So after being perma banned on my main account (this one) I made a new account so o could still play the game I love, after playing a few games I have been receiving a lot of threats on my account that people will report me when I say stuff like "lol you're bad" and "nice one" in chat after I kill them and I am wondering at what point does what I'm saying become toxic behaviour and a reportable offence? Is it when I start swearing or can I be reported for simply saying another player isn't as good as me?

I mean it depends solely on how you say it. If its constructive or not. I mean first off you shouldn't be telling people they are bad in the first place. It doesn't really do anything. I mean what exactly are you doing when you call someone bad? Do you think they'll just start playing better?

Well I was playing with a player in a match and I was jungling for him and he was being particularly unpleasant to our mid laner and me ie flaming him for having a poor score, making fun of him picking nunu and other things. Next game I get placed on the other team of this same player and I was playing top lane against him and I killed him he said something to the effect of my champion countering him so I said "lol ok buddy" and then he just got really mad and started saying he would report me so I was just wondering if this is a legitimate ban?

It all depends on what you said and did in the match. Whatever the other players do/did (other than reporting you) does not affect you being punished or not. If you didn't say/do anything too bad, you won't be punished. If you said something mildly bad, you might get chat banned if this is your first punishment with that account. 2nd punishment is longer chat ban. 3rd is 14 day ban and fourth and the final punishment is permanent ban.

PS: That is as long as Riot's punishment system functions as expected. People have various expectations about it. Some believe it can determine is report is false or not, some believe it doesn't really do anything most of the time. We the players have very little chance to know how it works, until the ban hammer (chat-ban or true-ban) hits too near. I cannot say, since the hammer has not hit even close to me so far (and it won't if Riot's system works as expected.)

you can be reported for anything, doesn't mean it is punishable. The system is smart enough to filter out false reports, so don't worry about getting reported if you didn't do anything wrong.

Asking for reports in the form of harassment is indeed considered as harassment and can be punished for it.
