and wasn't directed at anyone. I get on an alt account and spam 'kys', Those were the only words and the account was suspended. Why does just spamming the phrase end with an account being suspended/ banned?

Hey everyone. Let's take this conversation down a notch. It's possible to have a discussion without resorting to insults.
Because it's a form of bullying. It is telling someone to commit suicide. I get why you think it's odd you're suspended. It seems like if you typed that without any other context or direction to it, it shouldn't be hurtful to anyone, right? But you know nothing about the people on the other side of the screen.
Bottom line, it has potential to be detrimental.
Riot also escalates punishments in severe cases.

Not everyone shares your sense of humor. If someone who was actually suicidal read that phrase, it would just make them want to off themselves. I'm not saying that everyone has thick skin and believe me, to play this game with this community, you're gonna need a lot of self control. However, some people are just easily offended so it's not something to just shrug off.

If you type something in the chat, do you intend that text to be read by someone or not? If not, don't write it because if you do, someone might read it. If yes, you are directing it at someone. If you don't designate a person to whom the message is directed at, it is directed at everyone by default. So if you type 'kys' in all chat, you tell everyone listening to that chat to kill themselves.
What kind of joke is it to tell someone kill themselves anyways? My sense of humor seems to suck, since I don't seem to be able to get the joke.
