I got chat restricted for this...

So I got chat restricted yesterday, which maybe I deserved, maybe not, maybe some peeps could tell me what they think. I was playing thresh in a normal game and my adc and jungle were a duo. My ADC Varus is killed under enemy tower, and flames me for not throwing him lantern when I had no mana. Then the jungle comes down and gives them a kill and flames me for not diving in on my Q hook when I had no mana to follow up with any other spells. After these two incidents my jungle Irelia and ADC Varus duo relentlessly spam missing pings and type in chat that im trash and playing horrendously and that I should uninstall. literally every spell I use I get missing pings, every time I die, i get missing pinged, as well as being flamed pretty aggressively in chat. I reported them both and received no notification that they had been punished but I get a chat restriction. presumably from them reporting me. Here is the chat log from my restriction. the first part is me talking about how we are going to fuck up the enemy lane. not talking smack to my teammates. Also maybe I shouldn't have been spamming the Irelia's score to her, but she was flaming me and telling me how poorly I was playing when I was 1-0-4 and she was 1-3-0 so that's the point I wanted to make. Anyway, I've reported people for much, much more egregious behavior than what my chat log shows and they were not punished. I've reported for racism and death threats and people encouraging suicide and the offenders weren't punished. Here I am trying to defend myself while being hard flamed and I get chat restricted. I think it's bullshit personally but maybe I'm wrong and I deserve the restriction. But if my behavior shown in the log deserved the restriction then the Varus and Irelia who were flaming the fuck out of me definitely did too. and they did not receive punishment.

As the icing on the cake, the Varus friend requested me after the game, only to send me a message saying "enjoy the chat restriction littl bitch boy" and then blocked me. What the fuck man. I get restricted when these players act like this. Where is the justice riot?

Based on the above, this is definitely deserved. Multiple insults, and rubbing a bad score in your teammate's face.

And the fact I was doing it in defense of myself when they were spamming at me first how trash I am? That isn't taken into consideration? They were both hurling abuse and I responded, why didn't they get restricted?

Nope. You still broke the rules, and no one MADE you type those insults.

Is that the approach riot takes? The ol' zero tolerance approach? There's a reason why people aren't prosecuted for self defense. The judge doesn't just say, nope, doesn't matter you shoved him down while he was bludgeoning you, you still assaulted him, still broke the law so you're going to jail. I don't see that as an appropriate justification. When someone starts flaming and badgering someone in game the persons response to their flaming should not be considered bannable unless the retaliation goes far above and beyond the flamers own comments. which mine could not even fairly be considered escalation of what was already being said to me.

Zero tolerance would be an outright ban. This is a chat restriction. Additionally, it may well have taken more than one game to trigger, even if only one recent game was on your reform card.

There's a reason why people aren't prosecuted for self defense.

Because self defense means you are in physical danger and it is your way to avoid it. Here there is no danger, and the mute button completely negates any further attack. When you choose to attack back when there is no need or benefit, you have made the situation worse.

Further, a defense would be "I'm actually doing fine." A defense is NOT "fucking sad ass person."

Well hey, thanks for the feedback. Maybe the rift is just becoming another safe space now. These bans and restrictions I'm seeing lately are much more heavy handed than I ever remember and its bannable now to talk shit back to someone talking shit to you. Guess it's time to adapt. Just do what the Varus and Irelia did on my team and badger people until they say something back then report them and get them banned.

Boi... Your excuse for this blatant toxicity is that people were being toxic to you. They were intruding YOUR 'safe space' so you felt the need to fight back. That's what you get you hypocrite.
