Personally Riot's kind of both offending me and gaining my support over time..... subtly.
I'm a pretty reactionary player, although I limit what I say, and it's usually limited to things like all chatting, "Please report insert champ name for inting" or telling a bragging opponent, "Not like you didn't have a insert champ name feeding you."
But..... in Season 7..... that was enough for bans. And fast. You could go through an account in about 3 months for saying that people were feeding religiously. (Personally I think it's insane that's even a reportable offense, when you're the ONLY person on your team with a positive KDA, large one, protecting 3 lanes at once because your team is running out and feeding, no cs, etc, and you play 1000 games/5 months).
I literally got a perma ban 2 games after a 14 day ban was over in Season 7..... because I literally got run down the mid feeders RIGHT AFTER I got back, and like any normal person, I complained.
But...... this season.... is interesting. I got a 10 game chat ban back in February, shortly after receiving 6 int feeders in my Placements on a new smurf account in week 2 of the season.
Since then, I got 2 Markers recovered on my honor. However..... last week, after 3 months of being discipline free, I got a 10 game chat ban again (aparrently reset to Tier 1 punishment).
What was interesting though is.....
-These chat logs included Pregame and Post game. They've never done this before, and it correlates with their change in ToS.
-I'm regularly rage prone vs feeders. No cussing..... just 14-15 lines over the course of a game that has the "please" report lines..... maybe a pessimistic start to a game where I say level 1 "We constructed a Talon feeder team," or "No CC s Yi. Great....."
Yet..... it took 3 months + to trip off a second offense. Compared to 2017..... it seems like Riot has got a little more forgiving on discipline.
Both of those changes impress me.
On the first point: The majority of feeders only say something in Pre game or Post game. They live under the auspices that those chats are safe. The fact Riot has started tracking those means more of them will potentially be caught. It might also increase discipline vs post game serial ragers who go on a 20 minute rage spree vs a teammate or two.
On the other hand.... I would personally like to have Riot be consistent with its probes rather than always changing the rules.
(The Tribunal NEVER banned me while it was in play.....it took a robot system to ban me).
On the latter point: I do appreciate some sympathy/leeway on players who aren't extremely toxic, who generally just talking about reporting feeders. Mild offenders shouldn't be treated the same as a salty sailor who doesn't know when to stop.
On the other hand..... again.... I wish Riot would announce changes to policy. (You might argue it isn't a policy change... but I've been exactly the same amount of offensive for the last 4 years, and I find right now, other than when we had the Tribunal, is the most lenient time, and I generally talk reports in half my games or more.... because almost always, someone goes 0/6 or worse. I really love games that start off 4/20, where none of those deaths are me, and I'm a support so I have a real hard time pulling them out. I REALLY enjoy it when the feed is all to a Talon or a Yasuo, allowing them to outscale anything other lanes can throw at them).** I'm also a statistician, and there is no regression I can run at this time that determines Riot's policy to be the same.**
