this is only ONE game???? Jeebus dude, stfu and just play....

At first, you were very positive and give positive advice to your teammate (the cait) and then you go full focus on everything the cait does and whine and whine and whine and whine about the cait the entire game after your initial positive attitude.

You basically harassed and flamed the cait. After your initial good karma, you turned into a raging flaming monster of a teammate and put on an extremely negative attitude.

Punishment deserved...

I'm only human, thanks for your input though. I defintley raged, sure, but I never flamed anyone, I never insulted anyone.

I wasn't talking much early game, but the Cait followed me around to steal my farm, she insulted me, she would stand back in teamfights to watch team die.

You're saying you wouldn't get mad at this? I understand I whined quite a bit, but I was very emotional. I've never gotten this mad at a league game, she was trolling me hard and I couldn't deal with it. Sorry if that offends you.

I did NOT flame or harass the caitlyn. She would literally wait in the back, watch us die, then use the laugh emote. It would be flaming if she wasn't a troll. I was trying to get her to stop, I was confused, I was angry, I was asking her to stop trolling and actually help us.

That's the thing. If the cait did what you said she did, she is a troll. Do you know what the troll want? The troll wanted your attention. The troll wanted you to rage, wanted you to get emotional, wanted you to have a bad time.

If anyone who ever played any online multi-player game (not just League) claim they have never had to deal with trolls, they are lying their faces off.

Were I, or most people, in your situation (believe me, most likely 100% of player base have), I would first and foremost mute the cait, give ZERO attention to the cait (troll), play the game out as best as I can, and report the cait after game. Then the cait will be the one making this thread, not you.

DO NOT FEED THE TROLL. This chat is feeding the troll to the max...

If I muted her it wouldn't have done anything, she wasn't trolling with the chat, she was trolling by letting us die.

You're right though, I made a huge mistake and fed the troll. But I still don't think I deserve a ban because I didn't insult anyone, I didn't flame anyone, and I didn't put anyone down.

I only pointed out/tried to get Cait to stop trolling.

Did you read the chat? Or can you just tell that it's punishment worthy because it's a lot of words?

If you did read it you'd know that there isn't a single swear in there, there isn't a single insult, or any disrespect to anyone. I understand I raged, definitely, but I'm only human. Cait did insult me (and her support), and she literally watched us die and used the laugh emote over and over.

She would stand in lane while I ganked, the support is helping, and she would watch us die without firing a single auto attack. Then she would use the laugh emote. Are you saying this isn't something that would anger you?

it might, depending my mood. I might scream at my screen if I'm in a bad mood, but I'd learn from that quickly and not play around that lane and treat her as a walking ward.

Where is the insult? Are you saying that me saying "You're being dumb" is an insult?

I did not call the gnar dumb, I said he is being dumb, everyone does stupid things from time to time that is a fact. I was merely making an observation that his judgement lacked intelligence at this moment in time. I never once inferred that Gnar himself as a player lacked intelligence, nor did I ever insult his person.

The reason said he was being dumb is because he said that the Cait is "having a bad game" when in fact she was trolling. I was amazed that someone could be so innocent, and so I was asking him to reasses the situation. She was literally watching teammates die, thats why I said he was being dumb.

TLDR: I did not call him dumb.

I can be an asshole without insults. If i see a fat woman on the bus which even smells a bit i could say something like

"You know, the fact that you are that much overweight is kind of disgusting for me, to be honest i would like you to leave this place since your smell is gonna make me throw up if i have to sit with you for a couple of more minutes here."

Again, you're right in some ways, but you're wrong in others because you're taking the context out.

Let's assume I'm not lying, and Cait was indeed trolling, am I harassing her for calling her out on her troll? No! If someone is stealing your farm and you tell them "STOP stealing my farm" is that harassment??

If a teammate is laughing at you after you die, and you tell them "Can you help me instead of watching me die while you're under tower and not laugh at me??!" is that harassment?

