Reporting and It's Purpose

League of Legends.

What a wonderful game. I absolutely love playing this game and the diversity in the champions. I love the ability to play with friends and do crazy wombo combos and some fun lanes that just don't seem like they would work but we pull it off and it stomps the enemy. I love losing a close game 52 to 53 with that ONE team fight that changes everything and the death timers finally give them the victory. I love all of this. Even the death timers!

Here's what I don't love...

Toxic players. I cannot tell you how many games you get "stfu", "ur sht", "lol this guy really sucks", "fggot you're trash", "kill yourself", "I can't believe how you function with so little brain cells" etc. This game is FULL of it. I'm one of the people that does his best to report people who are rude to teammates, people who are rude to their enemy, and generally any toxicity. I get it. Some of it is playful banter and just making a couple jokes here and there but come on. I've just had three games in a row where I'm getting called trash and that I should kill myself and my parents should have abandoned me. Really? I've put in DOZENS of reports. People who call me sh*t, call other players garbage, cuss out the enemy team. I've received 4-5 notifications back saying "Thanks to recent reports by you and fellow users, blah blah blah gets banned". YAY! I SHOULD HAVE 50 BY NOW.

I know what you're gonna say. Mute them. You sound like you're a kid who's complaining about his favorite toy being taken away. I'm 20 and I'd like to think I have a good head on my shoulders. I shouldn't have to /mute all every game or mute somebody. Every. Single. Game. I can understand a couple. Not a couple hundred.

Proposal: I propose you select people who go through toxicity reports. You know how Counter Strike Global Offensive has the Overwatch system? Why not having something like that for League? Have a select few of players who have a lot of honor and receive positive support from their team and elect them! YOU SAVE MONEY DOING THIS. You don't have to PAY somebody to sit through hundreds and hundreds of reports a day. Have players read the chats of those reported and maybe watch people who might have been intentionally feeding. This might take time to implement and certainly cost some resources but in the end result you have a less toxic community (I hate to break it to you but LoL is kinda known for it's toxic users), and you have happy players who believe their reports actually DO something rather than just waste their time.

Thank you.

If there is someone who says "kill yourself" then, from what I saw, he will be escalated to a ban rather quickly. The same thing, although to a lesser extent, happens to hate speech. On other toxic words, they get chat restrictions, into temp bans, into perma. Your suggestion I think is very similar to the tribunal system. Personally, I think there should be a smaller version of the tribunal system to help riot with being able to get more reviews done. Also, just keep in mind that a lot of people who are toxic in your games might not actually be that toxic in general. I know I've had a few games where I was a little toxic, in which I once said that my team was shit only once, but I am not actually toxic (hence, no chat restrictions yet). And btw, about that game where my I said my team was shit, the enemy team wanted to report me but my team was defending me XD. It was actually a little funny in a way, I was tilted though since I was carrying and I lost (also had 0 luck in d5 which a terribly bad loss streak), but that's the only thing I said that was toxic.

You must be new because that was the original reporting system, it was called the tribunal. And it didn't work, now I'd like to tell you that it worked better then autoban bots that they have right now, but that would be a lie. It only seemed to work better because not enough players gave enough of a shit to ban everyone that seemed like they lost their head. As where this new ban system autobans anyone that even breathes in the wrong direction.

  1. They had a player run system before it was too slow it was called the tribunal they caned it a long time ago.

  2. saying I "shouldn't have to mute" is not living in the reality of the situation ...yes that statement is true and trust me i wish it was reality ....but it isn't ....

The reality is don't want to use mute you are left with only one options....stop playing in random que and just play in premades.

well i shouldn't have to play in premades.... well go back and start reading form the start again.

"i want prooof that peole i report are getting punished"

There are 3 main problems with that

  1. not everything you define as "legitimate" is actually legitimate according to Riot

  2. There may be other factors involved such as privacy that prevent that sort of specific reporting

3 but similar to 2 its really not any players business. for that kind of specific info the randomness of it now really does not tell you much..although there was an idea floating around that would give you a % accuracy of your reports which would be a good thing.

They did. The tribunal.

I think that the reporting does NOTHING now though. That's the problem.

Regards to the tribunal, I began league just after the Ekko release but I have put well over 1500+ hours into it. I was unaware of the tribunal but I appreciate the input. I'm not saying my solution is 100% the answer but it would certainly help. There's practically no thought into the system and it's obviously to either save money or just say f*ck it we have bots. They'll solve the really bad problems and then they can deal with the rest of the toxicity with muting.

I'm on the same page with you. I was reported by the very same people who keep spouting out those things at me and because "NUMBERS OF REPORTS" from the same match was a factor they had the tribunal playing to their music. Now I am 14 days banned successfully by the toxic portion of the community.

Tribunal needs to involve Honor level in their requirements.
