Abuse of MIA Ping

Hello,

I've noticed that over the past few months from mid/end of season 6 escalating into season 7, players have loved to spam the MIA ping. When I say spam I don't mean them using it appropriately, indicating to his teammates that an enemy is missing. No, it's the usage of it as a form of harassment on fellow team members when they do something they don't agree on such as dying, messing up on a play, just for gigs, etc.

In my opinion, it has come to a point where in my games, the MIA ping is rarely used for its original purpose and rather almost fully for harassment. I feel like Riot could implement a mute button to pings all together or maybe something else. Because even if in a game I am having a bad time because I'm not playing well (I rarely talk in games), and I mute my allies by default, this toxic MIA ping will still be present pushing the tilt factor onto myself as well as my teammates (either making them upset towards the spammer or fueling their anger towards me). Me muting teammates is often times not effective anymore just because of the MIA spamming. I might be too sensitive/defensive but it's very tilting to me. It's almost as if those guys who love spamming this ping on me, increase it (I never tell someone I muted them) because they sense that I muted them and want to keep being toxic towards me.

Currently this toxicity is one of the things that is making me wonder if I should keep on playing the game. The MIA ping spamming over someone's head needs to not be a thing anymore. Maybe somebody from Riot could please let me know if someone in Riot has noticed this trend? Is it a possibility for this issue to be addressed in the future? Please let me know. Thank you.

Sincerely, Bonzai Snap

I agree with you and just posted regarding the same. The spam pings, the new alerts about amount of gold, lag meter etc are really bad for game and there should be a way to mute them.

This problem has been ongoing since they introduced pings. I can't understand why they let us mute an individual player's chat messages from appearing on our screen but not their pings. Someone spamming pings on me for 40 minutes can ruin my gameplay experience just as much as someone flaming, if not more. Give us a /muteping and let us click next to someone in the tab menu to mute their pings. There's no downside at all to giving players the ability to do this.