It's only harassment if the person is innocent. If you assume Cait is not innocent, then I am the one being harassed and I am only asking her to stop.

It doesn't matter if you are harassing a innocent player or a troll. Harassment is harassment. Fighting fire by adding more fire to it doesn't cool the fire.

Calling someone a troll is indeed harassment, and you are just feeding the troll.

EDIT: re-reading the chat again. Cait could be bad initially. But you started passive-aggressive behavior with her and it led to her deciding to troll you.

Not saying what she is doing is right, but you certainly have a part to do with it.

I agree with you, through reading it it could be interpreted how you just did, and I could've been the one to fuel her into trolling BUT (this is my first encounter with Cait copied from a thread I had with someone else):

I was playing Kayn, we have red buff on botside. I came in to gank botlane from the wall using Kayn's E from the direction of the blue buff. The enemy Sivir and Braum were right in the middle of lane, so were Caitlyn and Veigar. Veigar uses his stun and goes in, I go in, we're both attacking, and Caitlyn is farming her cs laughing at us. Yes, laughing at us. Is saying "enjoy 0 ganks bot, wastring free drake and not joining during gank" toxic if I am simply informing that person that I am not going to be ganking botlane anymore, because they do not help during ganks, and they laugh at me and teammates and farm while the team is getting the dragon?

During that fight, I forgot to mention to the other person, either both me and Veigar died while Cait watched, or it was just Veigar I can't remember.

But she was trolling us from the moment I met her.

if that's the case, she was fishing a reaction from you, and got it.

I hope you reported her for intentionally giving up, I also hope that you'll learn not to feed the trolls in the coming future.

Heads up for you, your next punishment is a permaban. It is possible for the punishment tier to drop, on average, it takes 3 months of gaming without being validly reported to drop a punishment tier.

This kind of thinking is how the concept of "outlaws" was born, which (spoiler alert) is no longer really considered an ethical way of dealing with criminals. Even if you break the law, you are still protected by it. You are neither allowed to steal from a murderer nor are you allowed to put a rapist's house on fire. You're completely misunderstanding what I wrote. I didn't mean that harassing people whether they are good or bad is okay and justifiable, OF COURSE NOT.

I am saying if someone lied to you and you say "You are lying." that is not harassment, that is calling someone out on something. If someone is innocent, and you say "You are lying" then they would clearly be offended and it would be harassment.

What I am saying is, if someone is indeed a troll and you call them a troll it is not harassment. If someone is intentionally feeding and you tell them to stop intentionally feeding, that is not harassment.

I understand what you're saying though, I get it I might've made the same misconception you made.

Also, I am slowly figuring out what toxicity is. I started playing at the beginning of season 7, so I am relatively new. I am not a toxic, or even a mild-moderate toxic person.

I am only explaining myself to you because I think you're respectful, you take into account different perspectives, and I like you... I don't want you to think ill of me.

So! the reason all these punishments have accumulated, is because I do not understand what toxicity is, honestly. I'm not toxic by nature. My first few reports were before I understood that insulting people who insult you is toxicity. I thought, "Hey this person's being an ass to me and everyone on my team, why not say something?" and I did. So, I'd get reported by the trolls, or the people who were just trying to relax and just didn't want fights in their chat, and okay I understand that.

I was 100% "reformed" for a while, I would mute everyone in chat, just go in and play my game. Then I thought, hey I'm not going to be fighting people anymore, I can unmute people and just talk to the nice people and ignore the trolls.

Now, my current ban is because 2 weeks ago + (meaning this happened +/more times), I would meet someone in-game and they would insult me/a teammate/whatever and they would get mad and trolly and say in all-chat "REPORT SO AND SO" and I would say "Haha you just called me a bitch tho" or called the other person whatever. And I would leave it at that. I didn't type anything else in-game, I wouldn't flame them for it, I would just let them be. Then I would get reported, and I imagine Riot's report system gives you penalties for swearing. So the last few times were because I would literally only say "you called me a bitch" or "dont call me a bitch," and so I got chat banned for it.

