Self defense is taking action to prevent harm. Retaliation is attempting to harm another as they have harmed you.

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret about behavior. People who troll or flame are doing it because they want a reaction out of you. This attention is what is known as the "function" of the behavior, in psychological terms. In layman's terms that means it is the purpose of the behavior.

If you fulfill that purpose of the behavior, by giving them the acknowledgement that they want from you, then you are showing them that if they do it even more then they can get even more of a reaction out of you.

Trolls don't care about the words they say, or the actions they take. It's not about your honor to them, they couldn't care less how it is that they had to insult you, the only thing they care about is your reaction.

So here's the solution: Deny them that reaction. Mute or otherwise ignore them, and just report them after the match.

Also keep in mind that you don't even have to ask anybody else to help report them because it only takes your one report to flag the game for review. Any additional reports beyond the first won't actually do anything to increase the chances of a punishment being given out. Plus calling for reports would be like showing them that what they did bothered you, so it goes against everything we already covered anyways.

Trolls are trying to get a reaction. You're giving them what they want. Don't do that.

Oh, they will stop chat banning you, soon. They'll just ban you if you keep the same attitude up.
