you can only make assumptions about the conversation because you can only see what i said, if you could see everyones chat you may be more inclined to believe that what i said wasnt as toxic as you want to believe it is. LIke i said, i was only reported because they other team thought i was "cheating" because i was shitting on them, i promise you i didnt hurt their feelings, this whole tribunal is a fucking joke.

  1. The Tribunal has been down for years, and it's the automated behavior systems that handle the punishments these days.

  2. Judges are specifically instructed to only focus on the defendants chat and ignore the rest. This is because at the end of the day it's your actions and your actions alone that got you in trouble.

  3. Someone elses poor behavior doesn't excuse your own poor behavior. If someone refuses to stop acting up then just mute and report them rather than retaliate against them. If you retaliate then you both get punished for poor behavior. From Understanding the Tribunal:

4) That player in my game was far worse than me. Why am I banned??? a) I'll keep this one simple: retaliation isn't OK. Reacting to a toxic player by being toxic just incites that player to be even worse--it also ruins the game for up to 8 other players. It is far, far worse to watch two people yelling at each other all game than it is to watch 1 player ranting into blank space. Almost everyone in the game can find someone out there that behaves worse than they do--but so what? Finding someone worse doesn't justify your behavior or justify retaliation. We expect more out of our players. What players often don't realize is... those other players in your game that you thought were worse? Nearly 100% of the time, those players were banned even before you were. If someone is being toxic, just report them and move on. If you retaliate, both of you will be banned. It's really that simple.

If the other players continue their behavior, they'll end up punished at some point.

However, this chat restriction is all yours. Regardless of the circumstances, you are responsible for controlling your own actions; being provoked is no excuse. It is down to you and you alone to restrain yourself from acting out.

"Defending yourself" (and what you did is not defense, it's a counter-attack) is only productive if you are actually in danger, or if you are trying to maintain standing in a persistent community. This is neither of those; there is no chance of physical harm, and odds are you will never see any of these players again, so acting tough to maintain a reputation is pointless.

Even ignoring the general attitude of this chat log, your use of the word "%%%got" is justification for a punishment all by itself. Riot has zero tolerance for hate speech. At the very least change your vocabulary and use something that doesn't have such a poor connotation.

Clean up your act, or we'll be seeing you back here complaining about a permanent ban before too long.

It's not that people can't handle it, it's that people don't want to put up with people who want to be verbally abusive jerks to others when things don't go their way. From Ulanopo's Knowledge Base:

Let’s start with the Riot quote on this (link (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=30696571#post30696571)):

Why is verbal abuse punishable if there is a mute button/language filter? Players shouldn’t need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.

Simply put, Riot says no. You can scream and cry all you want, but it is their house and their rules.

With that out of the way, I think the topic deserves some further discussion. The theory is that, if people resolved to care less, then they would be happier. I often refer to this as “Argument from Stoicism” and I think it is a fairly weak philosophy because it places the burden on the person being expected to endure the behavior rather than the person exhibiting the behavior. “You should be able to handle it” is just a flimsy excuse for being a bully or a jerk. I have to be the bigger man so that you can do whatever you want? That hardly seems fair.

There is also the issue of how I spend my limited free time. Like most people, I am constantly required to make value judgments between the different forms of entertainment that are available to me and, let's be honest, we live in an age of nearly limitless entertainment options. If I'm having a bad day in League, I can just fire up Steam and play a whole bunch of games that don't require me to put up with someone's BS.

This is not an issue of weakness or thin-skin; it's a question of choosing activities that don't leave me feeling frustrated and angry. Too many of those experiences and I'll just find something else to do. Riot knows this.

I'm fairly certain the majority of the people who play this game play it to relax and have fun. People who act like jerks ruin that experience, thus they get reported and punished.