Whatever, right? I got chat banned, I'm reformed, I'm thinking there's no way Riot's actually going to punish me severely for doing this, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. But they added up.

Now, the ban I just received, I EXPLODED in chat... because while I've seen many people trolling or being mean in chat, I've never seen someone troll the game like this. I've met mildly trollish people, but none like this Cait.

After my first punishment in League, I reformed somewhat, and I only got more and more reformed. I understand why I was punished for all my past mistakes... but not this one. Maybe you don't agree with me, but thank you for being so respectful throughout.

Most everyone else is downvoting me because people like to be passive aggressively mean, or calling me just flat out wrong, but thank's for listening :P!

She watched me die on purpose, UNDER OUR TOWER, she didn't fire a single auto attack, and used the "laugh" emote to harass me even further.

There was a 3v3 with me, her, and support vs. the enemy jungler and their botlane, she didn't fire a single auto attack, and she watched me die.

I did not once insult her performance. I called her a troll. I didn't ever call her a bad player, or that she's doing bad, I called her a troll.

It wasn't only me calling her a troll by the way, this was someone who was watching their teammates die, and laughing at them. Someone who insulted us, someone who wanted a reaction, and sure they got it and I lost to them... but I was feeling particularly emotional.

I never once insulted her. I'm sorry if the amount of complaining bothered you, looking at it now it's kind of gross actually, but in the heat of the moment it was all I could do.

The player (Cait) was legitimately the biggest troll I've seen, whether it's in person, or on videos. She was trolling me hard and won.

So, if she was trolling (there's no way for us on the boards to know for certain), she definitely won: you responded and got punished legitimately because you were toxic towards her.

I was not toxic towards her, you are saying I was toxic like it's a fact. Toxicity is when you insult, put down, swear at, or hurt a player in any way.

In this case the Cait was insulting people, and I did not insult her once, I did not call her a bad player, I did not say there's no hope for her. She was insulting me, and I said it's okay, don't rage, just take the time to listen to other players and don't rage. I understand that this is hypocritical, but I was raging at a troll. Not an innocent person who made a silly mistake.

Yes, Riot does consider "calling people out" and "defending your team" to be toxic. The biggest reasons being:

  1. That's what the trolls want. They want you to tilt, get angry, and then flame and tilt your team.

  2. It doesn't actually solve anything to flame the trolls. They're not going to stop trolling.

  3. Your team now not only has to sit through a teammate trolling, but through a teammate trolling and reading someone flaming/being toxic.

I understand it's frustrating and you have every right to be angry. Don't take it out on the chat box, however.

You're right, I didn't think how it would affect my teammates, it was a mistake.

I could say that my teammates could've just muted me, then I wouldn't really be "toxic" because the "flame/toxicity" isn't affecting them, it just might get through to the troll somehow, but in the end it most likely won't get through and I am still dancing for the troll.

I still don't think I deserve the ban based on my code of ethics/morals, but its your guys' rules.

Someone in chat called me a bitch, I didn't type all game, this was the only thing I typed almost ALL game, there was ZERO spam, but I responded in all chat when they said "Report whatever champ I was playing for toxic" and I said in allchat "Haha you just called me a bitch".

And I didn't type a single thing all game after that. I imagine I got a chat-ban because I used the word "bitch", but if Riot has the game-chat recorded, and they read it, can I get reappealed for that one?

It would be really cool if you could answer.

Creating an overwhelming negative environment is also punishable. Spending the entire game calling another player a trolls, getting into arguments with teammates (your Gnar, in this case), and generally being a poor sport and talking about how your team doesn't deserve to win is all punishable behavior. It's not only direct insults that are punishable -- it's also creating a negative and unfun game environment. :(

The team could've just muted me and it wouldn't have affected them, but I could've helped back and not spammed chat I guess.

