LeaverBuster in Botgames, or games you rejoin

Is it really necessary? For some reason, I had to close out of League and run the patcher again, immediately after starting up and diving into a game... I repeatedly got a 'Your game has crashed, check your internet connection' error until I ran the patcher a second time - when it patched, again.

After that, I managed to rejoin the botgame I got into, of course as a level 1 Sivir against level 13s and 14s at the time (we still won though, yay jungle Kindred and... how dumb the bots are), but I played it through to the end.

I get to the post-game lobby, and I've got the big, glaring, 'Hey boi, you done goofed, we gonna slap yo tail with the belt if you do that 'gain, ya hurr?' prompt.

That's dumb. I rejoined the game. On top of that, it was a bot-game. Why do I have to agree to be punished if, first off, something outside of my control made me unable to be there for 100% of the match, and second, I was in a bot-game, which could honestly be won as a 3v5 if the players are smart and don't just constantly think 'durrhurr its bots we can build AD Sona and roam the jungle all game and still win.'

My fiance got hit with the Leaverbuster prompt in another botgame, that was almost a full premade, because she had to step away to take our dogs outside lest they pee the floors. She explained what she was doing, which, yeah, I know, Leaverbuster doesn't know that everyone else was cool with a player going AFK for a few minutes, and once again, IT WAS IN A BOT GAME.

I really don't see punishing AFKers in Coop VS AI really doing anything beneficial to the community. Unless, like, it's in a Doombots game.

And besides that... the both of us, in our respective games, came back and finished it out to the end - albeit severely underleveled because we were sitting in fountain for so long and then had to reconnect because the game punted us out. Not cool, man. I'd be alright with a prompt saying 'Hey you should be aware that leaving a team-based game hurts four other players at the least and diminishes the experience for everyone engaged in the match, please try to make sure you won't have any other claims to your time when you are trying to play League!' or something of the sort.

But being threatened with account action for real life intervening, or for the patcher having a hiccup and not actually letting me patch properly? That's a bit ham-fisted. My fiance refuses to play anymore because she thinks its dumb to have to agree to being punished for daring to let our dogs take precedence over a game, so long as the Leaverbuster prompt appears whenever she logs in.

So yeah, this is long-winded. Sorry. I had no problem punching in the 'I agree' thing when I was prompted to because I'm fairly sure I'll be able to dedicate the necessary amount of time to let L.B.'s warning fall off my account over the next few games, or however it works. But I'm inclined to agree with Jen - we were playing in a comp stomp, and we rejoined to finish it out. Having to slog through the rest of the game at an exp and gold disadvantage is already bad enough, but to willingly agree to tie ourselves to the whipping post if something we can't ignore or prevent happens in the middle of a game again leaves a bad taste in our mouth.

i agree, bot games are a joke. Anyone with a brain can 1v5 intermediate bots (poke champs have an easy time with this) when im bored il do a bot game for giggles, i find that its too easy and wished it was 3v5 a times.

Riot should make Expert Bot games where bots have no death timer and are able to kill super minions fast. Current bots cant handle 3 dead inhibs. adc bots dont stand still and auto attack a super minion like they should, they dance around and fire once or twice and continue to dance

If you're playing with new players, then I'd strongly be against taking the penalty off. When I had just started I actually lost a beginner bot game because 2 players went afk and me and the other newbies couldn't hold them off on our own. That's not fun for anyone, bots are supposed to be the "easy mode" within this game. The consequence after that experience was that I promptly started playing intro bots again, effectively slowing my learning curve.

Remember that bots is usually inhabited by people who don't feel qualified for normals, or just can't keep up with human players. Just because you want to play a game to stomp bots now and then doesn't mean you should be able to just afk and let the rest do their business. It still leaves the team at a disadvantage and you risk giving them a poor gaming experience.

Like another guy said as well, this isn't about whether you rejoined or not. By the time you get back in a game you might have screwed your team over. There shouldn't be a difference between normals and bots, purely because we don't want to teach new players that leaving is okay. I left a lot of botgames when I had just started, got punished (no league for 2 days) and after that I've never purposely left a match.