You're right, this is a game, and like all games we play them for fun and entertainment. Having someone constantly raging and being a verbally abusive jerk decreases the fun and entertainment value of a game, which can also potentially drive away both old and new customers as well if things aren't changed. Like I said before it's not that people can't handle it, it's that they can but don't want to put up with people with that kind of attitude. From Understanding the Tribunal:

1) What's the point of having a language filter if I can get banned for 'adult' language? a) We aren't out to punish players who use adult language; in fact, very few players are ever banned for saying stuff like "f***, I missed that skill shot" or "damn, fing close game!" However, the language filter is not an excuse to verbally abuse someone in the game. When you verbally abuse or harass someone by calling them "fing *****" or "ngger noob", that's when you've crossed the line and will be punished by the Tribunal. I've said this before and I'll say it again, we aren't trying to clean online games of adult language; we're trying to reform or get rid of jerks who like to verbally abuse and harass other players.

Really? Because I'm am neither of those types of players. Its a game and I don't want assholes being dicks in chat (or via their gameplay) every game making it unpleasant to even play. If I have to mute someone they are already a problem and I'm sure many other players don't want to be in a game with such a person either. I ain't no, what did you say? Oh right:

You think I don't use the mute button? I do but only if I feel that I need to so I don't end up tilting due to the jerk and end up getting into a flame war. I've NEVER been chat restricted in my 1.5 years of playing this game and I plan to keep it that way. I only mute someone if they are being a dick and are ONLY using chat to harass, verbally abuse players, or just be downright unsportsmanlike while in game just to create a negative atmosphere.

If you can't handle words, mute them. If they troll then they deserve to be banned. If they constantly say horrible things then they deserve a perma-mute. not a perma-ban.

Whats funny is I'm somewhat lenient on not muting because not much really gets to me, albeit I do have my limits on how much I can handle seeing negative chat, though I might keep someone un-muted if I notice that, if they are on my team, they keep making calls that can help the team like for example: Dragon, Baron, summoners down, etc.

I keep people unmuted just because some people don't know how to ping properly. But pings are more important than hearing them complain. just mute them, let them ping.

I love to ping honestly, its so much faster then typing it out that mid lane just went MIA and I saw them go bot/top.

Unless its something that there is no ping for... [slayer-jinx-unamused] That will hopefully get fixed along with the client update that is in the works.

Yes, it's a game. Which means there's even less reason to attack others, because none of this matters. Play the game and have fun, just remember that there will be games that don't go so well. You're going to play with and against players that have very different skill levels than you do. If a game doesn't turn out very well, just move on and look forward to the next one.

You don't have to necessarily like the ToS. You only have to follow it. If nothing else, just think of it as cause and effect. If you do A, there is a good possibility of that resulting in B.

In all honesty: I ain't no god damned saint. But I ain't a dick to the other players. I may be a dick to myself at times IRL because I fucked up and only after the fuck up (and possible death of mine or a teammates) do I tell myself I should have done" X" instead of "Y" during the moments of "A to B". But I do that part to myself IRL so I can attempt to learn from my own mistakes without bringing down my own teammates.

I do my best to keep my chat focused on the game in ways that can help the team: Dragon calls, Baron calls, notification of if I think something is warded, certain opponent has ult/summoner 4 unavailable, I'm on my way to gank bot/top, etc etc. Though at times I engage in FRIENDLY banter with my allies and enemies (if they are willing). Chatting like this will never run me the risk of getting a single punishment of any kind.

You see it's this kind of attitude that got you punished in the first place. People are trying to be respectful to you but the majority of your responses are just you yelling, swearing and insulting the people who are trying to help you. If you're looking for Yesman answers you're out of luck, as only banned troll ragers will give you the response that you want. We're not here to be your friends or to tell you what you want to hear, we're here to tell you what you need to hear. If you disagree, then that's fine, but there's no need to be a jerk to those trying to help you out. To quote fellow Wizard101 Central member Magus Zeppers:

You mention one thing and one thing only: That you went from zero to permaban.

You do not mention the highly unusual fact that your permaban got removed (thus, since that is an unlikely event, it is implied that it hasn't happened). Furthermore, seeing as the only thing you mention that has been "done" to you is the permaban, and you then go on to say that you won't forgive Tantram what he did to you, it is furthemore implied that he is responsible for that permaban.

If you weren't being intentionally misleading, all the better. Now we can both rest assured nobody will misunderstand your post and be happy ever after.

It was not "removed", it was overturned following a thorough investigation that showed violation of ethical protocol.