Frankly, I can't really say without seeing the chat logs. I can tell you that cursing is totally allowed though, as long as it's not used in an unacceptable manner, so the use of the word bitch, especially in that sort of context, shouldn't trigger a report.

I'd need to see the logs to provide a better analysis. Sorry. :/

I was not insulting the player playing Gnar by the way. I said he was being dumb, meaning his judgment at that point in time was lacking. Mind you, this was right after Gnar called me a shithead. and when I said "No gnar, you shust" I meant to write "No Gnar, you shush" because he would say something like "maybe she is having a bad game, shush".

Also all of the XD's and HAHA's were me imitating Gnar and Cait spamming me XD's and HAHA's. I wouldn't write that to make fun of a player, I only wrote those things to show them how dumb they were being.

1st I was playing Kayn, we have red buff on botside. I came in to gank botlane from the wall using Kayn's E from the direction of the blue buff. The enemy Sivir and Braum were right in the middle of lane, so were Caitlyn and Veigar. Veigar uses his stun and goes in, I go in, we're both attacking, and Caitlyn is farming her cs laughing at us. Yes, laughing at us. Is saying "enjoy 0 ganks bot, wastring free drake and not joining during gank" toxic if I am simply informing that person that I am not going to be ganking botlane anymore, because they do not help during ganks, and they laugh at me and teammates and farm while the team is getting the dragon?

2nd The Cait said I am bad at the game and that the adc is allowed to ignore ganks/drake and only focus on farming because its his job (clearly trolling), So I responded with sarcasm saying he has 10/10 skills for farming during objectives/a gank.

He said something first, and I understand it doesn't matter who said what first, but saying "you have 10/10 skills" to someone who just called you is not toxic. I've seen tweets by riot with similar or higher levels of sarcasm. Sarcasm to someone who is disrespectful to you is not toxic.

In my opinion at least.

Calling someone dumb is an insult. It may not be a BAD one comparatively, but it's still not necessary.

Again, if your intent is to showcase how "dumb" they are being, then you are creating a negative and inflammatory environment. You don't HAVE to do that, especially in the very forward and insistent way you did so.

The point here is that NONE of that was necessary to say. You're basically making comments designed to belittle your team or point out how dumb you think they're being...when there are much less inflammatory ways to phrase all of those statements. I get that it may seem like a little difference to you, but it's frankly an important one.

It can be, actually. Once or twice is likely fine. An entire game of that behavior crosses the line into harassment.

The "XD's" and "HAHAHA's" were used sarcastically because Gnar and Cait were spamming me XD's and Haha's laughing at me.

I kept trying throughout the whole game, but I don't think somebody trolling and watching their teammates die deserves to win, and I don't think anyone who defends a troll deserves to win either.

When I said 10/10 skills Cait had literally called me bad the message before and I was being sarcastic, saying 10/10 skills to someone who just called u bad is not harassment, toxic, or reportable in my opinion.

The "shush" I wrote was because Gnar was also spamming all game, and he was telling me to shush, I was just using his own words because maybe he'd understand me.

If you spend all day spinning words around you can make anything sound bad. This Cait would engage the enemy laner, wait until her support engaged, then she would use her net to run away, and then she would use the laugh emote at him. She did the same to me, I ganked her lane, and she watched me and her support die, then she laughed at us. I was letting her (and the team know), enjoy 0 ganks bot because I am NOT going to gank a lane that trolls me while I do. I was taking the responsibility off my shoulders.

I don't care if you consider me a good teammate or not, a lot of people wouldn't, but most would. If you can judge me based on this chat alone, without actually being there to see this Cait trolling the team, then I wouldn't want you as a teammate. Not trying to insult you, I'm just saying, don't judge people before getting the full picture.

A lot of your chat is directed negatively towards another player. So yes, it definitely seems punishment worthy. Even if you think this is helping or harassing a troll, there's a good chance the rest of your teammates didn't want to keep reading your chat about a specific player and not pertinent objectives.
